An important part of any political campaign is gathering endorsements from well-known individuals or respected organizations. Our guest Jeff Burdick, who operates SactoPolitico.com, discusses some of the endorsements Buzz Patterson has received in his challenge of Rep. Ami Bera for California’s 7th Congressional district. While the endorsements Patterson has received are not unique for a Republican, Burdick contacted 13 organizations, including the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce’s political action committee asking them if they were aware of some of the groups Patterson has associated with his campaign. Burdick's story on Patterson and ties to his campaign can be read here. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/elk-grove-news/support

By John Hull | Did you know that 37 states are allowing their student/athletes to play sports right now? But, in California, there is just outdoor conditioning. Right now we should be talking about the halfway point in the high school football season, but no one has touched a football in California. Today on the Sportsminute I talk with Rod Edmiston, the athletic director for the Elk Grove Unified School District. He, like many other coaches and athletic directors in the state, are frustrated that athletes can’t do some sort of scrimmaging. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/elk-grove-news/support

As we post this edition of Elk Grove News Podcasts recorded on the evening of Thursday, October 1, we must acknowledge the news of President Trump and the first lady’s COVID-19 diagnosis. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope this serves as a stark reminder to follow medical and scientific protocols to prevent the spread of the deadly virus that has already killed over 200,000 fellow Americans and countless others worldwide. Science matters. In this edition, we have a discussion with Jeff Burdick who recently started SactoPolitico.com - a website focusing on Sacramento area politics. Jeff discusses his recent story examining the dramatic changes in voter registration in Elk Grove and how it might affect the city’s new by-district elections, in District 3 in particular. If Jeff’s name is familiar, he ran for the Democratic nomination for California’s Seventh Congressional District in the March 2020 primary against Representative Ami Bera. The story referenced from SactoPolitico.com regarding Elk Grove voter registration can be viewed here. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/elk-grove-news/support
