Awaken the Possibilities Podcast features successful entrepreneurs and intuitive leaders who offer insights on how to attract success in business and life. ABOUT Joe DiChiaraJoe DiChiara is an entrepreneur with a CPA license. He has worked with thousands of business owners over a 35 year career providing simple bookkeeping through complex IRS tax audits. It troubled him that most new businesses fail and was determined to find out why. In 2010, after reading “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles and “Law of Success” by Napoleon Hill he got his answer.Success starts with Mindset, a subject they don’t teach in CPA school. He learned that this was the true culprit on top of an overly complex system making it nearly impossible to succeed in business. Joe’s primary purpose is to teach the fundamental principles of success combined with the practical knowledge acquired as a CPA. By providing business coaching combined with affordable accounting and tax services he is helping stem the tide of new business failures._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________About Terry Wildemann:Terry Wildemann is the owner of Intuitive Leadership® and a Business and Resilience Accelerator, Speaker and Certified Executive Coach.Terry's specialty is working with tired, unhealthy, close-to-burned-out entrepreneurs and professionals and helps them leap off the stress hamster wheel. schools the business with them all the leadership within the school and the light with the ball is going to be a little bit of something for all of you who are entrepreneurs aren't you need our address here is your wheel of life we've been through com is a low so that you can become a non operable resilient you're the leader who is also a practical business Mr we need your folks we need you to step up and to answer your calling and if you're listening to this chances are you're one of the folks that this show is all about have a very special guest his name is Joe did Ciara hello John how are you yeah Joe is a consumer who transformed into a CPA and what he does today is help small business owners really start off with the solid foundation but I'm gonna stop there gonna ask Joe Joe would you share with us how you created this transformation from entrepreneur to CPA now helping small business owners I would love to Terry you know I don't believe that entrepreneurism made I mean I think you can learn business skills and start a business and be successful but some of us myself included are worn this way I used to think I had some kind of virus because I was doing all kinds of crazy thanks it started when I was ten years old that's as far back as I can when I started actually intentionally stop trying to make money for myself and it was pretty interesting because what I did was I set up a casino in my drive ten years all it was awesome it was awesome one of my friends and me and I made like three dollars and fifty five cents and that was a lot of money seven and from that moment on getting the job like my %HESITATION everyone in my family it just wasn't an option never answered my mom and when I was seventeen my father thinking that you know all these kids on the wrong track %HESITATION wasn't hanging out right around and he was right he he we were at a family barbecue and he pointed to one of the guys who sit back as she yes and this is what the what the heck is a seat yeah Mr will they start businesses business owners go to the vice presidents of companies and from that moment this is what I'm going to be a CPA and I never thought twice about I became a CNA not because I wanted to be an actor I want to learn about this one person that is really wonderful more details about how you felt this is true that well since twenty five years you know I felt actually like a fish out of water to be honest as an entrepreneur in the CPA soon it was like confining I was in a in a cubicle and was confined may it was more confined for the people that I was working because they expected an accountant that was just going to you know fill out the forms and and help them reconcile the bank accounts and I okay I'm sorry okay per cluster yes exactly I I I felt like a and I wasn't going to be what she saw always dog down with my clients and then I would ask them like what exactly are you trying to tell you you know this isn't working you know what we thank you how are you marketing your product what probably you saw they expect those questions from I don't but that was the entrepreneurial side we so about ten years ago I came across a book called the science of getting rich and that changed my whole perspective about business and life what Wallace Wallace shared well is that there is enough resources on the planet so that everyone can be rich and all they had to do was change from thinking about the problems thinking about the solution I think our own will need to hear that again the difference the true way to success is to thank success not competition who's gonna put me out of this let me give you now let me put out a better price you're not there that's not what makes people successful and from there I picked up the Polly hill's first war of success and he went into it from another standpoint he dug deeper into what you know if you don't know who to call in help was he interviewed thousand people over over twenty five years he had argued the most famous successful people of art and he broke it down to seventeen different principles and none of them had to do with creating a business plan right now all of them do it creating a business plan but because I know you're going to share yes then actually he does have a business plan and this is what I what I teach you what's called a definite chief fans and all it is three paragraph statement that describes each what you gonna do now how are you gonna do and what the result is well it's it's powerful and it works well there is a book draw how many people have you worked with that have succeeded using your formulas hundreds but you know to be honest with I I don't know because just like my father planted the seed in my head when I was seventeen and I resented him for twenty five years this is what exactly would you do to me why did you not you know who tricked me into becoming out so I'll look at it as I'm just planted seeds now those students might not take root for years you know I look at it like damn bro you know damn movie could be watering is I think it takes five year before even sprouts and then all of a sudden it's fifteen all so I don't I don't really measure success in in terms of how many people became millionaires you know based on what I've done I'm sure if I just hope somebody a tiny bit if I just open the door for them sorry to be open minded you know to make them to help them look at what they're doing and they're not getting the right results and maybe they need to change Stockton if I can do that maybe that's a success can you share your %HESITATION your favorite client with ensuring their name can you share a story of how you were able to turn the business around my favorite client would be may really mopar %HESITATION yeah because I have the story you know and if you look at the quality inn no this is a book he wrote called out winning the job oh my god what is that amazing and I read that book only because he tells my story wow the guy was the godfather of success and if you look at his life he failed miserably time and time again until one day he woke up he said maybe they should apply these principles a cell and that's what I've been doing this for ten years I've completely turned my business around not just financially you know financial success in the war like I said everybody should be wretch we all can be rich you're rich isn't only measured in terms of dollars and when I wake up today I love what I'm doing I I I believe I am helping change lives one mmhm when you folks that this book outwitting the devil what was the last locally in hill's book and it was a hidden manuscript for many many years up until fairly recently and it %HESITATION Boeing has wife actually asked him not to publish it after she read it she was very very scared of what was in the box and then it got the police foundation had it and it wasn't until certain people passed away that they felt that it was time to finally published book and the reason why is because this book has Hey it's great for the practical meant yeah right the business mistake because you are literally having a dialogue with yourself in a very deep way and he called the other party the devil so he was having a dialogue with the devil who is trying to stop sabotage sabotage not sometimes that's happened charger so you're not waiting the devil it's about out waiting match side Abbas who does want to stop sabotage and it was that book out within the devil in my perspective is probably of all of his books the most powerful of all it was his last book and he even commented that it was the most powerful boss of the fact that you read that book incorporated that book into who you are says so much about you and yes I can see how in the last ten years it transformed you into who you are that happens well business congratulations because it really is an amazing thank you thank you so much and yes it is powerful and it shows how far ahead of its time US if you look at the larger six us this guy was talking about quantum physics what he was talking about quantum physics because what he said basically in a nutshell was the power of positive thinking I was taught when I was three years all our positive thank you know but when you told something and it's it seems like it's obscure OR and once you start practicing it it is you know it's like the whole universe opens up and you realize that you we have unlimited power to do any I'm a fan of Marianne Williamson I don't know if your arms are it she has yes Marianne Williamson has an arm that I do when I I listen to it almost every day for years and what she says in a nutshell is what holds back is what we think is no she says what holds us back is our fear but the sheer isn't what we think is the fear is that we are powerful beyond measure and when we put our minds to it we can do anything N. when I looked at that I said you know what this may this was me continually shot myself in the foot urgent message success because I do not want that responsibility I didn't want people looking to me for guidance you know and it was deep seated I didn't realize I had to do a deep dive into my soul and my heart and say why is this happening you know what are they saying the the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results and yes all these little things Harry although it's hardly just order in adding up I can't say it was like an overnight transformation in fact I'm still being transferred this R. yeah well anybody you know I'm so glad you brought that up because there are so many people who said %HESITATION when I become a light when I become a liking then I in the last twenty years I've been telling them they realize that alignment is everything okay we're growing every single day we're going to be what we're going to be getting on line the today we croak eight all of a sudden you're work that way you know one of the things I I teach my clients is you know well and I had this later when I get in here that's still be successful it can travel all over the world L. as well where is here we're what do we mean by here because you have to remember I work massively wealthy he I mean massive I mean clients are to write a check for millions of dollars and actually clear and other than it was years correct I'm really involved with it's not going to clear yeah you can clear I'd like to share something that then I saw it early in my career yeah really puzzled hi I understand slowly now I have a client who's worth over ten million dollars on restaurants have money he every time I thought he had ever known these children despise %HESITATION they couldn't wait for him to die again is mine and that broke his heart he was the main guy he yelled he wasn't happy and then I have another client a family that they live from week to week three young children and they would come in every year to do their taxes and they were happy you know say Hey let's figure out how much you owe the iris this year and how much you know we'll have to make another payment arranged that puzzle how is that they don't have any money they're happy that I should salute happiness isn't money it can and like this twenty five year I tried to figure that out I want to be happy but I want a lot of money so it's a lot easier to be happy when when you have money so I share that with you know just to point out that if you think you're gonna be you're gonna get rich and be happy it's it's not gonna happen there's a lot of rich you miserable what moment traction in your you have your well before if you want lots of money got a needle like you have money first and be in gratitude and appreciation of what you already have it's a lot of traction what you focus on art comes about you know and beat that that's a real big thing in in this energy our of prosperity it's about being grateful for what you already have first all it you're practically already great well you're already happy you are already in this knowing open space but if you're constantly when I get rich when I get rich when I have money it's outside of you it here it's about bringing it in Hearst owning it we look at all the people who win lotteries lab water resented the broke within a year why that's a fact what about all the rock stars and sports people together all of a sudden they get this well and they don't know what to do with and it's it's heartbreaking because it destroys people that weren't ready for that range that harks wasn't weren't ready for exactly right there wasn't it wasn't so much that they weren't ready for it they didn't know how to be ready for yes there you have to know that how peace and integrated inside and so many folks a mystery after story after story of people who are earning lots and lots of money and yeah you're right the lottery things of this and people don't realize this right just so many lottery winner won millions of dollars a couple years later they're rock and thank there was a guy that actually won the lottery twice in one groups whites so it goes you know back to what I was saying about with success comes responsibility and sometimes the responsibility I believe can be overwhelming on that note %HESITATION overwhelming responsibility what is it back how can people find you so that you can help them with growing their business from the financial side of the house what does a lot of ways to find him on Facebook at you can go to my website and recklessness builders dot com and you can book a free chat with me I'm with Joe dot com N. or you can email me Joe at bedrock business builders and I respond very quickly if somebody's in need you know that's my A. P. I call it nurture appreciation hot nurture appreciation and cost so as we wait I would love to get your perspective on waiting as it is it what is the difference between waiting and procrastinate think of how you just presented nap okay what that reminds me of is at Christmas is Sam thing in the process of being formed it is waiting to become a butterfly it is waiting to be involved in fly at its greatest beauty and its greatest heights you say it is procrastinating is to deny the absolute transformation that's taking place in the process of being still yes dramatically different it is dramatically different stinging all right so to me waiting can be a process of just keeping busy doing nothing waiting can also be a time in which you're in reflection in which you're in preparation in which you're doing all the back room things that need to be done so when it's time you can fly out the door and all the preparation has been finished it's really a choice you're now I'm do you need this comes down to are we surviving this journey all right we surviving a part of this journey are we actually living in the process of it yet yes and I've done so much TV and radio in the past few weeks with this whole pandemic this going on in the United States and looking at what's the spiritual purpose of it all and this huge special purpose individually as well as global like and when we look at the waiting versus procrastination many folks are in their homes you know in this six or two months of isolation and what is going on there what is going on are you getting bored are you getting angry I use steak nating yeah are you surviving waiting to go back out or is that man or woman you are today dramatically different than the man or woman who's going to come out of this period of isolation because you have done so much growing in the process I'm waiting for life to come back out and be social again theoretically because we can be a socially now as we were and then the differences were not doing it face to face in person right what are