Righteousness, peace, and joy are our inheritance in Christ, and while some might say we don't need inner healing, we "just need to believe the gospel." While that pithy little statement is grounded in a correct assessment that faith radically transforms, it neglects the reality that coming into alignment with that faith will involve bringing the heart along for a journey of healing and renewing the mind, liberating it from strongholds. We don't always believe what we know, or even know what we believe. Inner healing prayer is not victory apart from or instead of believing the gospel. Rather, inner healing is the application of the gospel to the lies and wounds that are keeping us bound so that we DO truly believe.
Last week Adam Bower demonstrated and taught a fantastic "one step prayer method" (can take 10 seconds) --> ask if they have pain and command it, "be healed in Jesus' name." This method is perfect for out and about on the streets or when the issues are merely physical. By the way - testimony here - God touched the girl Adam prayed over powerfully! This week she shared that for the first time in her entire 32 years she has no pain in her ankles, which was debilitating since infancy. PRAISE GOD!!!  Wimber/Randy Clark's 5 step prayer method (can take an hour) --> Interview, prayer selection, listening, prayer time, post-prayer directions. Good if the issue is more than simply physical or if there are lifestyle or underlying issues that cause the issue to return... Tim's 3 Step Prayer thing - "Hey, can I pray for you? How can I pray for you? Do you mind if I put my hand on your shoulder?" That's not really a method as much as a simple way to get people praying politely... We spent most of the evening in a healing prayer session aimed at restoring the soul. What I've found is that God will often reveal a lie, which leads us back to a wound, and as we invite God into the painful memory, he brings anointing, comfort, and love and begins to build more trust with them. At that point people can exchange their pain for something else. After that we move into either repentance or forgiveness, depending on the wound...Finally we move into asking God what the truth is, replacing the original lie. I usually also allow others present to share encouraging pictures or things God revealed to them before we seal the whole thing in Jesus' name... The audio recording was short because the inner healing sessions are private. 😉
Adam Bower on Healing

Adam Bower on Healing

For this session we met in Aunt Mary's living room in Federalsburg and Adam told stories, read Scripture, and prayed over Kate (praise God!). God's will is seen in Jesus, there is a thief who came to steal, kill, and destroy, and Jesus has come to bring us LIFE. We have been given real kingdom responsibility (a badge and a gun - power and authority) and our involvement is far more significant than most of us realize.
1. Healing is in God’s nature (Ex 15:26) 2. The Messiah was to be recognized by healing (Is 53:3-6, Is 61:1-2, Luke 4:18-19, Luke 7:20-23) 3. Every Christian has been commissioned to heal (Matt 10:8, Mark 6:7, 12-13, Matt 28:19-20) 4. Redemption is about healing the whole person (Ps 103:2-3) 5. The covenant includes healing (Ex 34:10, Heb 2:3-4) 6. The atonement provides (not guarantees) healing (Is 53:4-5, Matt 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24, Acts 4:10) 7. The kingdom of God is clearly associated with healing in Jesus’ ministry (Luke 10:9, Luke 17:21) A few more points about healing ministry… 1. We aren’t the healers, Jesus is! Humbly direct praise for any good that happens to him (Acts 4:9-10) 2. The flow of healing power may increase or decrease in a time/place due to a number of factors (Luke 5:17, Acts 19:11-12, Mark 6:4-6) 3. Not everyone is immediately healed (2 Tim 4:20), so persevere! 4. The goal of the healing ministry is to exalt the name of Jesus (Acts 4:30)
This recording includes a few testimonies, and then Tim telling stories about how he came to the place where praying for wholeness seems as rational as picking up litter, paying your bills, and doing your laundry. It's just the right thing to do. This time for 12 weeks we'll be focusing on the subject of healing from the perspective of Jesus-followers. We are reading John Wimber's book, "Power Healing," together and setting a goal of praying for wholeness for two people per week, out loud and in their hearing.

The Abrahamic Covenant

In so many ways, the New Covenant is prefigured, revealed, and fulfills God's covenant with Abraham and Sarah.
In the world of the old testament there were three major types of covenant:  1.) kinship covenant 2.) suzerain-vassal 3.) grant Tammi explains these and we also got as far as the Noahic covenant...
Tammi teaches an introduction and overview of how many contemporary Christians understand the whole sweep of Scripture. This is an effort to give a bit of definition to the three major frameworks through which differing traditions are reading the bible: Dispensationalism, Covenant Theology, and New Covenant Theology. Some good time was also spend discussing the value of the concept of "progressive revelation" in our reading of the Bible. Our view, Better Covenant Theology, will be unpacked in upcoming classes...
Crossing over is about fully leaving behind our old life of slavery to sin and entering into the promised land of grace. Strongholds are the ways we are still bound because we still need the mop up operation of Jesus' truth setting us free. Switching scripts is about The Truth and The Lie that are in conflict, and how God is inviting us to trade stories with Jesus... Enjoy!
Tammi explains why the MBTI can be helpful in discovering your divine design and spends time explaining the four areas...
Frank and Tracey spoke about how our identity comes before our purpose or things get out of alignment, and our purpose is discovered as we first seek God's heart...

In these sessions led by Tammi Kauffman, we asked the Lord to reveal lies and false labels we were believing and instead replace them with truths and the right labels. Silences and private conversations were removed so the final result is only a half hour but we were there for two hours.
Bob shared his journey of heartache and hope, emphasizing the goodness of God all along the way. God is in charge, not control. That difference is important, lest his image and our responsibility end up distorted. Our authority is entirely derived from Jesus, who holds ALL the authority on earth, and ALL the authority in heaven, and instead of using it to "lord over people," Jesus uses his authority to liberate and serve people. We are drafted into partnership with Jesus use our delegated authority to give away the grace we've freely received.
Here Tim explores the implications of "original sin" for human nature, infants, the nature of salvation, atonement, and the normal Christian life. It really is true that if you misdiagnose the problem, you prescribe the wrong cure. Short version: Jesus is more than enough for what has gone wrong with humanity in Adam, and the gospel is super-hopeful!
When faith is equated to beliefs, then anything that threatens to change our mind becomes a threat, and uncertainty is viewed as a form of sin. Living in that fearful, defensive, and brittle posture is what I call, "Jenga Faith." Thankfully, I found out that isn't really what faith is about...
"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Luke 12:34)" Adam Bower taught us about this critical issue that is often misused or avoided...
