In an episode of the dialogue session, Executive Director of A Living Letter, Drew Berryessa and podcast co-host Mark Kroeker, discuss Drews op-ed with the Christian Post. We talk through the pushback that Drew has received and do our best to relate to the various perspectives that are being shared. Take a listen and check out the ministry at alivingletter.org where our mission our mission is to build up the Church to understand and respond to the issues of sexual brokenness from a fully biblical foundation, equally rooted in truth and love.
In this episode, we DIALOGUE with Drew about two major events that A Living Letter was a part of in protecting the rights of those who struggle with sexual brokenness within the church. Let's discuss what laws that are in motion and how we together can link arms to stand for the Church. Singleness & Sexuality

Singleness & Sexuality

2023-08-0201:23:38

In this episode, seasoned Christian and pastor Kim Butcher joins us to dialogue about the impact of singleness in her life. Often in Church, marriage is made to be the end goal, leading many to feel incomplete and lonely. Singleness can amplify self-pity and victimhood, but Kim reminds us that our worth and fulfillment is not determined by our relationship status but by the depth of our intimacy with Christ and through vibrant Christian fellowship. Through her rich experience and deep biblical understanding, Kim guides us to a refreshing perspective on singleness, illuminating how it can be a time of incredible growth, purpose, satisfaction in our sexuality, and closeness to God.  Whether you are married, single, struggling with your sexuality/identity, or a layperson/leader within the Church, this episode will absolutely resonate with every Believer. You will gain practical insights on how to best create a culture within the Church where every individual experiences authentic community and love in which to flourish in their walk with the Lord.
In this enlightening episode, we address the complex reality for those individuals that go back on their commitment to Jesus to embrace a gay/transgender identity. We unpack the factors contributing to this decision and how the Church should respond. Many themes play out in a lot of these stories. Let's explore these themes and address people's skepticism toward our ministry and message. Not only do we discuss the obstacles within the Church that may promote relapse, but we learn about anxious attachment styles and how it relates to our identity and intimacy with Christ. Throughout the episode, Drew emphasizes the ongoing role of transformation in the lives of believers. He acknowledges that the process of following Jesus is not always linear, and individuals may experience setbacks or periods of wavering commitment. However, he reminds listeners that transformation is a lifelong journey, and the Church should strive to provide a nurturing environment that encourages growth, grace, and forgiveness. Can Boycotts Be Biblical?

Can Boycotts Be Biblical?

2023-06-2801:27:08

We are in a cultural moment. This Pride month is full of boycotts, and the cancel culture is in full force. How should we engage in this as Believers? Should we be involved in boycotts, and if so, how do we do it without tarnishing our witness? Drew shares his pastoral and practical perspective on what happens when we prioritize our own sense of righteousness over the well-being and dignity of others. Someone bravely and honestly submitted a question to us: I am is much happier now that I have left Christian Fundamentalism and am pursuing the gay lifestyle. When I am living the gay lifestyle I feel fulfilled and at peace. I’ve tried praying away the gay and lived in repression for so long. Why should I pursue a lifestyle with Christian values that doesn’t allow me to be gay? Drew is tackling this question in three parts. For this final episode, we will address this part of the question: Why should I pursue a lifestyle with Christian values that doesn’t allow me to be gay? Let's discuss this complex question together. Hospitality has been a key instrument in bringing healing for Drew & Cynthia in their journey toward relational and sexual wholeness. Join the dialogue to hear the details of what that looked like for them. Together, we can continue to engage hearts by opening our homes and welcoming all into our faith communities.