we doing highway simply putting in time and surviving this process are we using it to grow dramatically and really thriving in this process getting to know ourselves getting to know the parts of us we've lost because expression in the American culture we have been so busy running in circles continuously at there's no time to catch up with yourself go go go syndrome I call it right so this can be an absolute blessing in which you catch up with yourself in which you catch up with the people you love and it may be an adjustment the first few days you may know not know if you want to kill them and not kill them the but yeah but then let's deal with reality but over time it really comes down to %HESITATION are you going to learn to love again are you going to learn to open your heart again are you going to focus on the parts of them you don't like are you going to focus on the parts of them you'll not have turned it and it really says who do I want to be in this world tour %HESITATION I want to be in my own soul and so there's a waiting and yet one of rich rich time this is if we choose to make and sell you're absolutely right there I think because you know the waiting can come from two perspectives in King Kong from yelling scared insecure war being very fearful or the waiting can come from the prescription of what you're talking about for being and getting things in order getting to to reconnect with ourselves you know getting to reconnect with their family members because how many parents have worked literally not region they they've been doing what they can to keep all the balls in the air hello there okay they meet each other again they really do I saw something %HESITATION flashing across my phone or something one day last week and Jimmy Fallon was doing like a ten minute at home thing before he does show in the evening which I never really separate enough to watch so but it was fun to see this still at home piece and he started off by saying you know after two weeks in lockdown my wife and I realized we made a really good choice yes we knew it in our heads yeah but we're so busy with the kids were so busy with the show we're so busy with life but being together for two weeks he became busy with each other that is really cool I love it yeah absolutely love that thank you for sharing that yeah so as we wait and we agreed to I like to say we wait yeah and we rebuilt well we allow our intuition to guide us Ashley can tune into ourselves what a wonderful thing and our intuition guides us to work with or perhaps identify for inner genius because US many of us run away from her genius many of us run away from the talents that we have because we think things were so easy for us in that specific arena that we don't think it's important how it you know where I'm going with that you may have somebody who can decorate a house like it's nothing I mean it's just fun by being better than they do it together another person looks at that is thank you hello in the right place that's the inner genius that's how it that we're born with so perhaps this time of waiting instead of procrastinating exist replaced we can truly connect with our intuition that will guide us to what our true inner geniuses two then you're talking about the butterfly it's part of the transformation of who we are when all of your slips with you thought some there's a few things you put in I'm like you say I love decorating to me the fun and the best part about moving is I get to decorate a new place I love moving and because it's a new opportunity to to use the same things I don't throw out and start all over again I use them and sometimes I end up giving away because I'm moving to smaller place or a different configuration or in it doesn't fit but I'm not doing that by Anna Francis said please help me out help me out of that what you do but isn't something I want to do as a profession right all right so that energy yes and I think we have many elements Abbas yes there are really good at many different things but there is that one reason we're here in our intuition allows as if we listen that's a big word isn't it okay to recognize all the things we're good at but don't necessarily want to devote our lives to highs my experience in working with folks is that somebody said you're really good at best and so therefore you should go into that field and because somebody was lost they said sure I'll do that so they go into that field just because you're good at it doesn't mean that's where you belong yeah it doesn't matter big distinction yeah because that doesn't mean that's going to feed your heart in your soul that may not be that he's that brings out the best you there is that brings up a I I just saw this image of a child who is really really good at sports and the father keeps pushing the child because the father has ideas or the mother the parents has ideas this person got that this kid going professional and just because the kid is really really good at that specific sport and your question or question their push how many times have we seen children finally get the courage to say I'm done that's not what I want to do with the rest of my life this is not enjoyable anymore I don't want to do this and so what ends up happening is that we need to and I think for me it's those moments when we stop that we get the opportunity to say wait a minute is this truly where my heart and soul is fed is truly the gift I brought into this planet to help the world's transformation what am I doing here what is my purpose for being here you know what is causing me to be most alive in most me there were two master he comes out in how do we link bridging tenacity where is waiting meeting %HESITATION just being able to tap into R. Y. sin to themselves as well as in your inner genius that's a nasty it's really can just I can see it connecting the dots let's let's take your school as an example okay I'm gonna be teaching their now I'm in a period of waiting until things up and running in a class starts now I can be annoyed and frustrated because what the heck is she doing she should have started last Tuesday all right or I can say it may start in a week in the starting line what do I need to do for me to prepare him best class I can offer right so the students get the most out of it in a way that best supports everybody and so my tenacity I'm going to make this up my babies should be fine my do you notice it like children she was over there I would have put a lot to wrap in a room but she was perfectly sound asleep over there tell women mom is not paying attention yeah even noticed when you were sleeping sweetheart that's why mine's locked downstairs it's like well who's in charge of this program it's me it's me no it isn't my log and so it's been cherished I'm the tenacity says I am waiting and I am going to be offering my best I am going to do the best I can do when it's ready to go and I'm using my time to make sure everything I need to do whether it's in feedback whether it's in handouts whether it's in doing she went away I am going to be so %HESITATION giving and so present and I'm using this time with that in address saying well I really don't care anyway she's not doing it and I don't care if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't do it you know I mean so we can go anywhere we want to go with that if I've got to wait I can wait with the half an ounce of interest or I can wait with excitement and passion and vibrancy right right now is the time to get it up and going seven minutes waiting and I'm still waiting for the little sample did you that we need to get see that see that see this is thank you lord okay and that's something I could get out you know me I can get that out in half an hour yeah so we need to get on to that we're gonna be doing university by the way on the resume I'm very excited about working at actually writing that down is looking at creating an online course I have found that the what at zero are used to your Hey you are N. nominal they pick up the phone the phone they talk with you thank god you're there absolutely amazing so I had to switch from a couple other platforms actually reserved for that reason because there's a live person on the other end of the fall this is the chance today I am going to keep doing the best I can do while I do this and if I have to go through fourteen places to get the best for me that's what I'm going to do message you're asking all while you're waiting to get this going the ten NASA city is preparing you it's bearing the context is all so that we again waiting isn't a passive right we can make it passes if we choose to but in and of itself waiting is at a you know a woman who is pregnant she's waiting for this birth but I can assure you it is a lot going on if you've ever been pregnant there's a lot going on so you know there's we need to me we need the tenacity because nothing happens without it and it's it that's a very interesting image that you're brought up because I know for myself I'm not pregnant woman when it comes to the school I am not pregnant women which and right now we are in love seven is what's coming up for me I'm in months seven and that's true yeah that's true one seven we got it we're getting all the sample courses together we're getting all the videos together all the faculty members group we're doing a lot of the hard stuff right now getting to the web pages ready to rock and roll and cook and by number eight I think this could be a premature baby I don't want to wait nine months okay maybe doing in six months earlier Mr yeah wait a month right we're at the week's perspective we are in about week thirty thirty one right in there thirty two in getting this thing cooking yeah it is exciting it really is exciting so just looking at I'm the chastity that you have and not standing still and doing nothing until it starts then you'll do what you gotta do nations now says I'm getting going on during this time during this and you go through as many of these I need you to get the right ones I'm gonna look at enough people that I need to look at to get what I think is the best teacher program sure right that's it read something up that happened by the way with the school from a leadership perspective from an integration perspective and from any perspective of not listening to intuition not this past weekend but the weekend before I was building the life wisdom squish three schools and intuitive leadership university leadership within the school of business with a formal language in school I had chosen to start with the life wisdom school because in my world what I have learned in leadership is if I don't help the leaders work on containing their stress levels and learn how to become more resilient all the practical tactical logical step at a teaching tends to fall on deaf ears because there are way too stressed so I've always started even when I own my leadership center I've always started on stress management burst well two and a half days later I created the website the webpage for baskets of pink school everything was done everything you know the pictures on and on and on it was I was ready to hit that send button thank you my webmaster it disappear this here I mean gone no recovery nothing I'm going through this thing and it's like I just want to have these on this reading the copy and make sure everything was was spot on well like me I could I mean I cry I just walked away from the computer for three days after that I I was just so upset well I know when I need to reach out to somebody else to get me ground and I was really in grounded with that that really %HESITATION that's specific events really threw me and I thought what is the message here yeah yeah what is the gift and the gift was in no cruise ship this and I am and I was working with another faculty member Dr Stephen Hobbs very intuitive and very insightful and I said Stephen we both went into his own and what became very clear is I was working on the wrong school the first school to launch is the leadership was in school and it's already it was already created I just have to find and so the leadership was some schools going to be the first school to launch and I just sort of went because it felt right right but you Jeez look at what I did I pushed I wasn't listening I I was determined I was listening to the intuition I pushed through and Universidad what we can do %HESITATION we you and I have talked about this before that when we are in well yes we are absolutely out of balance where you need intense not well well is about force yeah man we live in and tanks we are allowing while we go forward and we will see obstacles we walk around them we don't fight them because we're not in force we just keep on going because my intention is to get there and I would just walk around what I need to and I'll deal with what I have to and I am just going to keep on going because that's my attention recorder says I'm gonna knock down every little monthly gets in my way because I'm going in this is what's going to happen and that's where I was that weekend weekend yeah on a weekend doesn't work in our body it doesn't work in our energy field it force does not do it well is not an asset other than in a very short term process minutes you know you know we teach the stuff and we end up teaching what we have to learn for ourselves during not how many times have I said do you we came here to teach what it is we came here to learn you're now on the yeah really so the leadership within the school rock first I think well there's going to be the faculty member doing the women in leadership program which I am so excited we're gonna have a staple on the website you're gonna have a little video of her talking about this year's why she's part of the faculty and it's just gonna be fun really looking forward to it well thirty thank you very much this is not going to be the that that's just not the first time it's not gonna be the last thing you're going to be part of your making the possibilities I asked you are actually also going to be in our waking up possibilities Facebook group on Friday the freedom Friday every Friday I have a number of what we call the heel network a list you get used in a leadership network people of which some rhetorical team members who are you going to be taking time and they're very busy day to spend time with me to help you regular possibilities group members take flight step into their freedoms are really looking forward to that yeah and how many attended many attendant and watch so we can really answer questions and deal with whatever whatever comes up right now at this time yeah this podcast is after that date which I think it may be Dorothy actually you can read you can actually watch that they spoke what either in the group will weaken the possibilities or on YouTube it'll be up there too so thank you this is been a very insightful and wonderful track on leadership our own personal leadership yeah and what we need to do in order to transform so that we can be the best leaders we can possibly be when this is over right and ready ready to go with that tenacity ready to take off and fly absolutely I thank you so very much and to my list the possibility I look forward to seeing you next time your success  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

