Description

This is the podcast where I share my mind, my life and all the craziness of being a guy who wears a kilt pretty much daily. My wife and I have one of the largest kilt groups on Facebook and we have a lot of fun. I thought it would be cool to start a podcast and delve more into the Celtic culture and meet some of the men and women who are involved in the kilted community. KILT ON!!

I thought that I would do something special and share some of my favorite Christmas music with everyone. Cynthia and I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Sláinte mhaith and KILT ON!
In this episode I interview Gaitero Del Trueno from Chile who is the Wizard of Wizard and The Blacksmith a Celtic band from Chile. This was a lot of fun and it was really interesting to hear about Gaitero's Celtic point of view and what is taking place Celtic wise down in Chile. There music has a very Irish sound to it with the mix of Irish whistle, and banjo along with bagpipes too.  What was really amazing was here you are listening to Irish Celtic music, but you can hear a definite Latin influence in the music.  If you liked this show's format and your liked the music, please let me know. If you know some bands or you are in a band yourself, contact me and let's see what we can do to get you on the show. in this episode we interview Kevin Michael Offord. He has played with Celtic Kitchen Party, in fact let's hear from Kevin's own words... I was born and raised in Kingston Ontario Canada, My fathers family came from England, but lived in Gananoque Ontario for many years. My mother was born in Glasgow Scotland, and her family came to Canada in the late 1950's. I grew up in a loving family with lots of music in the house. From classical, to Scottish Traditional (Bagpipes), The Irish Rovers, Alexander Brothers, Andy Stewart, Anne Murray and Roger Whittaker to name a few :) Being born in the 70's I really began to find my own music passions in the 80's listening to Canadian Bands like Glass Tiger, Colin James, Bryan Adams, Corey Hart, Luba, The Box, Blue Rodeo, Blvd and many more international bands of that era. And of course I could not go on without mentioning the Beatles, Elvis, Buddy Holly and the music of the 50's and 60's. In fact I love big band too. the list goes on forever.    Anyhow I never in a million years thought I Kevin Offord would record an album, mind you a small one compared to many, but I've done so, and even co wrote my first song. I am very proud of this work, I hope you will give it a listen. You can find the album titled The Street- Kevin Michael Offord, on itunes, Spotify, Amazon Music.  -- Slainte Kevin If you liked this show's format and your liked the music, please let me know. I am calling this the "Grab Bag" show. Reason is that I pulled from all the other shows some of the songs that I really liked. AND YES... there is some Enter The Haggis in the mix as well.  OH... a special surprise is at the end, a blue grass version of Bohemian Rhapsody by The Petersons. I just had to share that with you because it was just to cool not to share.  If you liked this show's format and your liked the music, please let me know. This show runs a bit long, but the interview was so much fun. I enjoyed talking to Jennifer and all the Celtic history and stories she shared. I compare this interview to sitting by the fire with a good dram and sharing stories with a friend. Jennifer's music is outstanding Celtic folk music. She threw a couple curve balls in there to mix things up as well. We had a lot of fun these past few weeks interviewing bands, but I thought that it would be fun to pick a theme for the show and see what we can find. This week's theme was the Bodhrán, the Irish drum. Reason I picked this is because I have taken up learning the Bodhrán and it is a lot of fun to play and easy even for a beginner.  I also reflect on how Irish Celtic music has a strong influence on blue grass music of Virginia and the Carolina's.  If you liked this show's format and your liked the music, please let me know. In this episode of Real Men Wear Kilts we kind of change things up a bit. We had our Greater Houston Kilted Get Together last night (Feb 12, 2021) and it was a blast. Shane Stark and his family came up to the party and stayed with me and my wonderful queen Cynthia. We had about 25 people show up. We interview Shane and have a quick update from the kilted gathering itself and then Shane surprised us with some great music once we got home and after a few whiskies.  We also have Andrew and Sara interviewing one of our kilted members, The Iron Kilt. He is a real live superhero and walks the streets of Philadelphia helping the homeless and others. This was a really in depth and interesting interview.  For music, we have Shane playing Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Clandoina playing their song Egyptian.
