With only a week to go for the Grand Slam US OPEN Tennis Tournament, there is no turning back now Covid be damned.  I am sure the United States Tennis Association is doing everything they possibly can to make the Tennis Bubble the safest possible place for players, employees, and all those allowed in.  It's a daunting task that is costing the NBA over 2 million dollars and Covid-19 testing every day for every player.  We don't know the specifics of every regulation that the USTA will be implementing but we hope it will be enough. The US Open will look very different from the tournament started in 1881. It has changed from an exclusive men's singles and doubles tournament in Newport, R.I., to a 2-week sports and entertainment blockbuster held in Flushing, N.Y. It is by far the largest fundraiser for the United States Tennis Association.  Due to COVID-19, this year's US Open will be played without fans in the stands and on the grounds. In this episode, Valerie and I break down the makeup of the current US OPEN roster with the caveat that it could change daily.  Here is a partial list of noteworthy players who are IN OR OUT. In order to celebrate Roger Federer's Birthday, LoveSetMatch is partnering with the good people at Federesque to give away the most appropriate gift possible.  The Roger Federer coffee table book is really a work of art.  It's the first of it's kind to present Federer fandom in printed form.  It's a beautiful collection of photos and writings that depict the legend as he should be.  It's a book that I believe every tennis fan should have. To win, simply do these three things 1.  subscribe to our Youtube Channel @Lovesetmatch  2.  Send an email to pk@tennispal.com with the name of your youtube channel In this podcast we are continuing with the awesome IG interviews and featuring Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova.   This episode is really special since it allowed Maria to talk about her retirement moment and her plans for the future.  I also think the banter between these two is priceless.  I feel like Maria keeps Novak on his toes or maybe a better way to say it is that she keeps his feet to the fire! They both share diet and nutrition tips and also talk about branding themselves and their companies.  Jump right in on this great interview! In this episode we revisit the first Instagram interview that I think happened when tennis was first canceled.  It’s the conversation between world number #1 Novak Djokovic and grand slam champion Stanislas Wawrinka. You really get a sense of how playful and fun they are together and how much respect they have for each other.   I love the insider locker room thoughts they share about playing grand slams and their nerves getting ready to take center court. They both discuss playing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and I feel like it’s a conversation that could have only been shared in a time of COVID. I hope you enjoy this audio-only broadcast of their interview.  If you want to hear more content like this let us know on social @lovesetmatch and make sure to follow so we can connect!   Visit tennispal.com to download the tennis app everyone is talking about and access the show notes!  Send an email to pk@tennispal.com for more information. Download from iTunes here Thanks for recommending and listening!

In this episode of TennisPAL Chronicles we look into the benefits of Yoga on the body of a tennis player.  Our guest, Marcia Gray, was born and raised in Washington State. She attended University of Washington as a Sociology major.  Being in the taller spectrum, Marcia played basketball all the way through high school. Her favorite activities are water skiing, snow skiing, and in the gym-jump rope is a perennial go to.  A self-described gym rat, Marcia always finds herself chasing the endorphin rush of exercise and weight training.  "I became certified as an ACE CPT (certified personal trainer), ACE GEI ( group exercise instructor), and then a US Navy Fitness Trainer where I served for about 7 years. While there, I certified as a TRX Trainer and Pre-Natal Fitness Trainer as well which allowed me to better serve the large population of military service men and women, their families, retirees, and Dept. of Defense civilians.  I can honestly say I absolutely loved my job!" Tennis has been shutdown with parks and courts closed and locked all over the country.  Here in Los Angeles, our courts are all city or county run facilities so the Government as decided to disallow people from gathering on the tennis courts.  This does not mean we should stop exercising or thinking about tennis.  On the contrary, this gives us an opportunity to work on those areas of tennis that we always say we are going to do, but never get around to it.  In this episode of the podcast Valerie and I present indoor and outdoor activities you can practice to adapt your tennis for the Safer at Home duration.  Full Show notes here : www.lovesetmatch.net TennisPAL Chronicles is a tennis podcast to feed your passion for the game!