something refreshing something different something dynamic this woman is our rockstar of course I'm talking about Laura Rubenstein Lupin Rubenstein to ruby team I think you're right I'm wrong I shouldn't I wouldn't wind so allow me to read %HESITATION biopic as she is just one thing Lara is an award winning social media and marketing strategist certified hypnotherapist master leadership coach speaker and bestselling author of the book issue media myths blast dad the small business guide to online revenue she is the founder of social buzz club the influencer marketing platform that uses dignified content sharing to help your content go viral Lara has develop marketing and branding strategies for more than one thousand businesses celebrities coaches speakers and authors across the globe read more profits brand popularity the profit generating strategies a popular blog at transport today dot com maker a highly sought after speaker and all welcome Laura awakens the possibilities I'm so glad to be here you know when we hear the word social media a lot of us it's like I'm so tired of hearing social media what hello Manson instances is there a business that won't benefit from social media the business that doesn't want credibility visibility or more leads yeah %HESITATION there you go okay so when you hear the words so sure media and I know that's your wine hello there's a media what does it mean to you when someone comes to you and says tell me why I need to step into your social media correct business that's why I wrote the book you know social media myths busted because I kept hearing people hard so you know all these things they have going on in their head about it like it weighs so much time and there's so much global club there and I can't make any money and those are all minutes and that we bought into as %HESITATION I would say not aware business owners of the possibility here and they haven't made it fun yet so it can be fun it doesn't have to be drudgery and you can also delegate certain things about it but %HESITATION the I want to inspire people to throw away that mental model of what you think social media is and imagine like being able to have a place you could walk into and connect with millions thousands hundreds of your ideal prospects ideal candidates for your service in a very natural relationship oriented way you don't have to be sales the impact of your sales eight you get rich you know you're really ignored the becoming visible in your sales are on the matter when the market moves in the members move out but if you like shake hands with people so if you think about it like what do you do with a normal networking meeting when you're in person we can't do that right now I knew what can be done no one else can do that you say cancel what's a handshake on social media it's a like it's a comment it's a accepting a friend request it's a %HESITATION you know follow so those are the the in effect handshake and then do what you normally do and networking meetings you want to get to know people like on link then you're going to want to connect with people just because you're curious about them and learn about them so that's a little bit of a beginning of a new paradigm so how how well you know what you just said something like every single time I've talked with you a light bulb goes off it in nineteen ninety eight I wrote my book one hundred Curtis you connecting with the winning telephone number and in that book what I said was yeah here it is this is nineteen ninety eight we'll be image on their not me but I'm not I was number one but %HESITATION when I wrote that book the one thing I said is how you answer the phone is the equivalent to a handshake when you meet someone you just said something that I never thought about when you like to come up with something for you French someone it's the equivalent of a handshake I never thought about it like that and now I can understand my frustration your Facebook I mean I get I get so frustrated when these people friend of me and I send a message back and say I'm a networker I really love to get you know you get it out and then it's crickets why do you bother reaching out and lending me you're not going to connect your response it doesn't make sense and what I what I will do is after a while I will go through my messages and if not if that person or entity person there's a lot of %HESITATION I responded to my message of networking I just unfriend them because why bother having them as a friend on Facebook it's very wise of you to hide message them is that before you accept their friendship or after it's usually after yeah I and I and believe it or not I do something that you're going to connect with somebody other parts right now I'm also test every single one and merit time and when I when I'm less adjusted because I used by when I say muscle test site the body has a bridge don't we'll talk about it too it was only just a little bit of research media bash body has a wisdom and it's something that I've used in helping business owners he %HESITATION and get rid of the emotional baggage and I used it to muscle test when something is right or not right for me and I have lots of tests to people who are friends of me where no matter how I asked the question at the moment and the moment not meant to frighten them and ended up and always keeps coming up now no matter how I do it and I won't accept your French remember your folks have accepted which is why it surprises me when I see that they don't respond the one that Lara well I can't tell you what other people are thinking and why they're doing that and some of them may be spammers are not real %HESITATION but other than it's a good way to tweet him out the way you're doing it is send the messages they don't message back unfriend them I love that strategy now here's instead of doing body wisdom which some people don't know how to do yeah then and there you can check for a couple of things first we'll go click on their profile see if they posted in a while if they haven't forget it you know actually you may not be able to see if they if they're keeping it hidden so once you accept their friend request if they haven't then you know unfriend them because that means their spam or they're not really into posting what I want to connect with them %HESITATION if they are so they don't have a profile picture if they don't have %HESITATION any post and they don't have anything filled out on their about section about who they are what they do and look at how many friends they have so %HESITATION if it's a lot or a little you know it depends if they have a lot and they're posting a lot makes sense that they have a lot in the posting nothing there spammer okay so this is the a lot this your body wisdom will verify this I don't have the body with them you can check the check great a little checklist in your mind and if two of the three are like nope they don't they're not posting anything they have too many friends they're out of there you know we don't you're talking about friends and what I ask why what compelled you to reach out to me and it drives me crazy when they come back with what we have so many friends in common if that's the reason why you want to connect with me then there's something wrong I don't really care how many yes one more question give them you know a second chance saying so what's important about us having so many friends in common that makes you want to be you know what I have not done that it would be cure I would be curious to know what people are saying especially if you did this to twenty or thirty people and see if you got people yet know to to get a follow up and they say you know we're just connected to a lot of people so it you know I might if it was me and that's why I was doing I might say we're connected to a lot of people and you might have something interesting to me that I'd like just to to learn from you because all these people are very interesting people you know so is that shorthand for that I don't know you know it could be it could be you can give a benefited the doubt and then you know you can say in you could have some standard things that you can cut and paste back on as long as you're not doing too many other times %HESITATION because Facebook will notice if you're cutting and pasting into their system and they will put you in Facebook jail make no mistake about it for doing whatever and we don't know exactly what they will and won't do but so be careful sure part it's really bothers me is you don't know what the expressionist when you put in place for the child which isn't fair to the consumer because we don't know what you did we don't what we did wrong well as a marketer we know that Facebook it is owned by Facebook I do not own Facebook I do not own anything that I put on Facebook okay so be very cautious and conservative with your use of it did you read their community rules and terms and guidelines because you will be enlightened and you may be like oh I didn't know that was against the terms it it's not fun reading I apologize but it's not you know it is what it is so I always err on the side of being very conservative with what I post on Facebook because I don't want to get shut down because I do value using that service in the platform but at the same time never ever build your %HESITATION business on rented land we call rented land this I loved that yeah make sure you have your own platform whether it's your own course your own email list your own website or combination of those things you want to eventually capture your community into one of the things you do on wow that's brilliant I really really like that like I said I always learn something new from you I really do it's your I never thought of Pittsburgh's being rented land that impact your so that is so true it's all it's true for all the networks is not just a spoke it's any network they can change the rule at any time they can start charging you they can keep you out of the do you you don't own it well your followers they can shut down your Facebook pages we know people who've had this done to them so don't be a victim be proactive use it wisely and conservatively and then appropriately to drive traffic to where you want no seven people have died I have been listening to who are social media group was supposedly on have said that it appears that Facebook is going away from Facebook profiles and going more towards the personal profiles and groups in a Facebook business pages yes yes yes okay no no no so I'm not sure what you mean in terms of that well there's very little on the Facebook business pages and the fan pages whatever you know and the harshest chase %HESITATION it's really hard to interact on this yes okay so here's the SNL or the no in the US so no they're not getting rid of the pages if you want any traction on your pages you have to pay it is a pay to play a game so and the only way you can advertise on Facebook is to have a Facebook page a business page okay you can just have a profile and then use their advertising platform so the pages are not going away because all the revenue is based on income yeah that being said they're putting a higher focus on groups because that's where the engagement is really happening so the Facebook page is where you source your you know your advertising from and if you're not using advertising then yeah don't use Facebook pages they're not going to they're not gonna do a whole lot of good except for the fact that if you drive people to your Facebook page from your website okay you have to have credibility you need to be posting there just to have something there there probably won't be allowed interaction if you're not paying for it okay if you want interaction and build a community most people now are advising and engaging and creating Facebook groups and eventually you'll start seeing ads if not already in the Facebook groups %HESITATION we're already seeing all kinds of things but yeah remember this is a free platform for many users but %HESITATION you have to put up with ads and more and more creative ways that Facebook is allowing advertisers to do that interesting because I I don't see it in my group yet so I will be out for it and I will be on the look out for it so Laura one of the things about leadership and wisdom and social media is being smart about how do you ship what do you see preventing children perspective and you know I'm all about intuition that's the name the university intuitive leadership university when I come into perspective with social media what is the bottom line piece connecting leadership social media and intuition in your work I think about this a lot actually and I've talked about this for years a lot so as a leader when you go to post on social media do a gut check do that intuitive check is what you're about to post the valuable important and reflective of who you are as a leader you know is it modeling your highest leadership and exit modeling something you want others to do you know that whole work thing about leadership if it's not don't post it you know I like to say use social media for social good so you know if you want to rant it is not the place that a leader rants leader ramps right is that if you want to forward the conversation and something in a diplomatic proactive and inspiring way yes okay so you have to do your own internal processing first before you go post don't use social media to process your emotions I %HESITATION what you were saying because you're right somebody spoke to going these rants I have to admit I just go whoa yeah it it pushes me back okay and I question leadership and influencer leadership and influencer and I was just asked this question recently not all influencers your leaders correct if you really think about it not all influencers your leaders so we have negative leaders and we've got positive leaders an influencer to me someone who just has to be popular okay who has the ability to our influence people regardless of whatever the topic is they they just have a charisma they have all they have a way about them that influences people but it does not necessarily mean either positive or negative and I would like to see that the leadership step up the leaders here watching today step up and start to overwhelm the influencers who are not doing who are not leading you know let let's put the content on in a compelling way that you know drowns out the the influencers who are just festering you know negative or eight you know influencing it moving us in the non positive direction so I'd like to see more positive influencers leaders to be developed and that's you know what I'm passionate about helping people do is bringing out their message making the impact they want using social media in a very positive powerful and impactful way in this room creating intuitive leadership university it is intuitive leadership university is about getting he stressed out lores really aren't leaders but they're so stressed out that they can't you know they they sort of lose their mo Jo and helping them lead off that stress him sure we'll intercom is info that leads them to become into one stop mobile internet leaders and Google business must you know what to say you know what what the practical business Mr I'm practical business mystic is someone who integrates the practical technological emotionally energetic spiritual intuitive when you integrate all of it guess what you become a one stop mobile you become unstoppable a man I think that's a great note J. who basically said Lara you are going to come back right I'm never far away no you're not and as a member intuitively to ship university very grateful to you in the work that you do very grateful for what you do with many of the different organizations of which I'm a part of a couple of them the women's speakers association last year to such tremendous work with them and I'm very very grateful to you for being the leader that waking the possibilities I'm your host Terry will demand I'm the founder and the owner of intuitive leadership and it should have leadership university well we have three schools leadership wisdom school the business wisdom score and a life without school our faculty members are experiencing highly educated people who would take you to a place where you can leave off the stress hamster wheel of life and leaping into is low so that you can become an unstoppable intuitive leader and practical business Mr today we have a guest who I adore she's been in my life for about four years and what I love about her is that we share a love of networking I've been teaching at working for almost twenty five years it's a very very special topic but there's something about the way that Debbie talks about it what the missing link is that most people miss when it comes to networking I am making it successful we often hear people complaining %HESITATION networking doesn't work well guess what if you go in your own little group and you are in the skin on your own little group in your having your drink well guess what you're right you're not networking okay so it doesn't guarantee me that network doesn't work out of it about that little bit but the thing is that networking is foundational to your business it's foundational whether it's in person whether it's on the phone whether it's on to which so many of us are doing right now because we have to do with this by respect Sir let me introduce you to this amazing woman Debbie Hoffman has a heart based follow up expert into speaker and brown %HESITATION power up your follow up she works closely with the relationship driven entrepreneurs which is a network marketers or letting potential clients slip through the cracks because they don't have a readout of very reliable follow up plan in place or prudent step by step follow up system supports them to have more ideal clients saying yes that's what we want yes you're working with them after twenty years working on Wall Street as a managing director with over twenty five billion in sales Debbie took her organizational skills and extraordinary ability to connect with people and created a multiple six figure business impression that we had tremendous success as a network marketer having built an international team of several thousand consumption is also a best selling author and has a forthcoming book highlighting her follow up system yeah well I'm twenty twenty our mission is to support entrepreneurs to share their gaps and get their message out in a big way so that they can create bigger impact and welcome to the show that I am so thrilled that you are here speaking with your waking the possibilities audience he gave us your message needs to be heard thank