Kaelen Bell hosts the hour and chats with a member of the QPOC Winnipeg. They'll be discussing this past Monday's C2C Conference meeting, which provided recommendations on how to limit sexual/gender-based discrimination in Winnipeg. Aidan Cloet will be letting it all out during his rant about Facebook and its consistent missteps with user privacy. It was uncovered last Thursday that over 1/5th of ALL Facebook passwords were stored in plaintext...WTF Facebook! To top it off, apparently, all Facebook employees had access to it. Jonathan Wade might be wishing he was a kid again after learning about the Winnipeg International Children's Festival C.A.M.P. This is a program that provides at-risk youth with fun activities during the week of Spring Break where they can learn unique circus skills like stilt-walking, unicycling, and acrobatics. His feature story will include all the details! Christina Burridge will be live-on-location chasing turkeys... Yes, turkeys. Why you ask? Because she can, that's why. Apparently some wild turkeys have been spotted throughout Winnipeg now that the weather has warmed up and it's mating season.  Kayla Buehler will have the latest gossip and hopefully put to bed a rumour that the popular TV show Schitt's Creek will be ending soon. The show has some incredible Canadian voices behind it, but apparently, that doesn't matter, along with how tons of people are enjoying the show, producers might still pull the plug on it.Yes I know this isn't a photo of Schitt's Creek, but there wasn't one that isn't copyrighted. 

This week on the Mid-day Memo, we'll be hearing about a ton of cool stuff, from sexy and exciting parking projects to the life-changing gays over at Netflix's Queer Eye! We'll also hear from our live-on-location reporter Kayla Buehler about the Winnipeg Humane Society's 1001 Donations Telethon. The telethon runs this Saturday from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m., and it's your chance to donate some cash in support of our neglected furry friends.  Manitoba is home to many an animal lover, with approximately one dog for every 13 people in Winnipeg. That's a lot of dogs! But unfortunately, Manitoba's also home to some big major jerks, or at least some irresponsible semi-jerks. Stories like that of Gracie, Anastasia, and Chino (all available to watch on the Humane Society website) remind us that not everyone is looking out for the little (and sometimes big and slobbery) guy. This Saturday's telethon is a chance to show some love for those animals who never got enough! The telethon will be broadcast live from the Humane Society by some of our very own Cre-Comm students, who'll be introducing viewers to their future best friends and asking for donations. The goal this year is $60,000 - and those adorable little monsters are asking for your help! Last week we had a little break from the show, but rest assured our latest Mid-day Memo is jam-packed! This week’s Live of Location reporter Adian Cloet will be sitting in at Winnipeg’s newest taproom, Sookram’s Brewing Company. The brewery offers modern craft beer in a more family-friendly environment. If you are a big craft beer drinker, listen to hear Adian talk about what this brewery has to offer. Our feature reporter this week, Caitlyn Gowriluk, attended a harm reduction and naloxone administration workshop put on by U of M Nursing Students’ Association in partnership with Project Safe Audience. The workshop was meant to discuss the importance of harm reduction and how to properly administer naloxone. Caitlyn will share with us what happened during the event and why this is an important issue to be talked about. Graeme Houssin’s T&T report will discuss how Atlantic Canadian patients are selling homes and liquidating savings for life-saving transplant surgeries in Toronto.  The episode will be hosted by Cassidy Dankochik who will be entertaining us throughout the hour. He will be joined by Hannah Owczar telling us all about the news and weather.

The Mid-day Memo is back this week from a brief hiatus and the team is refreshed and prepping for a jam-packed show! An iconic Winnipeg theatre has secured new ownership this week. The Pantages Playhouse Theatre in the Exchange District has been up for sale since the summer. The city sent out a call for proposals in June. On Monday, the city said it’s poised to sell the theatre to potential buyers Alex Boersma and Lars Nicholson. The city said the theatre will continue to operate as a performing-arts centre in the 530K deal.  The Pantages Playhouse Theatre is a historical site in Winnipeg, originally build between 1913 and 1914. The building was particularly lavish for its time: brass torches, plush seating and monogram embossed in gold on the curtain. The venue has since been restored and maintained to protect its heritage. Reporter Kayla Buehler has more on this story during the show.  Pride Winnipeg is going back to its roots this year. The annual Pride Parade route was moved to York Avenue last year from Portage Avenue by the city. Many opposed this change and felt that the parade was being relegated to a side street.  During last year’s parade, a group of nearly 40 queer and two-spirit marchers continued down the original route despite the change.  Pride Winnipeg announced this week that the march is back on Portage Avenue for the 32nd Annual Parade in June.  Graeme Houssin will be ranting in favour of the original route later in the show.  Catch this and much more on Friday’s show starting at noon. Feature reporter Kelsey Marcotte brings us a story on treaties in Manitoba, talking to Indigenous elder Harry Bone about the spirit and intent of the historic agreements, and how they still impact us today. The it’s Jonathan Wade, who has a rant about the big business behind the consumer-centric day of romance – Valentine’s Day.  Later in the show, Christina Burridge provides some commentary one of this week’s most talked-about political issues, and Sydney Small brings you some pre-Oscars coverage. And of course, all our regular features: news, sports, entertainment and more!

In the lastest edition of the Mid-day Memo, we talk about Niigaan Sinclair's recent segment on CBC Radio where he spoke to Rosanna Deerchild about integrating indigenous content into Canada's education system. We also have Jeremy Morantz reporting live from one of Ciao Magazine's Dine About Winnipeg special culinary events.  Host Graeme Houssin sits down with Ezi Raizen to chat about Slunt Factory, a drag group that Raizen started with some other friends. On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre on the Air performed H.G. Wells' sci-fi classic War of the Worlds live on CBS Radio. The broadcast changed media history as people tuning in mid-program heard realistic-sounding news reports "live" from a spaceship crash site, and continued listening as the apparent martian invasion continued over the next hour. The station was flooded with calls from terrified listeners who were convinced that the broadcast was real.
