In Episode 70 of Beneath Vancouver Radio, I chatted with Meg Kuang a recent UBC Commerce graduate who has been sharing her story online for a few years now.  Meg is a Vancouver-based creator who creates, connects and seeks discomfort. Curiosity is her cardio, people are her muse, and growth is her driver. Meg has her own podcast "I'm In My Twenties" where she chats with others about their experiences during this interesting time in many people's lives.  Meg and I chat about how she navigated her post-graduate life amidst a pandemic, and what she does to make sure that the work she does feels impactful to her. In Episode 59 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Maya, the founder of Second Life Apparel. Maya wanted to help eliminate the issue of fast-fashion, and from there Second Life was born. They upcycle one-of-a-kind throwback pieces and utilize fabric ends to create new sustainable styles. They also donate $1.00 of each purchase to environmental foundations that help tackle this problem. Maya shares her background of the fashion industry and how she got inspired to start Second Life. In Episode 58 of Beneath Vancouver Radio, I chatted with Rico, founder and owner of local sandwich shop; Smokehouse Sandwich Co. I met Rico about 8 years ago when he had first opened up the shop with his wife, and have always found myself at home when eating there. Fast forward to today, and Rico's store is a staple within the community and has allowed people to not only enjoy amazing sandwiches, but also be a part of something more. Naila is also an author and is currently writing her second novel, as she continues to finish up her high-school diploma. In Episode 52 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Tiffany Sham; a Vancouver-based artist who started her own small business last summer selling tote bags designed with her drawings. Tiffany has always had a creative side, and has learned a lot about herself in the last few years. When COVID hit, she decided to share her love for art with her friends and to her surprise people wanted more! Being a recent university graduate, Tiffany shares about the struggles of balancing hobbies, side projects and school work. With the summer ahead Tiffany hopes to continue to develop her business and kick-start her apparel line, all while enjoying the beauty Vancouver has to offer. In Episode 51 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Shawn Esquivel; a Vancouver-based chemical engineer grad and Youtuber by night. Shawn started his Youtube channel when he noticed that there wasn't any content for chemical engineers, especially during the beginning of his degree. Having found a niche, Shawn took matters into his own hands and started creating content for his fellow peers. Fast-forward to today, and Shawn has grown to over 4,000 subscribers and has enjoyed seeing the value that his content provides to others.
