This week we welcome Newstalk reporter Shane Beatty. We discussed his career path through the Irish media industry and being a reporter at the forefront of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The boys are back, kinda. With travel restrictions having been in place for the past three months our ability to interview has been slightly altered. However thanks to the beautiful medium of Zoom we now have a whole host of fresh interviews ready for you to enjoy, starting with the one and only Michael Fry! Michael has made his name through his brilliantly funny sense of humour and sketches online and we talked all about that, life in the age of Corona, and the Dublin housing market to boot. It's good to be back, we hope you enjoy!
This week's episode brings you an interview with DJ and founder of the collective, Lost, Eoin Lyons. We talked to Eoin about Lost's humble beginnings back in his hometown of Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, bringing the idea to Dublin and we also took a wider look at Dublin nightlife in general and how it stacks up to cities abroad. An interesting and insightful interview that's well worth a half hour of your time to listen to!
Today we welcome FM104 DJ but more importantly proud Waterford woman Emma Nolan. In a lively discussion we talked about Emma's already journeyed radio career, the rapidly expanding Irish hip-hop scene and her love for Waterford.
This week's guest is MPS alum, former Deputy Head of DCUfm and Off The Ball presenter, Eoin Sheahan. We travelled to Eoin's HQ in the Off The Ball studio to chat with him about a range of topics including his time at DCU, how he broke into the ranks of OTB and of course we picked his brain for some opinions on the sporting world around us.
Today we welcome content creator and Mary Lou McDonald's best mate, Darren Conway, to the podcast. We talked to Darren about his humble beginnings growing up in Finglas, gaining notoriety on social media, his love for Dublin culture and much more!
In this episode, we talk to one of the leading lights in the Irish hip-hop, JyellowL. With a string of successful singles, an appearance on the FIFA 20 soundtrack and a quickly approaching album, it's been an exciting time for J and you can hear him reflect on all of that and more in this episode!
Today's episode sees us chat to accomplished author and journalist Eithne Shortall. We chatted to Eithne about her literary works, her career in journalism, her to time studying in our beloved DCU as well as many more interesting topics in between.
After a two and a half month hiatus we are back, and what an episode we have for you today. Today's guest is veteran radio broadcaster and journalist Matt Cooper. Matt invited us to Marconi House where we chatted about Matt's own career in journalism and broadcasting, his views on the current state of Irish media and, among other things, Matt's trip to North Korea with NBA star Dennis Rodman, and of course we had time to talk about his beloved Leeds United also. Hope you enjoy!
In a special live episode of ICW, we chatted to Craig McHugh (Vice-President of the Dublin region of the USI), Cathal Curry (Project Manager at social enterprise, Giveback.ie), Paul Kelly (Manager of Youth Services at Focus Ireland) and Laura Horan (Community Fundraising Executive at Focus Ireland and former DCU student). The topic of conversation was the homelessness epidemic here in Ireland. The panel gave us valuable insights into their experiences in battling the crisis and in Laura's case, an insight into being homeless herself. Thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking discussion, more of which need to happen. Massive thanks to Ruth and Katie, DCU Volunteer, the DCUSU and to Focus Ireland for letting us host. Enjoy!
We’re back! After a long summer break we are back with a brand new interview with Irish indie/alternative band Brave Giant. We talked to Podge and Ross from the band about their upcoming album, White Pink + Blue, and their nationwide tour starting this Sunday in their native country of Longford (which we still don’t believe exists).
We sat down with Shaun Dunne and Robbie Lawlor, the minds behind "Rapids" a documentary theatre piece highlighting the stigma surrounding HIV in Ireland. We also chatted with Ellie Marley, a current student in DCU, doing a PhD exploring shame in the narratives of women living with HIV in Ireland. In the interview Shaun and Robbie discuss their own personal connections to the piece and we also take a wider view at the attitude surrounding HIV in Ireland today.
A lovely chat with new face of The Sunday Game and decorated sports broadcaster, Joanne Cantwell. We asked Joanne about how she rose through the ranks of Irish media as well as her athletic career, her time in DCU and a few more little tidbits here and there.
After a brief hiatus, we have another interview for you to enjoy. This time with sports broadcaster and fierce athlete in her own right, Jacqui Hurley. We talked to Jacqui about her early upbringing in Australia, her adoration for all things sport and her role in the brilliant 20x20 campaign. Enjoy!

In this interview, we chat to Mario about the story of his career along with hearing some classic old and new impressions!

Now, Ross is branching out into his own music, with the release of a new single Sunshine Day. We talked to Ross about his start in mixing and the DJ scene, along with his plans for the future.
In this episode of the podcast, Colm and Gavin talk to on-the-rise music producer and artist Chris Kabs. Chris has lived in Congo and Sweden but has made Ireland his home for most of his adult life, where he's made a name for himself as a producer for Irish acts such as JYellowL and Tebi Rex. Chris also works on his own material, with his new song 'No Justice, No Peace' based upon the Black Lives Matter movement. We talk to Chris about his love for music and his story as writer and producer, along with a dive into the issues of racial injustice that have engulfed the news in recent months.
An ICW first, repeat guests!! For the first time, we have guests returning to the show, none other than our favourite Kildare duo, Tebi Rex. We welcomed the boys back on after our first meeting wayyyy back in October 2018. Since then the boys have released a successful album in 'The Young Will Eat The Old', played their own headline show in Lost Lane and were about to embark on their first trip to the US to perform at SXSW before COVID reared its ugly head. Laughs all the way through as we caught up with the guys.
Today we welcome Irish international hockey player Chloe Watkins to the podcast to talk about that historic run to the 2018 World Cup final, qualifying for the Olympics and the 20x20 campaign among many other things. Hope you enjoy!
