Conviction
Description
When John Quinney was ten years old, he took the stand to testify against his own father. He had come to believe that his dad Melvin was the murderous leader of a satanic cult. It would be decades before John would learn that his family was just one of many swept up in a panic that gripped America in the 1980s—one in which hundreds of people were accused of taking part in underground satanic cults that sacrificed infants and sexually abused children. By the time the panic had subsided, scores of people were in prison, convicted on little to no evidence—people like John's father. Conviction: American Panic takes you inside one of the darkest and most bizarre chapters of American history. This series contains descriptions of adult subject matter, including details of sexual abuse and trauma. It may not be suitable for everyone, discretion is advised.
Really annoying to have had a preview episode from the feed of The Clearing, only to not be able to listen to it here. Won't be using Spotify as it's a terrible platform for podcasts. Disappointed.
is season 2 going to start? am I missing something?
Thus why the cash bail system needs to be eliminated. Consider that one kid who was in Rikers 2 yrs because bail was so high. Charges dropped because they had no evidence for trial, yet the kid already committed suicide.
this fucking attorney needs to get bitch slapped
1 word for Manny Gomez...NOBLE!!
new logo don't like
The narrator is annoying af, he wants to dislike Manny for no reason. He keeps talking about he has "doubts" about him. Doubts about what?? All Manny is trying to do is help the wrongly convicted and expose the crooked system. I have nothing but admiration for Manny. We need more people like him.
I hate how the new lawyers were trying to "silence" Manny for outing corruptions, claiming that they feared it "could impact Pedro's case", foh. There was NO CASE against Pedro to begin with! The fact that Manny was trying to expose the corrupt system had no bearing on the bogus case against Pedro. The system is corrupt and needs exposure. Kudos to Manny.
I don't think Manny did anything wrong. The girl damaged his car and the crowd attacked him. What was he supposed to do?? He acted accordingly. He called for help and tried to manage as best he could until "help" arrived, but the "help" came and punished him. Ridiculous. Smh. I'm confused as to why the narrator thinks Manny was in the wrong??
Wtf was the lawyer so aggressive?? He wasn't even aware of the allegations against his client lol, what an idiot. Only a guilty person gets that worked up over simple questions.
any new stories coming out for 2020?
are you doing anything new?
why do people keep asking if this is fiction or true? isnt it obvious its true? im from the east coast maybe its more of a normal thing to not trust police but there are plenty of instances in other states of cops doing wrong. Shooting unarmed minorities, choking unarmed men to death, killing young kids.. i mean come on if you believe all the police are honest truthful and arent regular humans capable of lieing then you are living a pretty privileged life. You might have to head to NY and ride the subway to the bronx and walk around a little...gain some life experience or something.... with that said... East Coast til i die!!! 👍🏾
I'm going to try and make this my last comment but anyone that will take this one podcast and let it make you not like Manny Gomez please please look up some of the stuff he does. watch crime+punished on Hulu look up the law he presses to be passed in multiple states and has successfully helped get passed in at least 2 states. since I listened to the podcast I reached out to this man and from the first conversation he has been my friend and still is today. if you have a problem with him then you've never seen what harm a cop with to much pressure or power is capable of doing or your one of them. not all laws are bad but this man does his part in weeding the bad ones out
since listening to this podcast I have been lucky to befriend pi Manny. this guy has heart and stands for what is right and fights with everything for what's right. some will say he goes to far but when it comes to the truth someone has to be bold enough to fight for it. I'd stand by him anyday
Enjoyable and eye opening series. Asks a lot of questions of the justice system.
by the end of the show I have no respect for the narrator. we all heard what happened. if Manny is guilty of anything it's doin ANYTHING to get Innocent people exonerated... and the law hates it poor folk ain't got a chance.
Great series! Thanks!
