Since January 2007, Lee has served as Executive Director of Life Services, a non-profit agency based in NY with a national mission to provide Advocacy Services, Comprehensive Planning and Trust Services to individuals with disabilities.
This role helps Lee address the needs his own family struggled to address: "As guardian of my disabled sister, and after experiencing first hand the difficulties in ensuring her services and my mother’s fear of what will happen upon her death, I truly recognize the need for peace of mind and care that Life Services provides to families of individuals with disabilities.”
Previously, for over 17 years, Lee was Residential Services Director at Sunshine, Inc., an Ohio non-profit providing residential and vocational services to over 300 individuals.
Active in the Ohio Provider Resource Association (OPRA), Lee chaired the ICF / MR Program Directors Committee and was a member of the State and Local Policy and Reimbursement Committee. He has received special recognitions and awards from the state provider association in Ohio for his dedication, commitment and services for people with disabilities.

Susan Yellin, Esq., a practicing New York attorney for over 25 years, has extensive experience in legal issues related to education and special education.
Ms Yellin is the Director of Advocacy and Transition Services at The Yellin Center for Mind, Brain, and Education, an educational assessment and support center in Manhattan. She works with struggling students and their families to obtain school services, to help identify appropriate school settings, and to advise on issues relating to the college admissions process.
Previously, Mrs. Yellin founded and served as the Executive Director of the nonprofit Center for Learning Differences, providing information and resources to thousands of families and professionals. She also created its signature program, Life After High School, bringing together hundreds of students, parents, and counselors with representatives of colleges and post-secondary programs that offer supports for students who struggle with learning issues.
Beth Polner Abrahams welcomes Barbara Hardt, LCSW, to discuss Traumatic Brain Injury {TBI}, available service programs, how to qualify for benefits, and the role of a service coordinator.
Traumatic brain injury is a complex injury with a broad spectrum of symptoms and disabilities. The impact on a person and his or her family can be devastating.
TBI is a form of acquired brain injury that occurs when the brain, which is soft like jello, suddenly hits against the bony skull, then begins to swell and has no place to expand. The most common causes are motor vehicle accidents [typically involving males age 17 - 35], a sudden stop in a speeding car, whiplash, a fall [the late actress Natasha Richardson's skiing accident] and similar accidents.
Symptoms can be mild, moderate, or severe. A person with a mild TBI may remain conscious or lose consciousness for a few seconds or minutes, and experience headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision or tired eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy, a change in sleep patterns, behavioral or mood changes, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking.
Anyone with signs of moderate or severe TBI should receive medical attention as soon as possible. Because little can be done to reverse the initial brain damage caused by trauma, it is key to stabilize an individual with TBI and focus on preventing further injury.

Beth Polner Abrahams welcomes education advocate Marcia Vogel, who works with families of individuals with disabilities. Mrs. Vogel assists those individuals to receive an appropriate education, negotiate solutions to bureaucratic problems with government agencies, and provide information and referrals for families in need of additional resources.
Marcia Vogel has provided training to school districts and parent groups regarding advocacy and NY State and Federal regulations for special education. A founding member and past president of the SEPTA (Special Education PTA) in her community, she is currently an active member of the Interagency Coordinated Council of Long Island and the Coalition on Health and Wellness in the Early Years. In addition to working for nonprofit agencies for two decades, Marcia Vogel is also a private consultant.
