Hello dear friends. Welcome to a Conscious Community. My name is Lauren Bentley and today, I want to share with you how to move from a closed heart to an open heart.  Living with an open heart is something that is spoken about so much from yoga class to meditation to prayer but it is easy to talk about but how do we actually do it?  Within this episode, I will lead you through an explorative journey so that you can feel into how you experience a closed heart and how you experience an open heart. You will be able to see how you actually make yourself suffer when closing the heart which will most likely make you desire to live with a more opened heart space.  My name is Lauren Bentley and I am here to act as a guide to lead you safely into your body to create home within. Welcome to a beautiful interview with my lovely friend, Ashley Waite.  Ashley is currently in the midst of creating the worlds first on demand mobile application for grief support through the Grief Wellness Group.  Ashley wanted to create a grief support system that meets individuals exactly where they are- their own home- and provide a base of support to meet each individuals needs.  She is aware that when we are in the deep trenches of grief, it often feels difficult to get out of bed to brush our teeth let alone, eat a healthy meal.  She is creating a beautiful space that will support every grieving person exactly where they are from support in taking a shower, to yoga, to nutrition. Let's think about someone in our life, or maybe even you, who you would say qualifies as a very independent person.  This person may show that they hardly ask for help and prefer to do things on their own. This person may also prefer to live a more solo led lifestyle. You may even label this person as strong and resilient. As much as that is true, this is also often a trauma response from something that happened earlier in our lives.    For me, my first memory of feeling it is safer to just do things on my own was when I was about 5 years old and my dad wanted to teach me how to ride a two-wheel bike. Because I was learning, I fell a lot. I scraped myself up, it hurt and I became scared and frustrated. My dad, not knowing how to comfort me, became angry. The next time he left for work, I took matters into my own hands and taught myself how to ride a bike.    From this very young age, I learned how to comfort and support myself and grew a deep belief that it would be better for me to do things on my own.   However, this doesn't normally lead to quality relationships and life. I struggled in work if it had anything do with a team. I pushed people out of my life and my relationships struggled.   All until I learned how to heal those independent parts of me and let my younger self know that it is ok to ask for support, to struggle, to fail and to be seen doing it all.   In this Vlog, I talk more in depth about my story and lead you through an integration practice to begin to speak the needs to your younger self so that you may begin to open yourself to more supportive relationships. My name is Lauren Bentley and I am here to act as a guide to lead you safely into your body to create home within.   I am a Trauma Informed Mindfulness Teacher, 300 Hour Yoga Teacher, and Somatic Practitioner. You are capabale Interview with Meg Hammond Welcome friends to a special  interview with my friend, Meg Hammond.  Meg is a blogger for Wheel Life Blog and a life coach where she helps women live in confidence after a spinal cord injury.  Meg experienced an accident at only 23 years old that injured her spine labeled a T4 complete injury, meaning she does not have any function or feeling below her injury level (upper waist/chest area). Since her injury, she has lived 100% independently, worked full time (two different careers), and is a chapter leader for the United Spinal Association Northeast Ohio Chapter. Life is fulfilling, even after a spinal cord injury if you make it fulfilling. She kayaks, bike rides using a handcycle, and has meaningful relationships in her life. Her life has meaning and it has a purpose - every life has that. This is an incredibly inspiring episode of being capable of anything no matter what the circumstance. Gratitude and a desire to thrive are key ingredients! Meditation and Trauma

Greetings Listeners! We spent several weeks in the topic of grief and now we are flowing into some topics around anxiety support and shadow season. But before diving in, I thought it would be very beneficial to speak about meditation for trauma survivors as meditation may not be the space where you feel all those elevated vibrations.  This episode is great for you if you are a trauma survivor, if you know a trauma survivor or if you are a teacher  or therapist who invites their clients/students inward.  Breathe and Receive membership: https://goodvibetribe.teachable.com/p/worthiness-series Website: https://www.gvhealthandwellness.net/ Discovery call: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16951611 Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1518194398279348/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cc_laurenb/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lauren222/message
Grief Embodied

Grief Embodied

2020-11-1817:04

We have really been going deep into the topic of grief this month, Fam! I am so proud of you for showing up and doing this work.  Today is a very special episode as it is a lesson straight out of Breathe and Receive Membership. A Grief Embodied practice. Let your body tell the story Too often we don't express how we feel because it feels too difficult to do so cognitively. Often the emotion is too heavy, too deep, too confusing. But, when we let our body tell the story, we allow the emotion to be the energy in motion it has always been meant to be, We can more easily express through sound and movement.  To dive into more practices like this- Breathe and Receive membership: https://goodvibetribe.teachable.com/p/worthiness-series Discovery call: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16951611&appointmentType=8667267 Website: https://www.gvhealthandwellness.net/ Single session deep dive: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16951611&appointmentType=16152789 Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cc_laurenb/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lauren222/message
Breath and Grief

Breath and Grief

2020-11-1126:38

As many of you know, breathwork has been one of the most profound modalities I have come across to date. Breath awareness can help us move from a fight/flight/freeze response to a rest and relax state of being. Our breath can help us to begin to calm our nervous system and find healing from the inside out. Our lungs are also the space within the body that holds the emotions of grief, sorrow, sadness and hopelessness. If you listened to last weeks episode and know that you have these emotions within you that feel stuck, it may take some time to really begin to move them around. Your breath can be an amazing place to start.  Today's episode will teach you about the 2 parts of the nervous system and how the breath acts as a natural and free healer of the often overtaxed nervous system. We will then end in a simple breath meditation.  To join the Breathe and Receive membership: https://goodvibetribe.teachable.com/p/worthiness-series Schedule a free discovery call: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16951611&appointmentType=8667267 Schedule a 90 minute deep dive therapy session: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16951611&appointmentType=16152789 Visit website: https://www.gvhealthandwellness.net/ Find me on Instagram: https://www.gvhealthandwellness.net/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lauren222/message
Grief Support

Grief Support

2020-11-0422:03

Welcome November! I hope you had a wonderfully magical October and I know we had fun celebrating with our Witchy Women interviews throughout the month. All the women I had the pleasure of interviewing were so inspiring, deeply belonging to themselves which is difficult to place words on. As we now step into November, we begin to step into the beginning of the holiday season- at least we are here in the states. When I think about the holiday season, the first emotion I think of that we feel collectively is grief. I find grief to be such a beautiful emotion. An emotion that once it is bestowed upon us is here for our lifetime. Once we allow ourselves to fully move through grief at our own pace, we are able to live simultaneously in joy and in grief. We find that they co-exist wonderfully together. A thought that many of us have never been taught. Far too often we are taught to fear grief, push vulnerability aside and be strong, move on. But the truth is, grief will be an emotion that exists within us no matter what. It is energy in motion and it needs to be loved and space held for. Today's episode will take you through the 5 stages of grief mixed with my own personal experiences with it plus a lovely practice at the end to feel into the repressed emotions.
