Meet my Canadian Instagram twin! I found Dawn randomly on Instagram, she's a hairstylist too. Then we started realizing how much we were alike. We have so much in common its spooky. Dawn is a hairstylist, salon owner, educator and the host of one of my favorite podcasts, The Anxious Creative. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-anxious-creative/id1341378904?mt=2 In this episode we talk about being a hairstylist, and we talk about Dawn's time working for Aveda in the beginning of her career. We talk about client connection and how for each of us thats an enormous part of the career. We talk about how crucial communication is and therefore how important the consultation is. We talk about being ok with failing and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. It's a seriously jam packed episode with so much good stuff. We dive into Instagram, we talk about how it helped Dawn in her career and my hang ups with it. I ask Dawn for advice and confess my insecurities. I literally left recording this feeling so inspired and I know you will too. Hairstylist or not. Follow Dawn on IG @dawnbradleyhair and subscribe to her podcast! I am all about doing everything I can to be my best (and most well) self. A key part of wellness for me are my monthly visits to my chiropractor, Dr. Craig Fishel! As a hairstylist, runner, and New Yorker I really put my body through it. I am so glad I found Dr Fishel to help keep my body in check. I leave his office every time feeling inspired and physically and mentally realigned. In this episode, get to know Dr. Fishel, and learn a bit about chiropractic. He answers some common questions and we talk about the benefits. Stick around to the end to hear what's inspiring doc right now. Im excited for you to meet Dr. Fishel! You're gonna love him. New Yorkers, you can find him at The Wellness Center of NY. 212-980-5444 136 East 57th St. #105 New York, NY IG: @wellnesscenterny thewellnesscenterofny.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shirley-hagel/support

Episode 6 MEET HAGEL

Episode 6 MEET HAGEL

2018-11-2658:16

Full disclosure this was the second thing I ever recorded. MEET HAGEL! if you know me at all, you know how much I love this dude. And if you know him, I’m certain you love him too. He’s smart, he’s funny, he makes a hella good pizza, and he’s the most meticulous and patient person I know. You want him on your trivia team, he should definitely be your phone-a-friend if your doing any kind of word puzzle, and you DEFINITELY want him making you food (and plating said food - the man can build a fucking taco). In this episode you’ll learn some fun facts about Hagel...like what his favorite, bad movie is, how he almost died when he was 8, what tv show he’d pick if he could only watch one forever, and what drinking game we played after we got engaged, plus a whole lot more. hell, you should turn listening into a drinking game, drink every time I interrupt Hagel! 🙈😂 he loves me anyways, you guys. Remember I said he’s the most patient person on the planet...oh, yeah! You also learn what his FIRST name is! (if you don’t know yet) OK...ENJOY! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/shirley-hagel/support

The marathon is officially less than one week away. In this episode (thats really just a pep talk for myself) I talk about how I got in my head towards the end of my training and I talk about why I run in the first place. If you are a hairstylist or a runner I feel like you may be able to relate to some of this. Ps I call myself Shirley a few times, Im sorry for that. ALSO I left out a very important reason why I run, FOOD. I love to eat, I love food, and the more I run, the more I can eat. haha Ok, enjoy this episode. You can find me on instagram, @shirleyhagel. Come tell me what you do that's just for you and runners come give me your favorite race day mantra. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/shirley-hagel/support
