Three Thoughts

Exodus 1:1-22 This sermon looks at the situation of Israel at the beginning of Exodus asking if God had forgotten his people as Pharaoh had forgotten Joseph.

In this sermon we cover material from the following passaged: Romans 3:21-26 Genesis 6:11-13 Psalm 5:4-8 Joshua 7:2-13 Matthew 4:1-11 Job 4:7 There are also a few questions answered as we moved through the text.

This is the first lesson based on the weekly readings for Through the Bible in 2020. In it, I discuss the nature of sin, the problem of evil, and the sovereignty of God. In it, we read passages from Psalm 2, Genesis 3, Romans 1, and Job 1 and 2. I hope this discussion encourages you as we continue reading through the Bible.

Exodus 4:18-31 In this sermon the doubt of Moses is contrasted against the faithfulness of God and applied to the Christian responsibility to proclaim the gospel. I also give my sisters who were visiting  hard time.

Exodus 4:1-17 In this sermon, the wonders given to Moses to prove God sent him are used to describe the power of Christ. Due to a recording error the initial illustration comparing Jocko Willink to Moses is missing. The gist is that Moses is not the kind of leader any reasonable person would follow. Only through God's influence would anyone listen him and he knew it.

Exodus 3:13-22 In this sermon the name of the Lord given to Moses is used to better understand the relationship between God and man. God's transcendence and imminence are discussed as well as what those concepts mean for us. Enjoy.

Exodus 2:11-25 - In this sermon we see that Moses' life didn't go as he expected. God, however, was not surprised. This message teaches the theological concept compatibilism without using the nerd speak.

In this sermon Exodus 2:1-10 is used to explain how hope functions in the life of the believer.

This sermon is based on Job 16:18-22. It explains our need for an advocate before a holy God and that God himself is our advocate. It also has an excellent Bible story about a time when the ark of the covenant was captured and recovered by Israel.

This sermon looks at Genesis 3:8-19. It identifies Jesus as the offspring of Eve who will bruise the head of the Serpent. The purpose of the message is to understand Jesus as the great victor over Satan and the hope of all mankind.
