Altered Circumstances

2024-12-1032:06

Sermon Series:  X FactorSermon Title: Altered CircumstancesSermon Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25; Matthew 2Speaker: Andy BrattonBig Idea:  The addition of Jesus into this world and God’s plan brought tension.  Dealing with the tension that is Jesus is surrendering to His will. Matthew 1:1-6 There was tension in his family tree. Question 1 – How can our past cause tension in our present?  How can we deal with it? Matthew 1:18-25 There was tension with his mother and earthly father. Question 2 – Share how pride can cause someone to make a bad decision. Matthew 2:1-8,16 There was tension with his “king.” Question 3 – Why do you think Herod was threatened by Jesus? Matthew 2:7-12 There was tension with his seekers. Question 4 – Have you ever been caught in the middle of an awkward situation?  How did you handle it? Matthew 2:13,19-23 There was tension with his protection. Question 5 – Share about a time when you were afraid or nervous to obey God. Tension is released when we talk with God, obey God, and put Jesus first. Have someone at the table read 1 Corinthians 11:24-26.  Have someone else pray.  Take communion together. The post Altered Circumstances appeared first on Kalkaska Church of Christ.

Sermon Series:  Teach us to Pray!Sermon Title: Bow with your eyes upSermon Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:1-12Speaker: Andy Bratton Big Idea:  Jehoshaphat felt the nations closing in on him and begged God for guidance.  When we pray, we are asking God for guidance, even as the world is closing in around us. 20:1-2 Sometimes it feels as though the world is closing in on us and so we pray. 20:3-4 Life can be terrifying, in response we pray and ask others to pray with us. 20:5-9 When we pray we acknowledge God and we acknowledge what we know about God. 20:10-12 Prayer is accepting we are limited in our power and understanding. Hebrews 12:1-2 Psalm 34:5 Psalm 119:37 Matthew 6:22 A good prayer life is fueled by our vision. The post Bow with your eyes up appeared first on Kalkaska Church of Christ.
Sermon Series:  Teach us to PraySermon Scripture: Daniel 2,9Speaker: Andy BrattonBig Idea:  Daniel’s heart was what made his prayers powerful, effective, and worth modeling.  The first instruction of prayer is to start with the right attitude.
