Grab a glass of wine. Tonight is poetry night on Inner Views with Ghetto Girl Blue and we are visiting The Punany Poets, that controversial poetic troupe from HB0's Real Se+.
In this Full-Mashup episode of Cold Brew with Ghetto Girl Blue, Mya B (Shoot Films, Not People) asks, "What is it like working with The Punany Poets?" The conversation between cast members LOVE the poet, Lamar, Charlie, and Theresa The S.O.N.G.B.I.R.D. speaks volumes about American discomfort with sexual conversation. Captured live at The Punany Poet's romantic comedy show at Producers' Club in New York City. It also features performances of Jessica Holter's best and most little-known Spoken Word performances with live audience reactions.
The Head Doctor Show 2 finds Ghetto Girl Blue in rare form in New York City on stage at The Producers' Club in this special episode of romantic comedy theater that speaks frankly about human sexuality. Mature, educational, and made for adults only."Jessica Holter, aka “The Head Doctor” is the creative genius behind the ensemble performance group known as the Punany Poets. The group was featured on the groundbreaking HBO series “Real Sex” and continues to perform across the country. The “Punany Playhouse” is the latest project that Holter is working on that features not only performances of Black Erotica but also real talk about sex, relationships, and the Black community. Rolling out was present at the private event “Dinner with the Head Doctor” as Holter led an adult conversation about sex. The gathering was intimate and dinner guests shared experiences, and beliefs that showed that when it comes to sexuality, you can’t judge the Black community by its cover. For some, it was a first-time experience to talk in a group about intimacy, but everyone was comfortable and safe so the conversation flowed." - Rolling Out

Toné! ushered the New Jack Swing onto stages with live instrumentation, high energy, and colorful, cutting-edge fashion. Their sophomore album, The Revival, was released in 1990, and their double platinum-certified Sons of Soul was released in 1993.The group reached Platinum status once more with House of Music in 1996, before Lead Vocalist, Charles Ray Wiggins, left the group and reemerged as Raphael Saadiq. Don the CEO and Lady Poetry invite Jessica Holter, Founder of The Punany Poets into the studio to discuss toxic control and obsession in relationships on Coffy Talk Radio. When we think of toxic relationships, we usually think of those that are physically abusive. But there are other kinds of toxic relationships that can be just as harmful, if not more so. These are the kind of relationships where one person is in complete control of the other, where there is an obsession with power and control. These relationships are often marked by jealousy, manipulation, and a need for constant validation. The toxic partner will try to isolate their partner from friends and family, and they will constantly put them down. They will try to control every aspect of their lives, making them feel like they can never do anything right. If you find yourself in a relationship like this, it's important to get out as soon as possible. These relationships can be incredibly damaging to your mental and emotional health. If you're feeling trapped or like you're walking on eggshells all the time, reach out for help. There are many resources available to help you get out of a toxic relationship and start healing your wounds.

Monday, January 28th, at 9pm join me on Inner Views with Ghetto Girl Blue to talk about Genesis 19 #Genesis19. We are talking about the book of the #Bible that tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. People are often, so caught up in the rachetry of the homosexuality suggested by this text, but say nothing of the way women are portrayed in these powerful verses. First I will share the story, as my big sister Terenda Goodwin-Raney used to tell the stories of the Bible to me, with colorful ghetto finesse. Then, we will break it down and make it relevant to popular topics of today. Please subscribe to listen.
Let's discuss Toxic Relationships tonight with Don the CEO.It's shocking how many people stay in toxic relationships. It's even more shocking how many people don't realize they're in one until it's too late. Toxic relationships are characterized by control, obsession, and a complete lack of respect. If you're in a relationship like this, it's important to get out as soon as possible.staying in a toxic relationship is like slow poison. It might not kill you immediately, but it will slowly eat away at your happiness and your self-respect. eventually, you'll find yourself in a shell of who you once were. if you're lucky, you'll realize what's happening before it's too late. but for many people, the realization comes after they've already lost themselves completely. If you're in a toxic relationship, the best thing you can do is get out of it. It won't be easy, but it's worth it. You deserve to be happy and respected, and no one has the right to take that away from you.
