i could see this method being used for a small batch kettle sour or sour mash method. i would put my wort back in a bag, add my lacto or uncrushed grains, press all the air out, and set it back into the water bath at 95-120 degrees. thanks for the inspiration! I'm going to be experimenting with this for sure!
Great show, fun and informative Steve and James are a riot when they get together.
Seriously, this guy needs to stop saying "you know"

Wonderfully approachable discussion of brewing and beer. James and Steve are entertaining and informative in just theright balance. I highly recommend them to everyone interested in brewing.
I'm learning things all the time from this podcast. James does a great job covering a wide range of topics from simple extract kit brewing to tweeky conversations like sanitization methods and enzymatic properties of grains. The interviews and discussions are focused on techniques and in depth detailed background information, facts, figures, chemical properties, etc, etc.. and yet I don't feel like I'm lost in some college-level chemistry lecture!
Good production, good content, what more could you ask for? I've learned more than I'll probably ever use by listening to this podcast and enjoyed every minute.
the basic brewing podcast is simply outstanding. i look forward to it every week. james' voice is like that of an old friend, discussing our hobby of mutual passion. he gets terrific guests that address topics of interest to homebrewers of all skill levels. james brings an incredibly high level of professionalism to this podcast and it is of terrific quality. if you're a homebrewer, or just considering giving it a try, browse some of the early shows and be inspired!
