This week I had the pleasure of interviewing a fellow HCI graduate, Debbie Thompson, owner of Breakthrough Wellness Coaching. Debbie is a health & life coach specializing in helping professional women over 40 loose weight permanently, heal emotional & binge eating, and stop being held back by fear. Debbie has been helping people live their own Cinderella story for over 30 years as a social worker, community mentor, leadership development professional, and now coach. Her clients have called her to approach backslide-proof and game-changing.After struggling with eating disorders in her teens and early 20's she found permanent recovery. Then she found herself in a different kind of food struggle when she turned 40 and her body changed. Not only did she gain weight steadily even though she wasn't doing anything different, but she developed gout, digestive issues, trouble sleeping, cravings, and pain walking up and down the steps. Cutting calories and exercising didn't make any difference. At 46 she found the right information for weight loss over 40. Little did she know it would clear up all of her physical symptoms too. Throughout her life, Debbie also struggled with fear and then found freedom from that during this time too. When she learned about coaching, she felt like it had her name written all over it. She thinks of herself as a habit whisperer, food hacker, and mindset shifter. It's Debbie's mission to help women remove and transcend food and fear issues so they can take all that energy and go live to the full. This week we take a deeper dive into emotional eating as she shares her tips to break the emotional eating cycle. If you are an emotional eater or know someone who is you will want to tune into this podcast.___________________________________________________________________________________Don't forget to subscribe to my podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or Soundcloud. As a health and fitness coach, I often hear from my clients " It's so hard to stay motivated." I know, and I get it. Things come up: work, life, school, family and friends. We can easily get off track of our wellness goals when obstacles come up and it can be very hard to "get back on the horse" when we have fallen off. I like you, have struggled numerous times with motivation. I know, shocker right? But it's true, I am currently struggling with motivation due to my busy schedule of teaching 9 group fitness classes a week, training 5 clients, and managing my health coaching business and podcast. I can easily get off track because I am tired, too busy with work or school or just do not feel like it because of the weather or lack of sleep. I can say the heck with the workout or cooking a healthy meal and fall into the trap of eating unhealthy and being lazy and honestly, there are times when doing nothing is what my body needs. That being said, having an occasional break here and there are ok, but when it becomes a habit, when it becomes an everyday thing of watching Netflix and chilling when you could be at the gym or meal prepping, that becomes a problem. So you are probably wondering how on earth do you stay motivated to keep up your healthy habits even when you do not have the energy to do them. That, darling, is exactly what I am covering in this week's podcast. ___________________________________________________________________________________ADDED BONUS: Get my at home strength and stretch workouthttps://bit.ly/2l837KP___________________________________________________________________________________Don't forget to subscribe to my podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or Soundcloud. How much sleep do you get a night? Is it enough?Even if you’re getting seven hours, you may need more, because if you’re not feeling rested upon waking, you could be sleep deprived. As a society, we don’t get enough sleep. Whether we’re staying up all night to study, working late, or just having fun, we’re getting to bed later, and it’s affecting our health. Short-term and acute consequences of sleep deficiency impact judgment, mood, ability to learn and retain information, and may increase the risk of serious accidents and injury.Meanwhile, long-term chronic sleep deprivation, defined as routine sleep insufficiency, may lead to a host of health problems including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even early mortality. Whether dealing with acute or chronic sleep deprivation, it’s important to address the cause right away. The bottom line is that sleep is crucial to our health because the body simply cannot perform or function optimally without the restoration that sleep provides. If you’re looking for ways to improve your sleep habits and want to learn more about the importance of sleep for optimal health, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of this resource!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Get my FREE E-book "Naural Sleep Solutions."___________________________________________________________________________________Don't forget to subscribe to my podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or Soundcloud.
