On this episode of On the Mic w/ Ray White, I reflect on my experience celebrating Juneteenth in Salem, Oregon. I had the opportunity to attend events, Juneteenth Celebration and NAACP Salem Keizer chapter Fundraiser dinner. There is so much power in the black community coming together to celebrate. I also discuss the challenges our Black community faces in education, the judicial system, home ownership, and community safety, underscoring the need to address these issues to create opportunities for future generations. I want to encourage you to become culture change leaders in your community and help advance equity within organizations. We must build relationships, gain insights from individuals impacted by the change, and create a sense of belonging for every identity. Change starts with each individual utilizing their unique gifts, position, power, prestige, and perspective. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raymond-d-white/message

In this episode of On The Mic W/ Ray White, we discuss how to assess diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in organizations. Our DEI efforts should not be performative and should have some meaning behind them. The assessment part of DEI can be done through a formalized process that looks at the organization's practices, policies, and leadership, but it can also be done through critical self-reflection and asking questions that turn organizational values into actionable steps. Thriving, belonging workplace cultures are designed when organizations have a clear sense of our mission, vision, and values and adopt anti-racist and restorative practices to ensure a sense of belonging for all identities in the community.
