We're back, we're recording from our cushy home bunkers weathering physical distancing but still keeping up with our podcast and our work.  This week we welcome Brenda Bisner, who is the Chief Content Officer of Kidoodle.TV (Owned by A Parent Media Co. Inc.).  Brenda is highly passionate about creating a safe space for kids. As COPPA rules came into play on YouTube creators, saw a  once-lucrative kids channel revenue drop exponentially, forcing them to look for new opportunities. As we might expect, Kidoodle.TV has seen exponential interest as its a place where kids content producers and creators can leverage to offset the loss of revenue.  Brenda talks with Tom about the current kid content landscape, how she's working hard with Kidoodle to make sure kids have a safe place to watch content, and that creators have an additional revenue stream that encourages them to keep doing what they love.  Visit Kidoodle.TV for more information or connect with Brenda on Linkedin.  - The Video Insiders Podcast is available on all major podcast players. *Special note: This episode was recorded in early February 2020 and much has changed since, like many conferences, Social Media North has been postponed* Stuart Reynolds, aka Brittlestar, might not be a name you've heard of; he's not even a YouTube creator. Carlos likes to call him Canada's answer to Hank Green because he's often the adult in the room crowded with much more inexperienced creators. We don't typically bring on influencers or creators into the show, but we felt that Stuart was a good guest to have as he's been around the bend and approaches things differently since he doesn't make a living on YouTube. His platforms are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, as well as whatever another burgeoning platform is making noise.  Here are some of the subjects we discussed: What was Stewart doing before becoming internet famous? Why does he think there are so many Canadian creators? Stuart's point of view on what's growing in terms of business for him and the industry. Why he's creating Social Media North in Canada. How platforms, brands, and such treat Canada like an unwelcome second cousin.  Learn all about Social Media North by visiting www.socialmedianorth.ca You can follow Brittlestar on Twitter or Instagram. - The Video Insiders Podcast is available on all major podcast players. It's September, which means summer is officially over and the video insiders are back with a new podcast.  This week Tom and Carlos discuss the types of content that dominate on YouTube. The episode was inspired by a blog post called What content dominates on YouTube? written by Rasty Turek who is the founder and PEX.  PEX bills itself as a global video & music search engine and have some data on the content that dominates YouTube.  Here's what was discussed during the episode:  The new statistics regarding the number of hours being uploaded on YouTube. According to PEX it's now over 600 hours per minute. We're about to hit peak unique uploaders in the next few years.   What content is really popping? There might be a lot of gaming content but it's not really being watched. No surprise for many that music by far the most viewed per average upload. Entertainment actually has the highest percentage of views and what does this mean? What actionable steps can we make? Enjoy the show!
