Building Saas that businesses can rely on (Part 2): "Software design principles for the Agile Entrepreneur"We reviewed cloud computing concepts last timeChoose your system of record1) it must meet your availability requirements, or you will need offline systems (Podio is good enough for 99% of cases)2) it must offer direct API integration, preferably ‘REST’ style3) it must be easy to export all key dataAvoid writing custom software whenever possible1) Differentiate by your work process and your business methods2) Bake those processes and methods into the system around the ‘events’Only integrate with systems that support synchronization1) shopify recently banned Mailchimp because they wouldn’tIf you need custom code, have it run on demand1) avoid storing any additional data outside your SOR2) customers should pay direct costs of anything not on demandYou are not a security expert, so be very afraid of hackers1) You need to own your domain and make sure your customers know it2) You must have reliable SSL at every layer, even if your just showing content3) Keep your marketing site public stuff, and make sure your host keeps their software updated with security patches (especially if you use Wordpress)Follow us on social media (@PodcastPodio) to stay up to date on all Podio Podcast news.Support the show (http://www.brickbridgeconsulting.com/podcast)

In this show, we discuss the urgent need to control complexity in your projects and buildouts.1. Consumers making data based decision making and wanting to make that next step to create a podio system that best fits them. 2. When thinking about a project timeline consumers need to be focused on what really matters to them, then we can adjust the small details. 3. There are two types of consumers when it comes to podio: the ones who have no idea what to do with their blank canvas or the ones want everything but could have a budget limitation. 4. Trying to steer our consumers the right way to make a tangible asset for their company. 5. Management vs. Users: we don't want to say no but sometimes there are limitations to the podio platform. 6. We like to build our users a basic platform to start out on before we get really complex integration involved. It starts to generate ideas and then the consumer realizes what they need and don't need within podio. Follow us on social media (@PodcastPodio) to stay up to date on all Podio Podcast news.Support the show (http://www.brickbridgeconsulting.com/podcast)
