Your greatest gift to others is to be the healthiest version of you that you can be.I used to spend too much time working on others for me rather than working on me for them. Your personal health and well-being is the greatest gift you can give to the world. Personal development is the hardest work you will ever do, and often the least appreciated by those close to you. Make self improvement firstly for your own benefit then whether others notice or benefit from it at least you always will. You can’t give away what you don’t have. You can’t sustain withdrawals others make from your life without sufficient deposits that leave you with surplus. It doesn’t work with money or love or energy or life. You can’t love your neighbour with a love you have never given to yourself. --- Let me know when you're watching screenshot the episode and tag me in it @PaulScanlonUK and share with me your thoughts or a favourite quote.  Please leave a review of this podcast channel and I'd love for you to subscribe. Recently I was in a community centre and the complex and contradictory range of groups listed in the lobby who used the venue was vast and reminded me of something I once heard @bishopjakes say about the mixture in us humans. They had everything from FAN clubs to FIGHT clubs holding events there, but it occurred to me that non of these users owned or defined the venue. It got me thinking about the range of things that can be in all our lives simultaneously, and yet non of them are truly who we are. Our lives can be host to a whole range of opposing thoughts, emotions, motives and other ‘renters’ without any one of them being able to lay claim to our true identity. . Don’t allow the presence of fan or fight clubs in you to define you, just keep evolving and growing until you’ve reached a place of a perhaps more exclusive cliental. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you for listening to the Growing Big People with Paul Scanlon podcast, we want to hear from you so please keep in touch with us and share your thoughts on this episode with Paul on his social media - @PaulScanlonuk Don't forget to subscribe, and leave us your review. Opinions come with energies attached, in fact the energy is often far stronger than the opinion. An opinion fades in the memory but its energy lingers in the soul so stay away from OPINIONATED PEOPLE. It’s not their opinion that troubles you weeks later it’s the toxicity of their energy that they left in your soul. Cathedrals took over 200 years to build. The cathedral in your heart is about committing to dreams and visions that we know we will never live to see finished. It’s about planting trees under whose shade you will never sit but your children and their children will. It’s about generationally infused thinking and living. What cathedral is in your heart? Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you have to rebuild the relationship as if to prove how forgiving you really are. Sometimes the best you can do and all you should do is set yourself free and wish them well from afar.   Thank you for listening to the Growing Big People with Paul Scanlon podcast, we want to hear from you so please keep in touch with us and share your thoughts on this episode with Paul on his social media - @PaulScanlonuk Don't forget to subscribe, and leave us your review. What we call Christianity was created by people not God. Jesus is bigger than Christianity, he’s not a joiner of groups or the head of a denomination. He’s not a fan of religion which Christianity has often been reduced to.  All forms of tribalism were created by us including denominationalism.  I’m a Christian but that doesn’t define me or Jesus or you.  I love and follow Jesus but often Christianity tells me how, where and when to do that like an instruction manual for an object I bought.  Let’s not reduce Jesus to our Christian tribe or any tribe. If Jesus has a group it’s the humanity group. The cross was not for the church, it was for the world.  Thank you for listening to the Growing Big People with Paul Scanlon podcast, we want to hear from you so please keep in touch with us and share your thoughts on this episode with Paul on his social media - @PaulScanlonuk Don't forget to subscribe, and leave us your review. In this divided world commit to finding common ground with people who see things differently to you. Unlike uncommon ground common ground has to be sought after because we are increasingly defaulting to our differences. You have more in common with people than you think. Image of Self - part 3

Image of Self - part 3

2019-01-2936:14

We were all created in the image of God; therefore God has a self image. We are like God and God is like us. Often our self image is unrealistic, we think ourselves capable of or ready for something we aren’t. Like Peter promising he would never forsake Jesus, then denied him three times; we too can have an unrealistic self image. The great news is that grace holds us between images, between where we are and where we want to be. This teaching also deals with our need for self awareness in discovering our unique God given personality type. Be intentional about endings because a weak finish can hinder a strong start. Endings don’t have to be pretty or tidy some are like tying down a tent rope in a storm at night. The environment is often too hostile and you don’t have the the luxury of lots of time or light to do a neat job on the ropes.  Tie things up best you can and move on.  Thank you for listening to the Growing Big People with Paul Scanlon podcast, we want to hear from you so please keep in touch with us and share your thoughts on this episode with Paul on his social media - @PaulScanlonuk Don't forget to subscribe, and leave us your review.
