here's an uncomfortable meditation in light of your concern for international law: If the empire in question can function as useful idiots and be helpful for once in preventing, say, the Syrian Kurds being massacred by Turkey and friends, they probably shouldn't be discouraged. I support all of you but i'm going to remember how you guys, Blumenthal, etc framed this if there's a slaughter. Best wishes.
Noam Chomsky also wanted to keep tripwire forces in Syria to protect Rojava and he was correct.
U.S. leftists shouldn't criticize Iranian human rights violations? That sort of standpoint epistemology is incoherent, eat shit, boys.
Great episode, keep up the great work!
re: the "honest guys making mistakes" thing, ken burns' vietnam doc on netflix is like that. Just sort of skims over french brutality but goes into detail when they talk about mass killings in the ranks of Vo Nguyen Giaps organization.

IMO it's like we are immitating the Brits Occupation of India and Chinese Opium wars, except we're selling the crop to our own ppl.
