It merges high-end street wear design with impact-driven social messaging. The vision for the brand came from Kelsey and Christian's desire to start a fashion brand  where clothing is seen as a site where racial and cultural tension and anxieties can play out. Whenever an unarmed black man is killed, I get a call from my mother and sometimes I hesitate to pick up. It’s painful to hear the fear and worry in her voice. And I know it’s her calling even before I look at my phone — the ring tone even sounds different to me. Those notes land on my tiny ears differently when my mom calls. So this time I decided to call her and record it for you to listen to. Because when people ask me how I’m doing right now, the honest response is I’m thinking about my mother. I’m thinking about how she's doing. So this episode is about that.

Logan Stone is a director and filmmaker from St. Louis, Missouri. His company, Cinestone Pictures, is a digital media creative collaborative that produces independently funded films, music videos, and other digital media with a commitment to artistic vision and originality. Logan has directed music videos for artist like Rick Ross, and he recently filmed a documentary for MMA fighter Cowboy Cerrone leading up to his fight with Connor Mcgregor in January. In 2018 Logan completed first Feature film, “Noise and Color”. Its a SCIFI movie about a young man abandoning his decaying hometown in pursuit of the door to salvation.  Logan’s passion for film-making goes back to his childhood - like a lot of us he was inspired by films and cartoons, but he also was inspired by his own father who could often be found with his camera in hand shooting photos of Logan and his family and friends. In this episode you'll hear how passionate Logan is about film-making and how he got to a point where he could recognize his creative impulses, say F*CK yes to them, and run towards them. Viv and Vik are twin brothers, their parents are from South India and their family has lived in Toronto, New Delhi, New York, and Chicago. Welcome to Episode 2 of Season 2 of SYHDE. This season, we’re interviewing people who are pursuing their creative passions and I’m really excited for you to hear from Viva Shastry. Viva is a dancer & actress who’s been heavily involved in both for most of her life. She comes from a family of artists. Her father, in particular,  was in a drama group in Bangalore, India called Benaka that still exist today--he also started a drama company in when he came to the U.S.. Viva has charted her own path, though. She works in a hospital and is passionate about mental health and women’s health. She draws inspiration from the many people in her life and the many places she’s lived, which includes  in India, Dubai, Italy, and the U.S. Her episode dives into more about her cultural experiences and passion. Check it out! Niranjan sat down with his good friend recently to talk about the art & cultures that inspire her passions and the people who’ve supported her along the way. As you’ll hear though, Viva doesn’t need too much help. She’s already a force to be reckoned with.

On Season 2 of SYHDE, we’re interviewing people who are pursuing their creative passions. For our first episode, we have Abhi Kanakadandila: an artist who has roots in Hyderabad, Chicago, and St. Louis. Abhi (Dandila in the rap game) sat down with Jeremiah recently to talk about his journey growing up in the suburbs of St. Louis, being a part of the NYC underground hip hop scene, & creating new art in LA. On SYHDE we interview people and get them to share their story for the purpose of inspiration, motivation, and human connection. This week our guest is Fumnanya Ekhator! She is a 27 year old Nigerian woman who’s lived in Lagos, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and D.C.. Check out her resume: she’s worked in the white-house, she’s at Penn law and is in the process of acquiring her 2nd ivy league degree, AND she has a prominent youtube Channel that’s amassed over 40 thousand subscribers to her page. But these accomplishments didn’t come easy—during her journey, she’s experienced moments of intense criticism for simply being herself. She’s never let that stop her from progressing though, and she’s adapted the principle that her father expressed to her at a young age—that Fumnanya has the final say on who and what she is. He always had a passion for the space, but not until he was exposed to the diverse city and his experiences in college did he pursue it. The conversation centers around understanding people and their identity through their own terms, and how having deeply humbling experiences can impact your own growth and personal perspective, among other things. You'll learn more about her unique perspective and SYHDE through this listen!

In this episode, you learn about Chaitra Betageri, a lawyer in San Fransisco who has interesting journey from growing up in both Alabama and Southern California, and how those experiences played a role in her early belief systems. She talks about how she was encouraged at a young age to speak up, understood the importance of different perspectives, and why it led her to keep balance as an essential principle for herself. You also hear a little bit about her eclectic sports teams, and her fascination with Big Baller Brand (mainly because she went to the same high school as Lonzo Ball).
