Websites that sell products need a secure connection because they are taking people's personal information like their name, address, phone number, email address, credit card information, etc. The consensus is that websites that collect sensitive information need to be secure, but what about websites that don't collect this information? Some people do not think they need to secure their website if they are not asking people to submit their personal information. In the 20th episode of the first season of the Marketing Myths Podcast, Tobaria and Aaron talk about why you may or may not need to secure your website with an SSL certificate.  Show notes: https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/ecommerce-websites-need-ssl-certificates/
There are a lot of question around the effectiveness of Facebook and LinkedIn advertising strategies. Are they worth the time and money? In the beginning of 2011, Google launched an update to its algorithm named Panda. The Panda update essentially rewarded unique & compelling content. Gary Illyes has said, "We don't recommend removing content for Panda." Then later he said, "It's not guaranteed that you will see any positive effect from that." referring to removing old or thin content from your website. Even John Mueller has said, “Improving it means that the rankings can only go up, whereas by removing it, can cause loss of rankings instead of the gains that some people think content removals will do.”  So, this seems pretty straightforward, right? Don't delete old or thin content. But is it that straightforward? In this episode of the Marketing Myths Podcast, Aaron & Tobaria visit an experiment done by Search Engine Journal and what other SEOs say about the subject.  Show notes:  https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/never-delete-content-website/
Have you heard that all email marketing is a scam? Some say that the money put into email marketing cannot be recuperated, and, as a digital marketing tactic, it is a waste of time and money. Take a listen!  Show notes:  https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/email-marketing-scam/

Every business owner and marketer is looking for their "golden ticket" to reach their customers. For some reason, we keep hearing that the demographics a business is trying to reach aren't on social. Tobaria and Aaron tackle this myth in today's episode of the Marketing Myths Podcast.  Show notes: https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/you-can-set-forget-ppc-campaigns/
Do Display Ads Work?

Do Display Ads Work?

2019-01-2420:121

In 2012, Google served almost 30 billion ad impressions per day! That is a TON of impressions. But, do these impressions matter? From a business standpoint do display ads work? There has been a lot of negative press about the effectiveness of display ads, so, in today's episode, Tobaria and Aaron address this myth and talk about what you can do to make your display ad campaigns successful.   Show notes: https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/display-ads-work/
If you have shopped online, odds are you have been a recipient of retargeting ads. This tactic is a favorite around retail businesses to show products you may have looked at on a website but didn't purchase. These ads are then meant to drive you back to the website to purchase the item. And they work! Well, they work for retail, but what about other businesses? Does retargeting work for B2B or service businesses? In this episode of the Marketing Myths Podcast, Tobaria and Aaron talk about how retargeting ads can be used outside of the retail world.  View the show notes here:  https://keymediasolutions.com/news/podcast/is-retargeting-only-for-retail-businesses/
According to Statista, 98% of 18 to 29-year-olds are online. And many retailers the Millennial and Gen-Z generations are the only groups who shop online. Some retailers have even gone to the extent of only advertising to their products and services to the younger generations. In today's episode, Tobaria and Aaron talk through this myth and crunch the numbers on who is shopping online. Show notes: http://marketingmythspodcast.com/which-generations-shop-online
It is estimated that Americans will spend $123.7 billion online this holiday shopping season. With Americans spending so much money in such a short period of time, the priority for retailers and service companies is getting as much of the $123.7 billion pie. As an incentive for consumers to buy their product over their competitors', many companies discount their products. Is discounting your products and services necessary to sell to holiday shoppers? Tobaria and Aaron debate this myth in today's episode of The Marketing Myths Podcast. Show notes: http://marketingmythspodcast.com/need-to-discount-over-holidays
