Every relationship stands on it's own, no matter if the initial connection is one of biology. It still requires attention and nurturing by both people to flourish.
Tragic story today about a pedestrian killed on the Macomb Orchard Trail after he was hit by a cyclist. As a cyclist for many years, including on that trail, I have seen many examples of high risk behavior by cyclists, and need to admit to taking those risks myself. The price of harming another person is never worth it. Cyclists are the first to complain when drivers don't respect our rights on the road, yet we often justify ignoring the rules of the road ourselves.
Looking more closely at each individual helps you see similarities and helps you distinguish them as uniquely designed. Try it and see what happens! Also try thinking the words "How are you doing?" the next time you wave at someone - it opens up your body, face and smile!
Socializing with new people can be as easy as taking time to have a back-and-forth conversation about the activity you are both taking part in. You never know when a friendship will be born!
If you want something to be different in your life, get very clear on what you want the outcome to look like. Then decide how badly you want that outcome. Because if you really want it, you'll create and follow the fool-proof steps necessary for insuring the outcome. If that seems too much or too restrictive to you, be ok that it isn't something that you really want. Or wake up to the realization that unless you change your actions, your outcome will stay the same.
As you connect with your inner child, you may find that there is more than one. Each one is at a different age and stage of emotional development, with a variety of needs. So be aware of that as you work to improve communicating with those parts of yourself.