you so much for having me I'm really glad I'm here the timing is perfect instead many what it eats so many ways so that means you are on Wall Street first you should get out of Wall Street into your own business can you tell us a little bit more about that because one of the things that I find that a lot of our guests do is they were in these big corporate businesses and they take leaps leaps into doing what your heart was calling them to do my story is a little different so I didn't wake up one day and go oh my god I'm amazing at follow up and say I got to teach people that's like that's not how it happened so as you read I worked on Wall Street and one day I just quit because I wanted to be home with my family and I want to make a bigger difference as an entrepreneur %HESITATION unfortunately right after I quit %HESITATION my husband's real estate market because it well my husband's business because the real estate market crashed and we had we went through foreclosure bankruptcy by we lost everything it was devastating and that was gonna be the that was gonna be what was going to be supporting us so depression being a victim all that's ahead unfortunately would save me was finding a mentor I knew that this woman can help me and she did call me out of that hole and help me get back to work again during that time I met a woman who had a network at a conference who was interested in the products that I was representing at the time and she said I'm interested but follow up with me and I did for fourteen months not easy to do and finally she said yes and I continue to follow up with her like I always do with new clients and one day she left me a message and said Debbie you're amazing and follow up you need to teach me your system I remember it as it was yesterday hearing this message and she said I really struggle with follow up we need to talk and I was like what like what are you talking about so I called her and I said to what you're talking about and she said nobody follows up the way you do and people are really struggling with this you have to get you need to do something with us and to tell you the truth Terry I had no idea that this was a gap I didn't know I was doing anything special and thank god she pointed this out to me encouraged me to start this business because I really feel we all have a gap we all have that thing that we just do naturally that we take for granted right sometimes it takes somebody outside of us to pointed out and I'm really grateful because now I've been able to help hundreds and hundreds of people %HESITATION to improve their follow up and get their message out to make the impact they're here to make so I'm just so grateful but it's a very different kind of story like I just didn't know it was anything you need well actually live there a lot of folks I work with they're they're actually very much like you guys and everything just came by and said you couldn't we don't recognize our ingenious we don't because we're so close to it we don't see it it's so easy for us we have this idea that things have to be hard why you are really good at follow up you said it was fourteen months from curious how many touches before she probably bought I I've called her monthly so we're talking fourteen touches before she bought and that's what I see that a lot of sales people today yeah it's not you're not gonna make you may not make the still the first time or the second time for the third time not for time and time do your credit the fourth call she finally said yes so I do not reject the people takes twelve touches for somebody to buy actually can I share some statistics here is I think this will really help so research shows it takes five minimum contacts by the minimum for the average person will say yes to doing business with you but lots of experts say can be between eight and fifteen yeah but the thing is Terry only eight percent of entrepreneurs get make it to the fifth contact most likely forty eight percent of about Jupiter's don't even follow up once like they need somebody and they don't even make that first call right so eight percent are getting to the fifth contact which means ninety two percent of us are stopping short of where most of the business happens and of course those eight percent are doing eighty percent of the business out there and that's the whole point it's all about the follow up right so it's really critical and most people are not this isn't on their radar screens it's like you're not even thinking about it well this is one of the things that I share with folks it's it's okay I teach a lot of traction right it's one of the big bangs what we were doing our sales programs we teach water traction you have to be present in mind body and spirit and be very clear and get rid of all the emotional baggage about sales and interact with people monitor the good stuff to be clear all that stuff out and then they're like okay the raider rocking go rock and roll in the going the network in many no do there while they're doing there about a year or whatever it is their ankle whatever it is that these days and it's like okay Terry I'm not making any sales are how many times did you follow up did you call did you connect you just send an email well no I didn't do any of that Hey Lou so a lot of traction goes so far you must take inspired action yeah and that's where you come in that's right teaching people how to follow up at so what is do you believe that the easiest way to follow up his other email tax this tax thing I'm old school so I don't normally follow up by text for a phone call I I'm talker I prefer well I'm follow up in a phone call or follow up %HESITATION you sent me an email at least so what what do you what do you think it or whatnot thanks what do you share as the number one way of connecting with people well I'm a girl too and I believe picking up the phone is should be the first step most people don't most people send emails and I don't know about you but my inbox gets flooded and sometimes things get lost but when people leave me a message I listen to it almost immediately right I see a message that I listen to it so I totally believe that since you heard the statistics and most people aren't following up at all and the people who are following up our emailing if you call you'll rise above everyone else and people are gonna think wow this person actually took the time to call me right so you'll you'll rise above your competition so that for me is step one and then I used to email right after that but again people weren't responding so I shifted to texting and I would say ninety nine percent of the time people respond to my tax wow that's good that's that's really been working so I basically leave a similar message a shortened message %HESITATION as I did in the voicemail and people are responding so it's been really fabulous I will still recommend to send an email as the third touch point because if that person %HESITATION was busy all day and it's late at night and they can't call you back and they can't respond to your text is leaving they'll respond to an email and then you'll see where how people respond and that will show you their preferred method of communication and then you can continue on that way so okay do you were you just said Debbie at the very last piece about the preferred method of the client's communication can you repeat that please sure aren't yes said the way they respond we'll show you their preferred method of communication some people will you know feel better responding by email they get to their messages late and that's how they're going to respond right some people will respond like I said ninety nine percent of the people I'm texting are responding to tax they're not responding to the email so now I know that that there's that that's their preferred method of communication and that's the best way for me to reach them you have to be aware everybody's so different everybody's wired so differently they really really are now do you find a difference between and I'm sure he can carry us through this that means of this question in %HESITATION where one generation and we do things a specific way do you see a difference in millennials and how it is that they sell are there other entrepreneurial businesses work for the people that they work with I'm really not personally working with a lot of millennials but my clients are and they're finding that it's all texting like they don't ever pick up a phone call right so again you gotta tune into your market and if you're dealing with millennials they're into texting or Instagram or whatever you know they're they're not they're not picking up the phone and calling people back my clients back seven network via Instagram how does that happen for those of us of a certain age who knows I happen to know how Instagram works but it's not one of my fondest media platforms I just miss it might be a handful networking ruby and Instagram it's not so much that they're networking they're just you know promoting what they're doing and I'm not in an Instagram expert so that's not it's out of my wheelhouse but I just hear that that's what they're doing that's where they're going so what is what do you see from where you set as being the number one challenge with follow up %HESITATION there's so many challenges the only one here one now when I give a jury three iron here that I can share so the first thing that I see and this is really kind of an epidemic is that people tell me they use this word they just say I wing it I don't prepare what I'm gonna say when I call you by don't prepare before I go to a networking that what I'm gonna say I'm when I'm meeting with somebody or you know to present what I do I just wing it so they're not preparing the second thing I know it's a big one check back a big one I know I know I know right but they don't think about like this stuff is like there's all this stuff that we know that we don't know but then there's all the stuff that we don't know that you don't know and when it comes to follow up and sales so much falls into that later that latter category people it's just not on the radar screen they just never what I find in the reason I'm doing this I'm so passionate about it Terry's because I see people who love what they do they're so gifted they have such a great offering of a product or service whatever it is that they offer to people but they've never been taught follow up skills or sales skills and so on they're the best kept secret right so that's why it's like people are putting this %HESITATION as the last part making this the last priority so getting back to your question so the number two issue I see is that people have these looming believes %HESITATION that come up that stop them from following up and the biggest one I hear is %HESITATION they're free to being self you're pushing so that's the second thing and it stops them and I help people with the whole mindset shift around at a lot of it's just mindset a lot of it's knowing what to do and what to say and those living believes will drop off if they have really deep limiting beliefs and I send them to people like you you know the people who do the inner work because I don't do I get people with more practical things that they can do and some daily practices as well but if they've got some deep lifelong issue then I refer them to someone who can help them with that and then the third thing that's huge and it's costing people so much money and I call it the number one leak on in people's system is that they're not consistently asking for referrals gosh yes it's and they're sitting on a goldmine and nobody's asking or they're not asking consistently I mean I just hear this over and over and over again whenever I speak I ask you know raise your hand if you consistently ask your clients referrals no one's hand goes up so those are three key areas %HESITATION when it was the fourth one two is they don't have a system in place in a technology I was just gonna say that you can't really beat me to it before you ask for one I gave you for that but they're all he issues okay so and that system is huge so I'm not so I'm gonna ask you this should be reversed should the system be number one sure that they know what to do and how to do it well they don't know what to do well there's when I say system I'm talking to two different things first there is the technology there's the CRM customer relationship management system and email marking system everything is stored so that is number one to get that but then knowing what to do and what to say and how often a follow up and what methods of communication that's where I come in okay that was second system okay yes so there's two system but yes people when I when I start working with me step one is get your system and I help them figure out which is the best fit for them based on their business model and where they're at in their business and what their needs are yes you've got to have a system if not you're gonna baggies and boxes full of cards and notebooks and you know there's a gal a friend of mine I've been talking to for six years about getting this year and she finally got one and it's a game changer for her it's going to well everything yeah she was so much so when you get that business card in it things are very different today with technology so your do you have a business card or did you will bump you know on the phone or you know whatever what is your first name for me I love the business card because I can touch it I can look at it and I can remember coming from Asian in it yeah I do my thing so but that's me what do you what are you finding in today's day and age that people are doing what what is the easiest way for them to get all their contact information to put into this year and because I know for me because I you know and it does take time %HESITATION you know chip card and mission and better not is there an easier way to do that there are easier ways it depends on where people are with their business so when I first started my business I didn't have a budget at all to hire anybody to do anything for me so I would come back from the networking event and I would put their information right into my CRM I would tag them for the event that I'm not that mad and out with whether they were interested in being out classed you know client potentially or maybe they're good JV partner power partner so I wouldn't have been very interested not age whatever they were interested them as I eat you know you grew and my business and I always recommend that at certain point you've got to get someone to help you because it is not your genius to spend time adding people into a CRM you want to spend time doing what only you can do even if you don't think you can afford it you can pay somebody eight dollars an hour in the Philippines for one hour a month to do this for you or yeah and then you gradually increase that's what I did so how did the information during the Philippines so I would scan the cards and send it to them I would put the cards on a scanner and send it to them and people don't I haven't you know copy machines fax machine if you don't have one of those that just take a picture of each card one at a time and just send it to them okay we have done some of this year Ms have software where you can scan it in the information I was writing I was just going to go into that yes in my system I can take a picture of the card in it and it enters them automatically into the system and that is the best because then you can just do it immediately I I actually do it at the event I just take the picture and then I created the tags for the event in advanced and I just tag them and they're down there in the system so that is the easiest way to do it so it's about finding a CRM that has that system in it yeah warrant that has one that can connect with a scanner because with zap your now you can connect technologies together alright so you just have to find out so whatever serum you're using ask if they have a scanner our business card scanner and built in and it's not which one day can affiliate with I think it's nice to know nice so %HESITATION we're getting close to a time what we'll need to close off because I know you have another event that you need to get your very busy lady and I want to make sure that you're there on time because that's where things about networking we want to be there on time it's important to do that because if you get there early you get the scope out who's all going to be their number one on the bench it's a it's a live event and I know for myself on those things right yep there early Sitton acquiring get relaxed June and get clear and then go in and have a good time and there's all these different networking things that you and I could talk about forever but what I know is that you have a couple things to share with it awaken the possibilities audience that I'm really excited about it one of them is in the band and the other one is eight we have a quiz that we