This was recorded as a one-shot game to teach Dungeon World and the Powered by the Apocalypse system to one of my more D&D-inclined players, and also as a prologue to a game we'll be playing later.
As a fair warning, towards the end we say we're done and start going into post-game chat, but then we intermittently go back into roleplay, so stick around or skip ahead if you want to hear that.
Jill (Aerin) makes a friend. Kyle (Andrew) avoids conflict. Seishin (Rebekah) reveals herself.
Seishin's (Rebekah) phone keeps butt-dialing people. Kyle (Andrew) goes to make a deal without any leverage. Jill (Aerin) takes one for the team.
Seishin (Rebekah) terrifies a homeless man. Jill (Aerin) experiences a microaggression. Kyle (Andrew) eats a bagel.
Our audio got all jankified, so now the story's clarified.
Seishin (Rebekah) gets a menacing text. Jill (Aerin) takes some heavy blows. Kyle (Andrew) totally knows how to drive a boat.
Rebekah, Aerin, and Andrew all make their characters for the series!
Apologies for all the technical-, human-, and comedy-of-errors that occurred during this episode. Next week's episode we are attempting to record our own audio on Audacity and hopefully have no further issues.
This is the last episode of the Quiet Year! Next episode is having some technical difficulties, so hopefully next week you'll get to hear at least most of a character creation session for Urban Shadows.
Jonah, Rebekah, Aerin, Michael, and (introducing) Andrew begin to address some of the tensions arising in Fontaine, Louisiana between various communities and organizations.
Jonah, Rebekah, Aerin, and Michael begin weaving the history of the city of Fontaine, Louisiana by playing a map-drawing game called the Quiet Year, in preparation to play Urban Shadows in the same setting. Vampires and werewolves carve out portions of the city for themselves, wizards set up new corporate foundations, people tainted with demonic blood assist those who must now steal to survive. And this is all in the less-exciting time in the city's history.
Aand aanother aasimar.
A manticore! Hippogriff riding! Solemn RP! It's all in there!
Everyone tries to connect with someone else. Or something else.
Shit gets real in the party.
The party, mid mission, decides to just fuck off and go looking for a tower.
The nightmares are getting worse...
Hey guys, Jonah writing this. Just wanted you to know the sitch, Urban Shadows is on indefinite hiatus due to conflicts with schedules and the fact that I have recently moved to a new apartment where conditions make it difficult to find time to record, especially not in very good quality. So right now, I'm gonna start trying to put up episodes of Princes of the Apocalypse in the hopes that eventually we'll get to the episodes I never released on Youtube. Hopefully by then, either some new project will have occurred to us, or we'll be able to continue Urban Shadows.
Dramatic action strikes the mystery gang! The most dramatic drama ever to drama, really. And best of all- someone dies!
Soulange, Cole, Adolfo, and Trey learn about some creepy old dudes dressing up in black cloaks and meeting at night. Sounds like we've got a mystery on our hands!
The gang investigates a haunted tomb!
