In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin welcomes Bett Lucas back to the podcast. Bett was a guest on episode 40, and she shares how her life has changed since her last visit. Gin’s new book Clean(ish) is available for preorder! Gin wants to show you how to become clean(ish) where it counts:  you’ll learn how to eat (mostly) clean and live (mainly) clean as you unlock your body’s natural ability to self-clean.   Instead of aiming for perfection (which is impossible) or changing everything at once (which is hard, and never leads to lasting change), you’ll cut through the confusion, lose the fear, and embrace the freedom that comes from becoming clean(ish). As you learn how to lower your toxic load through small changes, smart swaps, and simple solutions, you’ll breathe a (clean) sigh of relief and embrace your own personal evolution toward becoming clean(ish).Go to https://www.ginstephens.com/cleanish.html for more information. The book will be released on 1/4/22, but you can preorder now through Amazon or your favorite online book retailer. Preordering is really important, as it gives the publisher an idea of how many books to print.  Bett lives her best life in Washington state, where she is a busy mother of six children. She also hosts a podcast, Living Your Big Bold Life. Her podcast helps listeners to 'live boldly in the areas of health, career and family."BIG NEWS! We have made some major changes in the Delay, Don’t Deny membership community, including moving to a whole new platform. Our old platform had some bugs and issues with functionality which kept us from connecting as easily as we hoped, so we have moved the entire community. It’s new and improved—and we are already feeling at home. If you’re looking for intermittent fasting support in a cozy community that celebrates the clean fast, you can now join us by going to ginstephens.com/community. And, if you were a Delay, Don’t Deny Social Network member who was under-whelmed with the experience, we promise the new community has everything we hoped for but didn’t have on the old platform. You can connect directly with Gin in the Ask Gin group, and she’ll answer all of your questions personally. If you’re new to intermittent fasting or recommitting to the IF lifestyle, join the 28-Day FAST Start group, and both Gin and the other group members will walk virtually beside you each day of your FAST Start. After your fast start, join Gin and other community members for support in The 1st Year group. There are many more useful spaces beyond these three, and you can join as many as you like. Members of the DDD Community have access to all episodes of Intermittent Fasting Stories streaming within the community platform, ad-free! You can even download them to your device and listen off-line. That’s just one reason to join. Visit ginstephens.com/community to join. However, this time the weight was not budging!Kristi found IF through a Weight Watchers online community chat. Then a friend told her about Delay, Don't Deny, and the DDD Facebook group. She also read Fast Feast Repeat and The Obesity Code. Kristi says: "IF was the first thing that made sense!" She began with a 16:8 protocol, quickly moving to 18:6. After three months of IF, she lost 30 pounds! Kristi's health benefits: A great deal of energy, and she no longer has heartburn, nor restless legs. Her advice to new IFers: Don't stop! In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Barbara DeLeo from New Zealand. The Delay, Don’t Deny community has a new home! Go to ginstephens.com/community to join. When we moved our community off of Facebook in March, we chose a platform that we thought would meet our needs and allow us to connect with each other in meaningful ways. Unfortunately, once we all got there, we realized the technology that looked so amazing on the back end actually didn’t function well when members arrived. Their technology was antiquated and simply didn’t work. Ouch. We knew the community deserved something better and immediately started looking for a solution. Well, we found exactly what we were looking for. The new community platform is easy to use, has the features our members asked for, it’s technologically stable (HOORAY!), and it already feels like home. So, if you tried out the Delay, Don’t Deny Social Network and found the technology to be clunky, we promise you won’t be disappointed with the new platform. Go to ginstephens.com/community to learn more and to join. Community has been such an important part of my journey. Join us, so we can be a part of yours. We can’t wait to meet you! Barbara DeLeo is a romance novelist. She shares that she did not struggle with weight until after college. She rigorously exercised, watched what she ate, and followed various diets, but nothing seemed to work. By the time she was fifty, Barbara was burned out from all the extreme workouts and diets. Through the years, Barbara had heard about IF, but thought it was crazy. But when friends encouraged her and her husband to try IF, she thought, "It’s the only thing I haven’t tried, so let's do it!" Barbara researched IF, found The IF Podcast, and listened to every episode! She read, Delay, Don't Deny and The Obesity Code. She dove right into the IF lifestyle, and has not looked back! Two years later, Barbara is down two dress sizes.  