took in school folks now it's more of an assessment so it's sad it's a fact like in less than ten minutes you're gonna learn you're going to see you know where you're doing really well with follow up where you're going to score yourself high and then where potential clients in income might be slipping through the cracks so it's a real eye opener everyone who tells me that they've taken at when we got to talk they just say wow I learned so much about myself so so you can go to power up biz quiz B. I. Z. Q. U. I. Z. dot com power up biz quiz dot com you'll get the results immediately as well I and if you want to hop on a call to discuss them afterwards we can do that as well so the cookies take the quiz it's it you'll learn a lot about yourself thank you so much for being here today I really appreciate it and I know that that be waking the possibilities audience has a lot to gain from the words that you have shared with us so there's a lot there's a lot to networking there's a lot to sales but when you finally get it altogether if he becomes a major and just part of your argument it's wrong so trust me it can it's it is something that can be learned and and then there was a great person to be able to do that show me out again thank you so very much for being here into our waking the possibilities financed please dryness and basically group awaken the possibilities we're gonna be talking about all kinds of things and leadership life and business but I'm glad to have you come on in there too and talk about stuff so rains there at Facebook dot com forward slash groups forward slash or weaken the possibilities for to bringing more bringing cast those day with us and we will be seeing you at the next not if you're at your best day ever thank you for having you're welcome See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Miller as I mentioned I'm author speaker coach and strategist I basically help people and organizations how to do life because sometimes it gets crazy so I want to help you figure out how to get the look of black together I think you do live right include well and it's not my definition of right well it's yours but I want to help you to get it back in so they're one of the things you said everybody was resonating was you were saying get off a hamster wheel I'm tired neither do we feel like that so I records of the future you referenced ample hamster wheel but at the end of the day it's still help people to figure out who they are with their truck with it like you said the meeting will be there to it ending impact or what it is that they know that they're here for and they're destined to do that's right now there's something else that you said that really struck me before the show okay was your nonprofit you share with us about that because not everybody has a nonprofit at a non profit years ago yeah it was a nonprofit %HESITATION that I had I I I I I people ask okay are you it is the first time I asked myself I guess I can family no work because I had a new business or block or but %HESITATION even though I were dissolved the nonprofit my heart is still working its worship and leadership and mentorship with the very firm aspect of what the nonprofit with the bat it was basically you know a lot of time and then as a matter the age but you need a while back and %HESITATION hope you along the way you need one that's been where you're trying to go back in should give you some practical advice but also some business advice as well and then if someone even about ideas doctor Stokes Allen's of arm aspect of what %HESITATION organization actually called it the twenty three D. as they will that was called the white the twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen at the I. targeted young I'm young adults between twenty to twenty nine because literally you go through so many stages that Max all conquering you need someone to help you along the way you know someone to mentor you and %HESITATION a lot of times I felt like that age group allowed arms arm gets forgotten people like %HESITATION you know what I got so much going on they do but they need help as well and fell back out was black carded at a school in %HESITATION why I %HESITATION kind of %HESITATION you name it I don't like you said before when we were talking all the possibilities never stop I would always say destiny never stopped you never get you're always going because you're learning new things about yourself you're learning more about your purpose you're finding you know more about your passion you never stop you're always arriving it's not extreme arrive so yeah when you're saying that we were talking earlier yes you get it like oh my gosh yeah I've been around the block a bit yeah so it's a lot well you know that the fact that you're working with the twenty something you were working with thank it says so much about character in who you are so I'm curious what led you to a little bit about your childhood or what got you to where you are right now okay arms so I would say I am a believer and my childhood my father with the pastor in so a lot of what him and my mother instilled in me was that I wouldn't be here just accident I'm not here just to be here I have a responsibility I have a fine and I have a %HESITATION in one of the things that I shared that my dad would always tell us back on when you're not where you're supposed to be are you sure that you know what you are straighter death makes a person that is borne along their journey in their path back when you're almost approaching interstate if you're not where you're supposed to be they're not gonna be able to intersect with you and make patch you're not gonna be able to do whatever it is that you're supposed to do they are me and %HESITATION %HESITATION back always resonated with me that I had a responsibility to the part of me and so I %HESITATION kind of look at you know with everything that I do it you know what there was you know going to school and doing some of that the nonprofit work that I did it with the community and the church %HESITATION you know what whether it was you know %HESITATION %HESITATION even in my undergrad at actress too I always had a mindset that I wanted to be of help and I wanted to be a service %HESITATION that probably is why I went to get my MBA where I got it at region because it you know just how hard it might've started leadership that's a really big thing for me and spell arm just knowing that I'm not just here I have a responsibility I have and I find it in so that often resonated in the things that I did and it %HESITATION kind of got me to where I am today out with the business that I have so you know I have a business but at the end of the day even after work you still have to start %HESITATION you still happy here %HESITATION and if the needs of your clients your customers your audience your tribe whatever you call and be able to meet them where they're at and to help them to not just see what's in front of them what are the down the road M. to help them navigate a looks like scared I love that we're navigating it's a word that I use a lot too and you know when you can help people navigate their experiences navigate their lives navigate your business as you know navigation is about discovery navigation where where a navy family okay so okay we don't sail but my and my husband and my daughter eight eight eight they rely on the navigators where they want and we are the navigators for our clients because as far as described why not all of it is integrated in getting the ship to where it needs now I now have modern day instruments to be active in the olden days I don't have a lot of the you know the modern instruments are bad eight they relied on the sun the moon the stars and we are that were apple show yet one of the things that you straight that I love %HESITATION is to live and not apologetic life on purpose when you do that we from the space of being a navigator can you tell me more about that because living in unapologetic life can be very challenging or provokes you know I get a lot of questions their rights I think that sounds like a loaded statement updated to be it's meant to be alone right %HESITATION you know often times even saying that to a client or on an individual or even you know I think it's organization it they kind of take a pause H. A. they're like well wow right I don't know if I'm doing that like I don't know if I'm being my true in excel I don't know if I'm giving everything I don't know if I'm even pleased with my fellow not you know not anybody else what aid being late like am I unapologetic why am I being one hundred percent you know what I'm supposed to be what I'm supposed to be saying regular born here so a lot of that %HESITATION and that like you said as a navigator as the strategy is agriculture I kind of need you to start asking yourself those questions you know not to be a rule you are to be %HESITATION you know what the word odd not to be you know a a new sense or anything like that just rocks yeah not for them to be a destructor in a negative way but said he had described %HESITATION you know so if I take a pause are you where you want to be alive are you pursuing a path that you had in mind are you you know what I mean so a lot of time and it's funny you ask that I actually had a my gosh this was saying she actually gave that exact word %HESITATION you said it brought back a my disruptors because %HESITATION you call out the thing that needs to be said some are where people have kind of been sweeping them under the rug and %HESITATION you know kind of as kind of asked them why is this you like it this is not you this is not what you had in mind that this is not where you're supposed to breach you know as a navigator as a destructor let's let's make it work let's make a better client less less put you down a different path and let's get you back being who you're supposed to be authentically unapologetically you know that apology thing women tend to say I'm sorry for everything wow I'm sorry he says that there's a place to stay I'm sorry by the way and that place is really you really you know when it's that time a place but a lot of what I'm gonna say women that more so women are you know yeah right we were so sorry I mean I I mean I did I mean what are you up hello judging for he blasted apologizing for and they look at me it's like you're in the habit of constantly change I'm sorry so in the end when it really is time to apologize does it really have the meaning in the act you're absolutely sure I was actually back in so quick story I was at the grocery store %HESITATION last year sometime and the lady in front of me %HESITATION got something and she was like I'm sorry I'm sorry I had to go back in the cashier like she almost took her hand that was light why are you apologizing we need to stop saying we're sorry if you forgot something there's no reason to apologize it's our hope you like it was such a light moment right the cashier myself and the lady was just out of light she's talking to us from a place of not just like you said from the moment the book from blight she was polite we need to stop apologizing why would your house ask because you forgot something you need to go get it can meet you apologizing because you need something your call is asked as you had life happened in so like you said as women we do live way more and I know it is a cryonic it yeah and a lot of that is also inherited because we get that from the environment where we live like you said there's a time and place to apologize and you really want the apology to be heartfelt and you want the apology to be sincere apologize because this fell off the basket or two because I'm wearing the wrong glasses if you get my husband's glasses instead of mine I mean it it's like oh come on you're right you're right ladies ladies and men but ladies all rights are Hollis wrote in her %HESITATION but growth stock apologize that like there's no need what will you know it's a time and place that that that that's my yeah I'm going to add to that there's a time and place and I'm you know what we're beautiful and green and just the way we are yeah and do you live in unapologetic light is to live in our power to to be every morning I don't know about you but every morning I do a little ritual work put myself in my iron woman suit and my woman said %HESITATION let me say I got that and I got the Wonder Woman bracelet on at the Winter Park nine you know and %HESITATION %HESITATION I don't know and what that does is eight okay thank you for I give out loan only allowed eleven so girl what do you do in your and to live here apologetic unapologetic life what you in the morning I would say definitely on having you know title stylist whether you're hiring you're hiring them moment meditation center yourself whatever that looks like for me you know it's it's cut out it's kind of both you know just centering myself Craig meditating and and just no matter what happens today I still have a purpose back so how are things that I was going to do today and if they happen that's great if they don't happen I'm not going to beat myself up but a lot of it for me is %HESITATION setting the foundation of being armed if my one square that day and being %HESITATION being at peace because a lot of times when I'm down that's when you know Xerox yes we can yeah so a lot of you admit that hi back that is to get in one this with myself as to be %HESITATION okay be okay with you so let's pretend that I'm your client I would love for you to share with me how you would guide me to lead an unapologetic lines definitely I would ask %HESITATION what are the things that you're wanting to work on what are the things that you're doing right now you know I will kind of listen %HESITATION I'm very much a lot of time as a listener so as you're beginning to tell me something I'm picking up on the clues that you're not saying a kick in the car even the things that are coming through which your body language hi you're on responding and so a lot of that our early on a news show %HESITATION intake if you will I'm getting a perception of what you're saying this is what you're not saying and then we'll kind of %HESITATION goal so that next piece where I would eat it back you know at the at codes and accounts when they they do that okay so I heard you say this is that what you mean if I want to emphasize that a really good understanding like this is what you said but this is what I picked up are we working on this are we actually talking about itself a lot of what I do %HESITATION working with the culture all right a lot of people eighty eight you're very different in Europe I like yeah I like to live a little I like the list since she and %HESITATION you don't always say what you need like you said we apologize and that's not really what's going on you know we might be up I was asking like you said a hundred black as much reality of the the fluttering in but is because you have a big announcement in a call coming in and you're you're flustered and that's really what's bothering you because you're waiting on news from the doctor and fellow %HESITATION that's a lot of what I do I nationally about really want to get back that %HESITATION understanding and as we begin to do the work of those things that both you said and I picked out we begin to really uncover %HESITATION what what what's really keeping you from being unapologetic was really keeping you from %HESITATION being able to put the pieces together because a lot of time thank you like I said there's a lot that's not say it and I are not covering and I start digging into it because there's no point in me just work in a what you say when it that really won't fix so I started digging at the back and we work on that about the relationship and yeah if it gets hairy what is necessary so it matches %HESITATION I believe me I understand because that's where I go with my clients to and %HESITATION so yeah it's a wonderful thing and it's something we have to do with our clients do we not we have to because we don't hold the mirror up so they can really see themselves for who they really are the beauty with oh wow so many many people men and women it just yet it's too hard for them to look in the mirror wow help with yourself yeah isn't it it can take can be really really intense so when you're one of the things that %HESITATION what we do when we do this kind of work is we have an ideal client find that we want to attract yourselves kinds of people that you love to work with I gotta get back question %HESITATION a lot like who your ideal client who your audience I would say %HESITATION if someone that number one yes my black you know we you can always work with everybody because everybody may not connect to your style your flow and how are you %HESITATION do things so one you would have to kind of connect on that not necessarily you have to be my same age or my ethnicity and my gender my right any of that but you have to be able to %HESITATION error