This episode contains swearing and laughing! Andrew and Matthew are joined by Keith, to discuss Ken Ham's appearance on the Unbelievable? podcast on September 21st 2019. We are all former YECs and we disagree with Ken Ham on many things, especially when it comes to what science says and why it is more reliable and trustworthy than the bible and that YECism is what is driving people away from the church and that it should be robustly attacked by everyone, especially other Christians. Professor Philip Goff joins Matthew and Andrew to discuss his approach to Christianity -- Religious Fictionalism. Along with an early discussion about the nature of reality, Matthew and Andrew talk with Philip about whether one needs to adopt Christianity as true to benefit from its teachings. Philip makes a compelling case for accepting the good in religion through understanding its metaphors, symbols, and social constructs, without needing to adopt as fact every claim of religion. Andrew and Matthew chat with Dave Warnock about valuing the life we live as atheists and how it compares to how Christianity values life. Dave is facing a terminal diagnosis and during this conversation we all have a laugh, and a cry. Dave has appeared on multiple podcasts on his Dying Out Loud tour. Including a separate conversation with Matthew at Ask An Atheist Anything. Join us for some irreverence, some frank talk, some laughter, and yes, there were tears too! We also want to pass on huge thanks to Marie, for arranging our conversations, if you need an organiser, Marie can help you, here details are here:  Marie D'Elephant, Virtual Assistant mariedelephant@gmail.com mariedelephant.com (life coach page which includes limited information about my virtual assistant work) (This episode has an explicit tag, because from the very start there is swearing and sharp criticism of Christianity) As always, feedback welcome in all the usual places. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/still-unbelievable/message

Recently BBC assistant producer Damon Rosehas created a dust up around Christians asking to heal the disabled. Damon is blind himself and knows a bit about the subject having attended a school for the blind as a youth. To explore Christian disability doctrine and his own views as an atheist, he has written articles and produced a documentary. His work prompted Justin Brierley to invite him to Unbelievable? for a conversation with two disabled Christians -- Zoe Heming and Ian Paul. In this episode Andrew and David, disabled themselves, go over the problems with disability doctrine and healing. What does it mean when a Christian offers to heal you and it fails? Does the disabled community want to be bothered? Have Christians failed in their obligation to think critically about disability doctrine? Is disability doctrine god's silver bullet? We invite you to press play, follow along, and decide for yourself.