Barbara’s advice to new IFers: There’s no hurry with IF. It is a definite shift in thinking, and it will bring you freedom. Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. Abby was a lifetime dieter, trying every new diet that came along: from low calorie to low carb, and everything in between. The diet would work, but then Abby would gain back all of the weight she lost. By 2017, Abby reached her highest weight and decided to give up. She thought, "I'm done fighting. I'm just a large girl." But Abby was still unhappy with her weight, and worried about her health. In 2019, she overheard a group of ladies discussing IF. Abby researched 'intermittent fasting,' and found both Delay, Don't Deny, and The Obesity Code. She also joined the DDD Facebook group. Abby began with 16:8, quickly moving to 23:1 within weeks. She has gone from 225 pounds to 182 pounds, which is the smallest she has ever been! Abby's advice to new IFers: "Look to the science behind IF. Join the IF support groups. He began IF in the Summer of 2020, and a year later, his depression has drastically improved. He's also lost 30 pounds!David's advice: If you think you can do it, you definitely can. IF is easier than you think. Our bodies were built to eat this way. David also wrote a book, How Not to Kill Yourself; Ten Tips for Troubled Times. He wrote it to bring hope for those who struggle with depression, and the ones who love them. She played basketball in high school and college but injured her back, and eventually needed surgery. This affected her activity level, which caused weight gain. This also began Katie's cycle of dieting. In 2019, Katie learned about IF from her principal. She began with a 16:8 protocol, but quickly moved to 20:4. She has lost 40 pounds.Katie has experienced clearer skin, a major reduction of inflammation, and less back pain. She is in the process of healing diet mentality, and she loves how IF has freed her from the constant worry about food. Katie's advice: Use an app to track your fasts. Everything is a choice. Whatever you choose, it will have results either today or a year from now.  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Jenni Herchenbach from Omaha, NE. As you learn how to lower your toxic load through small changes, smart swaps, and simple solutions, you’ll breathe a (clean) sigh of relief and embrace your own personal evolution toward becoming clean(ish). Go to https://www.ginstephens.com/cleanish.html for more information. The book will be released on 1/4/22, but you can preorder now through Amazon or your favorite online book retailer. Preordering is really important, as it gives the publisher an idea of how many books to print.Jenni is a “happily unemployed” occupational therapist and grandmother. Jenni read Delay, Don't Deny in one day, and immediately became a faster. IF came into her life while on a new path to liking herself: "I spent way too many years not liking myself," she shares. Jenni feels that IF would not have worked for her had she not done work on her heart first. Jenni began with a 16:8 protocol, and eventually found that 21:3 was her ‘sweet spot’ for weight loss. At her highest weight, Jenni was 197 pounds. After more than a year of IF, she discovered her 'happy weight' is between 148 to 158 pounds. She has stopped tracking her fasts and weighing and is now just happily living the IF lifestyle. Jenni's advice: "Nail the clean fast. Settle in. IF is not quick weight loss. Ditch the scale, but instead find a dress or pants to be your guide. Take lots of photos, and have someone point out the changes they see you in you!" Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. IF felt immediately different than anything she had tried before, and she knew she'd never return to diets again. By the following July of 2020, Jan had lost 46 pounds, going from 215 to 169, and she feels so good!Jan has experienced amazing health benefits: decreased inflammation, improved skin, and relief from her Fibromyalgia. Her chronic fatigue has disappeared, and she now has sustained energy. She remarks, "Where would I be if I had not found IF?" IF has also helped her to manage stress, and she feels accomplished living the IF lifestyle.  Jan's advice to new IFers: "Just do it! Just try it! Fast clean, and see how long you can fast each day; it can only benefit you!" Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Amanda Bloomfield from Monument, CO.Gin’s new book Clean(ish) is available for preorder! Preordering is really important, as it gives the publisher an idea of how many books to print. Amanda is an operations manager for a real estate office. She shares that she never had a weight problem growing up, but after having four children, she could never lose the weight she would gain with each pregnancy. She and her sisters would try various diet programs together. Amanda was either on a diet, or off a diet; there was no in-between. She became a pro at tracking macros, calories, and weighing food. In March of 2019, one of her sisters mentioned IF, but Amanda dismissed it. Then after a family vacation, and seeing the scale go up yet again, Amanda decided to give IF a try. She knew it was time to do something about her weight. On a food blog she follows, many people were talking about Delay, Don't Deny and the Intermittent Fasting Stories Podcast, along with the DDD Facebook group. She quickly read the book, then listened to many of the success stories. This gave her hope and motivation!Amanda has gone from 210 pounds to between 145-150 pounds. Her goal is 135 pounds. She has experienced some wonderful health benefits: her plantar fasciitis disappeared, her headaches and migraines have greatly decreased, and her cholesterol numbers have come down. Amanda's advice is to read Fast Feast Repeat, and listen to the IF Stories Podcast. Stick with it and be consistent. Give yourself a goal.  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. By the end of nursing school in 2009, her weight climbed to 230 pounds. It was then that she hired a trainer, followed a diet, and managed to lose 30 pounds. But over the years, she gradually gained the weight back. In November of 2019, a friend posted about her IF journey, sharing that she was an upcoming IF Stories podcast guest (Episode 55). This inspired Jeni to try IF, and she began that day! She currently prefers a 20:4 protocol, and has gone from a size 16/18 to a size 6/8. Jeni's health has improved. Her blood pressure is lower, all of her labs are better, her fasting insulin is now 4.9, and she no longer needs GERD medication. Jeni's doctors are thrilled with her progress, and completely support her IF lifestyle.  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at dddsocialnetwork.com.  Joanna learned of intermittent fasting from a podcast in 2015. The way it was described, Joanna got the idea that IF was only for men, something that was medical, it took too much discipline, and was for only people who didn't like food. "I decided IF was not for me," and she carried on with life. During the pandemic that began in March of 2020, Joanna found she was putting on weight. Knowing she had to do something, she recalled IF and did some new research. She came across Delay, Don't Deny, Fast Feast Repeat, and The Obesity Code, and read all three. In July of 2020, Joanna began with 20:4, and she has never looked back. Her husband also joined her with IF. He had struggled with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for many years, trying several things to manage it. But within three days of IF, his IBS was gone! Joanna has lost roughly 17 pounds, going from 170 to 153. She has loads of energy and feels great! IF is simply a part of her life now.  The advice Joanna would give new IFers: Have patience! It may take a couple months to figure it all out. You may find Joanna Penn at: TheCreativePenn.com and The Creative Penn Podcast Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Elizabeth decided to follow in her mom’s footsteps, beginning in 7th grade. In January of 2020, a close friend shared IF with her, and Elizabeth began with 16:8. She was feeling great and losing weight until the pandemic hit in March.  By the end of April, she had gained back everything she lost. Knowing IF was her lifestyle, and committed to getting back to feeling great, Elizabeth gradually shortened her window and moved to a one meal a day approach. To date, Elizabeth has lost 20 pounds, going from 185 to 165. Instead of a goal weight, she has decided: "to like what I see in pictures." She knows that her body will settle on the right weight, so she is trusting the process. For Elizabeth, IF is a peaceful way to live. The advice Elizabeth would give new IFers: Take it day by day. IF is like a muscle--the more you do it, the better you become! Take pictures and measurements to track progress. I’ve obviously just begun listening- already in love with this podcast. I’ve listened to two others on “i f” so far and this is my favorite ❤️. So thank you!!!! I’ve been doing “I f” for one month and cannot believe the difference in my energy! I’m 53 and only have about 25 pounds to lose but I’m only 4’11” so that looks like more weight on me( at least in my opinion) 😁. I feel better, my face isn’t as puffy- I’m amazed and want to tell everyone to try it and am very sad when they don’t want to listen🥺

I just listened to this episode and I want to thank Gin and Dana, as a 50ish, menopausal woman in recovery I found this very helpful! Off to Kindle to look for Dana's books. 🙂