what you have to be able to hear my voice it's been an imac and it carries weight if you were in the air and understanding and so %HESITATION one fact kind of a fabulous %HESITATION I would you know need to know that I'm actually capable of helping you because as a coach sometimes I'm a coach but you may need a therapist and counselor more than what I need are licensed to do and so %HESITATION even in that early stage kind of discussing that adding kind of strange because if you still need to do some of that at all in our work before I can help you with that out of work that needs to happen first as well info from there a lot of time I will I work with clients that are stuck in no stock maybe in their career stuck in their life on their their family situation and they're trying to navigate and trying to find the next step they're trying to find what is that what is the thing that I'm supposed to be doing now and so I work with a lot of clients that definitely aren't bad back passage at intersection I work also with a lot of clients that are trying to figure out how or what what what is my purpose what is my passion you know like I don't know I need to I can get a lot of and I'm like okay you're probably already doing so let's start date you can answer back let's start talking about what you're already doing each end making the making that makes sense and %HESITATION I work with a lot of in that vein as well and then %HESITATION like I said I also work with clients that kind of uncovered a leader that's already in how to I'm sure like you said showing the merits of showing down there Wonder Woman showing them their heating and air irony act are you there I'm beginning to pull back layers to uncover that so that they can walk in the corners of their authority as a leader %HESITATION as well so a lot of cash from the culture in which those are the clients that I work with and %HESITATION we will tackle out of those topics and and things like so one last question what is your super strength I would say I am a %HESITATION intuitive listener that are listed with the sun in show %HESITATION a lot of times I feel like I'm able to hear more than what you're saying and I'm able to interpret that back to you as to be able to clearly communicate what you are able to communicate %HESITATION one of the businesses I had awhile ago we're kind of doing that when it came to helping R. S. to figure out what their mission statement was what their goals were what their vision was I help out with a lot of what I did when I work with our business I had was start ups and entrepreneurs and so I would always say Anya actual light you said everything I was trying to say but I didn't know how to say it in a row that is what I definitely feel that I am great as as you know to the listing with %HESITATION disarmament absolutely great now you read a book right yes yes can you tell us about your books sure %HESITATION the first project I had which was kind of the launch of the new businesses call my matters and it's talking to you about getting out of your head and jump back in July as we get stuck in so I wanted to help you figure out how to get unstuck and back on purpose and I wanted to help you not just as the corporate person that is stuck but also for the person that you can arsonist and not sure how to talk to them not sure what to say because a lot of people say the wrong thing just get over it at that big a deal you can I say that the someone that dealing with you know a crisis and mental health situation you know they need a little bit more so that was the first project I did I did a book and I did the journal and then on the second day it was called my mom said and it's about love in life low grandma I'm trying to teach us how to do like right and well so there's twenty saying some crazy stories behind some of those things but the life lessons that we learned along the way that we wanted to share an arm and Intel about with %HESITATION my audience and %HESITATION there's a book and we did a prayer journal with back and then there's a third book that's called a project it's a many many books so it's a mini C. arm any book in a mini guide and it's called the groceries and is reminding you that the provisions are in use there's purpose already in you and you just have to start remembering that because there's a pro in use like you said there's that there's a hero in you are my idol Shiro hero or just your ABS it out and I'll go for cryogenic it's actually coming out real soon how motivated asked %HESITATION and it's just reminding you that the motivation is the inside job effort is inside you it can't come from anybody else you have to be the one that keeps you going because as it starts with you let's start at work and that's coming out I'm excited I can graduate at the buzzer and I love writing where can it work you both can get your box the books are available on Amazon in my remarks and noble as well as my site on Amazon the books are available skews me audio digital and print because I'm ideal %HESITATION I love idea books make sure all my books are an ideal the books are an ideal digital print journals are just in print and then like I said my the books are also at my website the college shot backstage Jameela dot com so you can get my books if you guys are able to see my lovely shirt FM really arise yes I have what I call message March so I had message jeans and Mrs burns I kind of fell in love with but in fact have different buttons and different %HESITATION message March if you will that has messages that resonate with %HESITATION helping you to do life unapologetically others Sager cranking on our website as shocked as AJ Miller as well okay well thank you so much for being here today and showing us what it's like to live an unapologetic life and all purpose mind you know I love your energy I love how you present yourself to the world and I hope that you write even more books I look forward to reading them thank all right well thank you everybody and very welcoming your host of a break in the possibilities thank you so much to argue Miller and I wish you knew your best week ever and we will be seeing you on next week's show you your success take care GNC See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

S. economy only gonna say that's that's a really great question %HESITATION you know I think a lot of people are reactors including myself sometimes you know so when we first heard about the virus initially nothing to be overly concerned about it's it's probably just something like this yeah we were in New Orleans just at the start of spring break you know and I'll New Orleans is basically a melting pot like everyone comes all over the world writing you on and try and everyone's close in close proximity I mean you could you could hardly move in New Orleans without bumping into someone because it's not so many he my husband felt sick I felt and then I still see it and I think I'm at the tail end of I think it's costing a cool %HESITATION but it was it was very what Morrison for us because I was ill %HESITATION that one is what it really did contract the virus so I think a lot of people and I was responding I was just running out of fear you know we better go back and make an appointment to see the doctor would better stock up on supplies medical supplies and everything and and then when we come back from spring break and my university issues this notice how healthy are canceling classes and then moving to online instruction and there was talk about you know locked in several cities in Seattle is in all is slight at the center of US Oakley and it's it's difficult not to react you know so I think it's in normal human reaction to react to something we are not a custom I use Walgreens you know you really are right %HESITATION my daughter is in a and your friends go area so she's unlocked and she and her fiance the weeks my other daughter is Jane Diego and she's a naval officer and all travel issues in San Diego her fiance's here in Newport Rhode Island and %HESITATION trouble is stop for all the military until may eleventh which happens to be her birthday but that so they're not going to see each other I don't really parents in Miami I just got back and your ninety seven and ninety four it's like I don't even know when I'm gonna be able to get back to them now so yeah it is very easy I I hear what you're saying is very easy no matter how grounded you are no matter how smart you are it really is easy or in the moment suddenly go to that place up across thanks that it takes your breath away and but it is important to have the tools to keep rather because frankly I both now along the tracks your perspective needing that fear just makes things worse the dance you know I I I will say one thing about this fear and fear based responses yes is really are biologically it's evolutionary as usual narrowly sexual he looked into its right so there are %HESITATION psychologists check actually treats a basis once as well phone rang you know straight are out hunting in the concrete base to make they have to meet in this one you know so I so it is it is a necessity and %HESITATION sometimes we need really strong leaders who can look here look at information accurate information and make quick decisions to protect okay so I'm not saying that your case was old is always %HESITATION wrong yes your bass response is based on make sure that how long not all of you actually right not all fear is is wrong it's what you do with that thanks the printer and whether or not you allow it to control you were you control exactly where that bird in the background is it is trying to get a message to us only %HESITATION you know to answer your question about well you know now we are in now that we process the fear and it's kind of some and how do we Roach the situation that we are in in the for more of a heartbreak behind based or eat as you say in a week and %HESITATION the right approach yes arm your intellectual property law professor a lot of us are stuck in our houses yes we're going to be writing people are going to be creating new song it'll going to be doing all kinds of perhaps cracks it's creating a New World order where we really are required in in Franklin I I traction trainer personally I feel that this was a call from humanity for us to take a break and just stop yes analysts are coming together things are happening it's a great time for people to write their box you get their courses together temperament intellectual property perspective because this is a business show no that'll you have a lot of really juicy insights that you can give us to help us with their intellectual property as well as our hearts gentry living how did the two of them combined or is there a combination that that definitely so I I love that question right last year and really speaks to my heart so I spend a lot of time thinking about I mean I spent my whole career thinking about creative %HESITATION and the legal system in itself encourages creativity only to the extent that it tries to protect the commercial value right so you know the market you know putting the walk out and then %HESITATION you are the rights that we're going to give you the right to make exclusive reproduction all right to make specific distribution rights you can sell that you can find and we but but essentially that's what beat the legal system that's why it protects those those rights but creativity actually underlies the whole legal system you know everyone treats you know it's not just your Disney or your model you know with your superhero movies right everyone of the streets it is we need to recognize that while people he too large for listen to the latest Disney movies people right people want that but what people really use creativity for the rest of the work that each one of us do has a massive impact on the people to come who who who who uses those works you know whether it's the rule whether it's after the you know it can even you can just be an instruction guide that takes you from one line in const const transform ceiling into into a different you know like like like like a very question you asked you know how do you move from a state of fear to a state of awakening all right sentence you know even if he'll have a step by step guide that takes you to the consolation in that process that is so beneficial you know I think as an intellectual property lawyer %HESITATION my my thinking is that we need to walk away from the commercializing I mean that's one of his right in those rights and everything we also need to consider racial and ethnic farm wheat only you can do what you do I mean there is no one else is the same ramen experience background you are each one of us is this unique months right and I see this is IT has kind of washing that individuality making and I think creativity is essential it's most important thing I think that a week instead this is really individuality and will need more well we really agree with you I do believe that I mean look at what's happening in our schools with their music programs and art programs in everything had to be an I think you'll you'll appreciate where I'm gonna go with this at that what sunk the Titanic was not seen when you look at a nice for the top of the iceberg is arrowhead brain the bottom of the iceberg representar heart brain so when we connect both were in a very powerful place our heart brain and that's where it gets not seen that create should be that brings out so much %HESITATION why you have to make why do we as parents as grandparents aunts and uncles and teachers squash the creativity in children because we are so %HESITATION bookish turning them into mini me's many of them yes yes %HESITATION you know Terry I'm I'm alone myself we start with all your little one earlier she's adorable yes and the you know yeah she really is her own person I mean she she is inspiration for everything I mean that the whole thing about the hazards of mine is to make sure that we have you will that hello friends in her grandchildren you know what you're going to have it that's that's a lot more because it's just a little because so yes so she she's her own person but you know to be honest sometimes I'm guilty of that too you know because of my own upbringing I grew up in Malaysia and then I came to school in the U. S. I met someone and they Jonathan here we got married we had Juliet so I I have a very Asian upbringing and I you know I don't know if you know the book %HESITATION the tiger mom by image one but she is a law professor are yelling she wrote this book about how Asian parenting is up to her yeah get a lot with the and and what has come under tremendous criticism and and I'll critique but but I grew up in that kind of environment where my parents are very strict and the I remember this incident when my my daughter wanted to rent different colored socks to school like she she just had to wear yellow consul stretch socks with well conducted some and yet %HESITATION but for me I grew up wearing uniforms to school and let Mr socks had to be white and I need to yeah it'll in someone told me that that make me change my whole perspective and she said this was just the statement it really %HESITATION hit me at my core which is do not squash out the height of her that's going to suffer for the rest of her life you know that the driven this that stubbornness I think it's it's it's true that that a lot of us we try to squash out individuality you know because it's easier if you fly it was easier %HESITATION but it's also do you believe %HESITATION share this story that complements what you're talking about my %HESITATION my middle daughter is just a well I've been a big and bigger in energy and on and on she's gate bencher she and her fiance go all over the place I mean it's not even a jump in a car and drive seven hours and and walk the mountains and hiking on and on and on and it's trail as as a very little person she would do things like she would wear a cat outfit I don't you know the little ears and a tail she was three years old and from the moment she woke up to the moment she went to bed she had those years and I tell on my remember people in the store saying to me you know what what about that ago she's not gonna walk down the aisle and that should be fine you know and people saying to me did you three wives and shit why she's on the Christmas she will be sleeping in a crib which you can don't worry or you know she was doing one of the things you love exam but her in her crib and she you know and the smile on her face we all right they weren't sure it should be fine and she loves having a bottle of water before she went to bat okay Michael walking out with the bonding amount yeah it well yeah I think that %HESITATION it's like that you know he grew up in the US and he's like he's like that he's always say don't worry about it gravesite well I think I think Asian %HESITATION our parents tend to be a little bit more disciplinarian you know I was raised