This special episode is a reading of the introduction to my book, Becoming Spiritual.
This episode is based on The Seat of The Soul, by Gary Zukav and is about evolution and power, and how aligning our personality and our soul is the path to authentic power.
This is Day 8 of Being at Peace with Being at Home. We've spent 7 days talking about managing ourselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Are you ready to go deeper? Next we're diving into some awesome books. Today we're discussing ideas from The Soul's Code by James Hillman. This episode is a little longer. I read part of his introduction and discuss his acorn theory for personhood, and how Plato's myth about the soul can help us change the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and our children. Today's practical exercise is to relax with your kids and create an emotional environment in your home where they can be themselves and enjoy the extra space to feel into their uniqueness. Watch them with an open mind and heart. Use this time to see them with fresh eyes. Pray for insights into the innate imprint and divine calling in them, and look for ways to cultivate it.
This is Day 7 of Being at Peace with Being at Home. In this episode we're talking about practically applying the principle of Acceptance. What does it look like to stop resisting life, and accept what is happening as if we chose it, as Eckhart Tolle would say? This may be intimidating in such a time as we are living for, but it is an incredibly rewarding when you begin to practice it.
How are you doing? How is everyone holding up? I'm finding myself intensely fascinated by watching how everyone is reacting to having their lives shaken up. Gary Vaynerchuk likes to say that social media isn't changing us, it's just exposing us, showing who we truly are. I think the same is true of this virus. My journey has brought me to the place where I truly believe life is not so much about what we have or what we do, but who we choose to be every moment of the day, in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. Right now I think the two most important tasks set before us in this time are to face ourselves internally, and to show compassion externally to those whom we can help. Pray for the nurses, doctors and medical workers on the front line of this crisis, many dealing with increasingly difficult circumstances. Pray for those who have lost loved ones. Pray for those who have to go to the hospital for any reason and are unable to be visited by friends and family. Pray for insight and wisdom for our leaders. Donate to charities. Offer to help anyone you know who is elderly or at increased risk if exposed. Send a note to friends you haven't talked to in awhile. Check in with your parents. When you're not reaching out, reach in. Take time to journal, to read, to meditate, to sit in stillness with yourself. You are having the experience you are having for a reason. If you find yourself with extra time in your day, day after day, this is a divine invitation to reconnect with yourself. Let go of the addiction to business, to events, to a packed schedule. Allow yourself to detox, to relax. Give yourself permission to do nothing for a while.  This is Day 6 of this mini series, and another one of my favorite topics. Let's talk about recognizing and releasing our resistance, and learning to practice acceptance. This concept completely changed my life. I hope it helps you during this time of disruption and uncertainty.
This is Day 5 of this mini series, and in this episode we're going to talk about one of my favorite topics: Cultivating Joy and Creativity.
In this episode we go back to the basics, and talk about replacing fear with love. Our discussion will include practical tips for working on your mindset in your day to day life.
This is Day 3 of my series, Being at Peace with Being at Home. We've talked about increasing our awareness of the two selves that exist in our consciousness. And we talked yesterday about managing our thoughts, and considering the stories that we tell ourselves. Today let's talk about managing our emotions. For those of us who are merely cooped up at home, it's easy to feel guilty that we're healthy, or feel guilty that we're not doing more in some way. Let's talk about how to let go of the guilt, and free ourselves to do what we are meant to do in this time.
Welcome to Day 2 of this mini series. Let's talk about the stories we tell ourselves, and what it looks like to actively manage our thoughts.
Welcome to Day 1 of Being at Peace with Being at Home.  We're going to start by diving into principles that are really about being at peace with yourself. I believe there is a spiritual opportunity in the midst of this crisis, for those who are waiting it out at home, to begin to face ourselves.  The challenge and action step for today is to practice being aware of the two voices and two 'selves' inside your self.  I have heard it called the ego and the soul, the outer self and the inner self, you could see a parallel in the sinful or human nature and the holy spirit.  We are being called to our next level of potential, and the first step of such an awakening is to awaken to the truth that we are not our thoughts, or our fears. We are the watcher of our thoughts, and we are love.
This crisis, the coronavirus epidemic, is exposing our lack of a spiritual foundation. By shaking us up, it's also giving us the opportunity to reassess the stories that we tell ourselves about the most basic questions of our existence. In this episode I share seven spiritual truths that could help us weather this incredible season of crisis.
