When Dianna Mah-Jones uncharacteristically missed a meeting, a co-worker went to her house to check on her. What was found in the home was aftermath of one of Vancouver’s most horrific crimes. The double murder of 65 year old Dianna Mah-Jones and her 68 year old husband Richard Jones was as brutal as it is senseless. When the suspect, 25 year old Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam, was questioned he seemed more interested in talking to police about video games then what happened inside the home. In fact, video games would become a major part of the case… as Rocky Rambo’s defense is that he thought he was in one when the elderly couple were brutally murdered. Prince Albert, SK - May 11, 2021 Bernie Herman has been with the RCMP for over 30 years and at 55 years old, retirement was inching closer every day. With a wife at home, children grown, and grandchildren to enjoy, you would expect the veteran Mountie was anxious spend his golden years stretching out in the life he spent a lifetime building. But, that's far from the way Bernie's story goes. For reasons we may never fully understand, Bernie formed a friendship with a young man he met on facebook and that relationship evolved into something between a father/son dynamic and an extramarital affair. What we do know, is that whatever motivated and nurtured the relationship isn't what ended it. While in his uniform, and with his RCMP issued firearm, Bernie shot his 25 year old lover dead in a wooded area on the outside of town. Evidence suggests he drove over his naked body as he left the scene. In this episode Madelayne Klein and I will discuss the story Bernie Herman, and the murder of Braden Herman. I only need to walk a block or two in any direction from my home to see a poster pleading for information related to the disappearance of 16 year old Devon Marsman. Devon was last seen in late February of 2022, and since then there has been little in the way of reliable details, tips, or sightings. The most significant thing those searching for him have learned is that Devon seemed to have maintained two separate sets of personal relationships. One group his parents knew about and another group they didn't. As you may have guessed it’s the later group are the people Devon spend his last known days with... and their ever evolving stories have done nothing but obscure the trail left behind. Ryan Sommers has a rather remarkable story to tell. Back in 1994, when he was a student at C.P. Allen High School, he was involved in an economics project in which groups of students started businesses. Ryan's group decided on running a sort of gambling scenario that involved bringing a cow to the school's sports field, and having people wager bets on where it would first poop. As you will hear in this episode, the entire event went horribly wrong, and resulted in a cow chase involving RCMP, animal control officers, and large groups of excited school kids. the Story of Lionel Desmond

the Story of Lionel Desmond

2024-02-0701:09:07

On Jan. 3, 2017, Afghanistan war veteran Lionel Desmond bought a semi-automatic rifle, dressed himself in camo, and snuck through the woods to his family home. Inside he shot his mother, his wife, and his 10-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself. The factors that led to this horrific outcome, and the red flags missed/ignored along the way were the topics of a public inquiry that has just concluded. In this episode a sort of eclipse in storytelling and case analysis will occur as co-host of the Sunday Night Show series, Adam Rodgers, served as the deceased Lionel Desmond's legal representative in the inquiry. Using insight gained through the inquiry, Adam Rodgers will walk Paul Palango and I through the story of Lionel Desmond, the deaths of Lionel and his family, the search for accountability, and where we are at today. this Paul guy is an idiot. He is one of these old blowhards that think that their opinion reigns supreme. That it's the only way to think, and there's no room for a different way of thinking. He doesn't speak for everyone. That's why an opinion is an opinion. And in my opinion he's an idiot!

Such a terrible story. A beautiful young life, just gone. It sounds terrible to admit, but I do like the darker direction of this Nighttime podcast series. I think we need to shine a light into the darker areas of life..... and death.

I am a big fan, and was hoping to have you guys look into the horrific story of Clude Marshall. In 2015 Clyde and his girlfriend brutally murdered a man in his apartment followed by a manhunt. What ppl don't know is that Clyde is a autistic man who was brutally neglected, beaten, raped and abused in ways that are scary. His first foster parents left him.chained outside to a doghouse. When he was 12 he was sent to the infamous Elan school in Poland, Maine, USA. I was there with him, and even though he has the mentally of a 7 year old, they put him in boxing rings daily, tortured him, sleep.and food deprived him, and what is worse is he was being raped by a older teen there, I walked in on it, and staff punished Clyde for being raped. The story in the Canadian newspapers do not tell the real story of what happened when he killed that man, because Clyde took the fall for gis girlfriend, you may wonder why, but i think between his trauma and autism he just wanted to be loved, and would do

This had to be difficult for Camille. It's obvious she has been dealing with her doubts about her ability to be helpful to Riley and her feelings of guilt. I hope she does take care of herself and has support working through all of the inevitable grieving and healing. I thank her for agreeing to to share as I hope better understanding will help us all be better able to support and respond when we see anyone struggling.

This episode was (thankfully) not what I expected, and was actually a very thoughtful and relatable critical analysis. This guest was wonderful! We need to have more conversations like this about radicalized young people, the interpretations and the implications.