just like you were I come from human parents okay so everything is eight eight eight right and I was the adventure I'm like man I was like I was the adventure boy was I was in trouble yeah but I think I think %HESITATION giving a child an opportunity to explore yeah another piece in less developed slowly I think it's really important to creativity is important and when I left to ask you this question it's rolling in my brain and I just have to ask you that you are writing a book about an Asian mother or an Asian pear parenting the adventurers trials yes Virginia adventures trial and the permanent select your property perspective can you share a little because this is really what %HESITATION because their business show and we do integrate life and business together what steps would you take as an intellectual property lawyer to protect the document that you are writing call raising into being Asian and raising and adventurers trials or whatever title you want to get also in question great question %HESITATION so if I were writing a book about raising and dentures our child so I would be doing a lot of research you know I would be leaving leading till it'll I try you know a lot of easy children right I would be weak reading books about child psychology walks on it yet she shared the first thing I would do is I make sure every thing that I use in my book is properly cited so you know a lot of people who write especially those who like looks %HESITATION they usually live for the recognition you know they they want to be recognized as he explained so I truly wanted to all the section you want to start up with will your book writing %HESITATION with them on the right foot so you don't want to so you always want to and it's okay to take blood clots all these attributes those close to me okay so the one I would take as many extras signals as I would I can I know we have a process with the community this call comes from this also this will this addition this publisher right submit so that is all and then I would write my my expression but we I. right what's that I choose the way I use it in a sentence that's all protected that's my question that's what copyright that's what it means no one can compete your expression but again someone can use that expression in that moment you attribute you want your he wants he'll the second thing I would say yes you want your expression to B. S. thank you S. so that even though you're you're somebody else's work no one can accuse you easy because you know that's you know one was how you see it you know and and people need to know the real use so regardless of what you use S. he is the owner you know your references it doesn't matter as long as what comes across in the book is usually when you get to read really here that is so important and powerful I think people yeah yeah yeah in in you know writing a book yes in Asian K. when writing a book about leasing an adventurous trial of course I would be drawing from different cultures as well you know I would see you know in in Asia this is how we operate yes this is how you reach but a lot of %HESITATION you know I wash this title once a bloodhound if Asian parents discipline their child US it would be child abuse and it's true in that there was a I think it was a Malaysian minister brought his whole family on vacation to one the sweet and I think one of his child was acting up and she was you know try to show that he was arrested for child abuse in in three so so it's I would draw from all these different cultures and of course Jonathan was also reaches his file but he's also very %HESITATION you're giving yourself a lot of space to explore which I think it's it's wonderful %HESITATION yeah she takes after him in terms of she loves me a lot of trees in can help yet she loves climbing trees and he encourages encourages her to you know so I would draw from all these different cultures and one thing I would say about drawing from different cultures is that %HESITATION you know you're drawing from the public domain you know you're drawing from a lot of pizza he says that he centric public information so things that are in the public domain that's not protected right so you don't you don't even have to attribute it to anyone well that that's that's a really great distinction there how do you know that something is in the public domain and is not in the public eye me yes so %HESITATION so basically traditional knowledge you know the stories that are told generation to generation all really that's not protected because copyright law only protects speaks at a fixed you know something that is in the book that's protected but but that %HESITATION it's a mission that you know that a provider it is true what of miles or true stories to generation that is orally all of me that's not that's not do we know for a fact that that's one of the meat of this conversation what you just told me about your book %HESITATION in the week %HESITATION transparent of that's that's not a good means we should because it's not fixed well I ask you what of this recording would be fixed you know as a recording but the information itself you know it's is %HESITATION is not the right and so what copyright law has is a very unique %HESITATION distinction between the idea in the expression you know so when I when I talk to you just now well you know right it'll be authentic and being individual in in in your expression the reason why I say that it's because it's because the more individualized thank you your your work it becomes your expression is protected by copyright the movie is once that just looks awesome okay thank you and that's not the fact that it's part of me all right %HESITATION so legally it's important for you to be authentic I think individual but I also think there's a lot of benefit to the rest of the world and to you as well if you are in it individual you how you express one of the things you're talking about low a little bit ago was about plagiarism claims your resume thank %HESITATION %HESITATION that is a real issue I mean I'm a published author myself and I know you know I bet this is my book game changer port Jervis my second solo walk I will never forget when my first book was written in nineteen ninety eight and was called one eight hundred Kurdish she connected with the winning telephone image I was on the phone with someone from a phone company I'm not sure which one and they they were I don't even remember what day when they called me about they had my book in their hands one of the things that I wrote about is your phone greeting is like a handshake in person and they were reading that part of my book out and hire heard her tell the person she was interacting with is we have to include that in our training program she sat there was like here they are talking to me the author on the phone they're not even realizing what they're doing because they didn't realize that I was listening to them which I did and I just don't I was so confused with the whole thing and I never brought that up to anybody when it came to plagiarism F. R. even given me credit for that so it so let's pretend that they did not give me credit work in the work that they're doing what would I as a business owner what steps what I'd hate to say Hey they're plagiarizing is the first box is that plagiarism and secondly what steps what I'd take it what's so that's that's I think that's a really good question %HESITATION I think good practice would be to recognize you for that call so if if I would then I would I would I would ask you first is it okay but it's it's good practice %HESITATION and then if you stay okay I would make sure that I attribute to you for that quote now I'm legally is that so plagiarism is taking somebody else's work and not %HESITATION not acknowledging them for a so legally whether you had a claim or not that's a separate question because the law doesn't attacks first thing the law doesn't protect an idea so it's easy for them to say well I just took an idea right because it's if you say the way you your phone greeting is is as good as your handshake right it's it's a common idea so it's going to be very hard for you to make %HESITATION the claims that they stole your expression you know all the DLC will is just an idea so it's it's going to be very happy to say that that copyright infringement right in the in in like nineteen the book was written in nineteen two thousand there was a long time ago yeah I mean in in some in some countries like Germany and France you could possibly say that they've if fictional model right you know because if they didn't attribute that sentencing us it's possible but in the U. S. to get its its hard currency of the more the US doesn't protect moral rights on a broad basis okay %HESITATION thank you for that was just it was bothering me and I never spoke copyright %HESITATION I need to leave the property lawyer jokes thank you for answering the question that is from the back of my mind for twenty years you're welcome Terry that was my I'm sorry I think I understand I understand so %HESITATION we're getting to the end of our show I would love to ask you what can businesses the M. and very short amount of time you're working business use you to create more social impact especially with what's going on today and could you leave us with a your best idea when it comes to social impact for businesses yes you need to be authentic about the social impact that you want me because there are I need the social media all we get is a lot of moments in the more authentic up an individual yes and if a business is about the impact that they want to make in the world around them of them the better they break through to to the not true that noise in which the right one thank you Elena so much for being here today it's an action packed absolute pleasure you get to know you to me broader thank you thank you a lot of fun and folks you can reach out to a leaner and leaner buoyed B. the possibilities podcast I'm your host will demand and as you know I love bringing amazing guests of the show to help you become unstoppable intuitive leaders and practical business mistakes I I have an extraordinary yes her name is Sarah Troy and Sara is a knowledge broker who shares the wisdom given by those who have gone through the process of light and who now share their knowledge with Sarah on herself discovering media network and this one is like the network she has accumulated twenty five hundred shows I can imagine %HESITATION twenty five hundred shows and she has expansion in place Sarah loves the inspiration that begets invitation and embracing our last semester come to the shows Sarah I thank thank you he well you know one thing that I know about you is you are a rock star in terms of energy and energy and energy and energy I mean it just flows out of you so one of the things that I know your love is business and our topic today is the knowing this business and you tell me a little bit more back than knowing this in business a lot of people like to stay in the head you know everything is I've done this business course and you've got to do things this way and that way and and it must be that and they forget the off their business people are going to buy them before they're going to buy anything from them and if it doesn't come from the heart the soul and the spirit the conviction it doesn't matter what you're promoting a yes selling people just aren't going to be that interested in it I'm not not in alignment it'll west the connection there are trillions of other people out there doing what you're doing how do you stand out right it's not the better graphic it's not this it's not that it how do you connect how do you build relationships what do you of yourself do you bring to the table because that's really who people want to dine with right and if I'm going to do business with you I want to know we have a connection that connection please my gosh it is it just seems like it's coming at me from all directions it's a bad connection people are tired of being sold to us they are I just the products and the services maintain ma'am and they have no idea who you are as a person now I mean have you noticed that your member flash this flash that you have you noticed we don't see them on sites anymore because people would like it's intrusive it's intrusive you know it's stopped pitching me stop frame things at me you know and it's just like you have no idea whether you're actually offering me a service that I need and you won't know that unless you're willing to interact with me you know I find that to be searched you're on certain platforms I'm not going to name the platforms H. as there are a couple that are pretty active on that then I'm quite active on that %HESITATION friendship and immediately I'm doing this this this this and I want to buy into this this this this and I'm like wait a minute you have no idea about who I am what I am what I do anytime you get interested in what it is that you're offering right you have to say about that Sir it's rather like buying likes on Facebook and linkedin does get the numbers what do the numbers mean nothing there's no connection give me you know three of four or five people I can truly be interactive with that we can build a community because support one another I don't need to millions of sheep will coming along it's all about the connection the interaction the participation and you know I reach out to people and say hello hi great to meet you you know and if they come back to me now we will not we can have a call to say would you like to have a chat let's get to know one another but as he said in a concert a serving did you read my bio did you go to my site did you know that when you're setting your yoga thing absolutely means nothing to me because if I get down into a pretzel like I'll get back up again six you and I can make them a baseball yes and you sent me a link I am I request and what did I do when I answered your request yeah that's %HESITATION I can't remember exactly but it was it an invitation to know one another I'm at work %HESITATION let's get to know one another yes and we did and we set up a time I sent my coffee with Terry link yes hi and after two minutes turned into it's very easily very into it is not wonderful we do not sell each other at all no each other as I said Hey come on my show you said I want you on your own you're shaking and here we are in here we connection again you know you know I have a saying is that you discover your beautiful instrument to like learn how to play it and then find your orchestra that you belong to and you know I'm about finding this communities that you know could be an orchestra business orchestra health focused %HESITATION what every day is and when you step into your goal just instrument you know playing that in an orchestra in creating harmony and symphony is absolutely wonderful that's the best invitation that you can send out to people by inspiring them it invites them stop pitching to them that's old fashioned but just not interested in that anymore right absolutely and you know it's interesting I'm giving a talk your locally at the Newport in March and they wanted me to do a talk on the pitch no no no no no no and she sent me all this information and and my people don't do pitches yeah so you're doing a pitch let's talk well let's see can people all about the pitch and you can't change if you don't connect right the goal is to be so connected with the individual that they pull out their credit card in Chennai I wanna work with you that doesn't happen if you're pitching mostly I just lied lied lied lied lied lied lied to somebody else's pitching me I'm not interested but if you build up a connection you know relatability isn't it I relate to you I relate everything is storytelling since the beginning of time around the campfire when you share a story and it relates with someone they want to know more they want to know you what can they learn from you that they can apply to their own life so beat the inspiration because that is the invitation and you're not going to get that in the thirty second pitch I was never any good at that anyway you know you're talking about the campfire and the storytelling is so important and yet the accessorizing of the storytelling is just as important because you have to have more is there do you have the more it's what does Graham crackers and marshmallows yes exactly yes No yes those components the Graham crackers marshmallows and a chocolate the embellishment Aleshin rocks are all part of this story telling and it's not necessarily about your product best known no yet why is the movie industry so big why are the seven hundred and fifty thousand pot concept that why attend talks in order these things listen to because they have become more personal in the way that they speak to you in the beauty of a pot costs is that we really can pull back hello yes we have we got some producers say you cannot say that you can't do that you got ten seconds for this you know you can really rattle the story and allow it to to take foreman go where it needs to go into some beautiful fluidity we love storytelling we love it because we're always looking at how do we fit into that story is that story about me did that person trying in that story can I transfer my story it's always about that relatability in that relatability it speaks to the heart it it's the heart it's not up here hello the heart yes the soul and the spirit yes use a four letter word I love %HESITATION what a wonderful vibration isn't it beautiful it is and when you walk into a networking event and you have the mantle on your head of I am love I love what I do at I want to be able I I don't want to I am serving yes the person who crosses my path to the best of my ability do you remember that please leave out of your head the numbers game yes it's that connection game and to realize as I'm always saying I'm not everybody's Cup of tea but I'm somebody strong cuppa could black coffee right you're only going to speak to people that can feel your vibration this because they're ready they're ready to connect today ready to hear what it is that you have stop trying to pitch to everyone it's not about that personalize I am and that's where that invitation is isn't that that connection is you are your business go in there on that beautiful vibration if you don't love what you're doing how the hell can you sell it to anyone else here's the thing if you're going to networking events a pension to sal mother will turn around and walk away right because quite frankly that's not the place to pitch in to help that is the place to make connections yes we don't want the rah rah rah the sugar high you know we just not interested in that that's the old paradigm and it was T. shattering it wasn't you know what are we looking for in the end M. love is a beautiful energy it's high vibration but in order to get to know if you've got a cat you go to show kindness you gotta have empathy and that stops with you and if you want it how can you share it how can you ignited enough that's and that's the word igniting it in other you are authentic and in integrity yes you are with no apology she's sweet yes sure you know if somebody says she will what is it that you do it is important to be clear on what you do you know I don't mean but it's not it's it's about avoiding becoming a recall a Billboard yeah yeah yes when you sure what you do in those sixty seconds to thirty you know thirty to sixty seconds that you're sharing about yourself and it's about clarity do you think it's clarity on what you do when you come back clear everything falls into place maybe we should be talking about who we are run in the what we do you know I'm I'm so inspired by the people who shared the stories that I couldn't help but you know Shamil it's I think our connection you know we very often have a selling something when we forget about that connection that you are what you're selling you are what your businesses and you know it is it what we do or is it what we represent yes so you tell me you're going into a networking event I got that out don't let me %HESITATION let's not like that well I would love to hear about the connections that are rolled you and the ones that pushed you away Ron Ross pushed me away immediately can I want somebody pounces on your like a puppy you know and and debt we meeting wanted to know if they could school from you yeah and that really kind of repels me immediately but what I am I'm a bit of an observer when I get when I go in I observe what's around then I choose who I wish to speak to an act choosing it based on the energy that I'm feeling or even seen somebody who feels a little out of place I lost because nobody seems to be community Kate in with them everybody's different networking events in everybody caught this time this time that you called me next you know that's the way they are so I like to look for that person that may be a little out of place I'm but I like to observe and see where the energy is going it's very much about me tapping into the energy first because I have to see where that energy zone is and then it's striking up a conversation and you may only took two to three people the entire evening for the entire event but those relationships is something you're going to take with you what it costs the event it's not about how many cards you can get a how many people you can get on your list that I could go home and email them a bitch bitch bitch it's what relationships have you started that now can continue one so I'm very much meat and speeding their way and if I see people running around like chasing their tail handing the contact page bitch bitch I know that I'm not gonna make any connection with them they're looking for the quick six I'm looking for the people who are willing to take the journey yes I believe that when we do these networking events that we really start to connect the moment we register yeah well and it's about asking yourself intuitively yes I really want to go to does this event actually sound like it will have the kind of people that I want to and I am I'd love to share a story about that because %HESITATION a couple years ago I drove up to an event in Boston so I'm an hour fifteen minutes away he I drove up and I was really excited to go when I walked into the doors of the restaurant and it was like oh it was this isn't gonna work this is a global network and I ask my higher self and my to stay you are to stay so I state it was such a good old boys network and that energy was so sick of it it was challenging to talk with folks either I mean it it read and there were a couple of them in there and we talked about things and you know I I you know I left that place it took me two hours to get home and I was on the couch the entire day the next day I'm drained yes I would and it was like oh my gosh what happened here and I'm glad I did what I did because if I didn't I wouldn't be able to share the story but that's you know I'm a business woman I didn't business since I was eighteen years old I'm a no nonsense don't mess with me person when it comes to business and but I do a compassionately yeah that there was no it L. well you know before I started this %HESITATION I'd met somebody who had an ingenious idea for new electric motor I don't think about electric motors forget about the technology I didn't know need to know how it works he knew how it works I just knew I had to get it out there I had to get this exposed and so if it was for me to setup goals and things like this and I'll give you fifteen minutes to hours later but still that because he truly was a brilliant person and quite fascinating and no we didn't go anywhere we will close up and other things that went on but for me it was a really big lesson Inigo and you know you've got people who are going to be invested as and they're looking at what they can get out of it with his least that they can put into it and I'm one of those people that unfortunate after a while they realize I'd really see them and they they kind of stop the pitch this stop the whole ego took on this like she really sees me I'm pulling the wheel I'm trying to pull the wool over her eyes hit this facade of me being the big business person but she really sees me and in that so you know that didn't rewards work in my favor but I just found it really quite fascinating all of this very M. G. ego talk of a testament to Textron and and just how unproductive it really was you know I couldn't help but thinking if a man ran home the way he runs his business a lot of people would go hungry and dishes would never be done with the laundry all the children A. M. best it just a not really it put me off a lot you know and in dealing with business and that way and was then I fell into this wonderful field but it really was quite fascinating because it just seemed to be the puff puff puff in each other up I didn't see where is the connection which is the interest was that the real commitment to anything I just didn't see it and that part there was you know so we're we're sharing stories that have the underlying theme where's the connection yes yes the one thing that I find now I could see the one thing there's a lot of things anything that I really have noticed over the years of the decades is when you're so focused on money yes you lose sight of what is important and when you focus on what's important and creating the connections the money is going to automatically flow yeah know which comes first the money or the people yes hold people always creation not being so practice if you're so practical practical logical that you put the people second it will always be a struggle to attract the success that you seek because they're not going to work as well for you yeah and and I've just read several blocks because about this when you have a company that the secret ingredient in success for a company is well yeah because when you love your people care for your people our compassion for your people and have a connection with your people they are going to work twice as hard for you their loyalty their respect I mean it's the same but if it's a treat the janitor the same as you would treat you know seo part because if you walk into a business and it's dirty that is actually selling to people that you really don't care the presentation is not that suit your janitors just as important as the person that's cutting the deal and I think that the company's success I did a wonderful series on this of let's get sync and it was about the emotional climate around climate change but interviewing change the emotional practices you're not going to be able to change the climate practices and it was so interesting how many companies are working with companies with government on putting people planet before profit and the profit will come and they if you've got employees as I love my job I love the fact that I can really speak out be creative my input is heard if I go to work and I'm not just another number okay click you know I'm a person that that's valued and don't we all want that for ourselves with the reserves an entrepreneur %HESITATION we work for someone we want to know that we count it that our contribution is counted and when that's counted aren't you what is it that you're activating people if you're a leader or manager what are you asked to beating people when people feel that they make that they are counting that they make a difference what do you activating creativity first thought right wonderment exploration you know the possibilities that nothing is limitless you know and that's the thing is we want the possibilities because those create the opportunities and if you invite people that their creativity Mattis you know we look at something can go again that this is the issue that we have right now and you can only see it from your perspective but when you invite everyone else to look at it from a different angle somebody sees it in a different way and next thing you know you have a solution absolutely that is so cool and we we drive where that's concerned because that's the stuff that I talk about my workshops in and seminars and the one question I ask is who's the most important person in the organization and it's interesting to get this you know this year how I manage I get that a lot and I'm like man and then and then and now and they're looking at me like I had three heads of my shoulders your maintenance staff yes because you can't work effectively and efficiently in a dirty office right and they look at me like I've got three heads in my shoulder exactly it's that simple it really is and it really %HESITATION someone very close to me came home and shared a story about how eight person who I believe they had down syndrome as part of the maintenance staff their office mate what shocked at how this person why so kind and generous and happy and genuinely having a relationship with the maintenance crew and after they walked out you're the person was like what is it with you what what are you talking with that person and it made me so sad yeah that this other individual who was quote unquote a leader okay I'm didn't understand the value and the importance of what the maintenance staff was during was really sad that is that person's ego right I'm in a my old company speckled the importance of you this is very very important to place importance upon yourself your health your well being everything about you it's very different from self importance which is ego driven which very often is in security because you feel secure I love who you are you not going to be driven by the ego the ego comes from that in security and you can see it in the people well I'm more important you know I've got a promotion to not get a hold of everyone else and that is that insecure ego drive at the best leaders of those that create lead us yes absolutely so I'm curious do you think that there's a positive you go into negative ego I would stay cold maybe it pride you know taking pride in your accomplishment and what you've been able to do you know pride that I I never thought I could do this but look what I'm doing now I'm and I think that kind of pride ego you know a self congratulation is perfect all right but I think when it becomes the ego that has to bash someone to make them feel bigger that is the eagle I'm talking about that is very negative because they've got to pull someone down in order to put themselves up and that's just not acceptable you're absolutely right you are a rock star so this kind of stuff I'm I would love for you we only have a few minutes left I would love for you to share with the audience about your twenty five hundred pop apps plus the moment pretty bad done about two thousand of them because I have hosts that come and go you know they come in for a while some of state for a while some of them got my god this is so much work as you know a lot of people don't think it is even though I'm doing all the editing I love you know my goodness I am it's a gift in it it it's it it's a gift to me to be able to show someone story and the things that I've learned about people and about humanity because I was reading at the crossroads of my god you know I've really I'm about to give up on humanity yeah I just you know it's not it's I do I want to be here anymore and then I started interviewing people that have really had some incredible struggles and strife and challenges the night yet they've gone through the process and they've taken whatever it is they've learned to and now that calling is to help others on that Pacific journey and it inspired me so much that I learned a great deal about myself my own strength my own carriage ride own abilities which I'm actually being learnt one step at a time one show at a time but it shows as we don't focus enough on how wonderful human beings can be because the CNN effect is the pimple into a volcanic corruption and it's always about what misery we can sell what hysteria can we sell what fear can we sell on my purpose is to actually bring you the people that are all some that are extraordinary human beings ordinary human beings doing extraordinary things because they found the courage they found the strength they found the abilities and they're willing to share anxious to share with you so that you've got the tools of the school skills to be able to walk your own life so it is it is a gift to me I love it I love getting to meet people like you it inspires me it gives me hope for us as a humanity and I know that with with each show with each vibration that we rise up we're beginning to tilt the scales and the more mall we focus on the good and feed and water dot good the more we could start seeing the changes that we desperately need to see on this planet yes we do yes we do %HESITATION well Sarah Kenyon share with the audience where can I find your they can find me at self discovery media dot com in the next month I will be As President of PRIMER, a prestigious national leadership organization and an advisor to the Department of White House Personnel for the Obama Administration, Daniel was a highly regarded and deeply revered leader. Though Daniel was listed as one of the “Top 100 Hispanics in America” along Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, actor Edward James Olmos, and CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, something was still missing. To find fulfilment, Daniel decided to dedicate the next chapter of his life to becoming a Master of Mindfulness. During the past 10 years, he has led quests to the heights of the Machu Picchu, the depths of the Amazon and the top of the Himalayas. After the boardroom, now Daniel has been guiding entrepreneurs and corporate executives in deep dive mindfulness immersions. Though mindfulness is a lifelong practice, Daniel has become known for giving life altering strategies in as little as 60 seconds. When facing extreme pressure, executives go from highstrung to highly productive.
