War, On Drugs.

War, On Drugs.

2020-11-1301:36:131

This is our Veteran's Day show for 2020.  Among all the typical adulation, free pancakes and TYFYS (AKA Merry Christmas for Veterans), what we get in America is often a whitewashed version of military service, completely devoid of all of the complexities of serving in the military, let alone warfare. In an attempt to provide some much needed balance this year, we are doing our 11/11 show on a topic that doesn't see the light of day much:  drug use among soldiers and in warfare.  It's a less-glamorous component of armed conflict that goes all the way back to Homer and Ajax. Thanks for listening!!!https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/pdf/10.2105/AJPH.64.12_Suppl.38WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon

Matt interviews Austin from Atlas Arms, a firearms technology start-up that has performed the incredible feat of delivering a working new hardware product.  Atlas Arms seeks to empower the individual by giving them access to small arms ammunition that has the capability to penetrate soft armor, while retaining an expansion rate that makes it effective in soft targets.Austin has been doing some media appearances following the release of a promotional video of their new round.  Matt and Austin talk about the technology a bit on the front end of the show, but finish up with some philosophy surrounding guns and gun control.https://www.atlasarms.org/WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
Co-host and producer Nick, decided to take the lead in this exciting new episode. Nick sat down with author, and columnist, Naomi Schaefer Riley to discuss her book  "The New Trail of Tears : How Washington is Destroying American Indians". Naomi's book portrays life on Indian Reservations in modern day America, and how poor the living situations of the residents have become, due to their complete dependence on the US federal government.Naomi's work comes highly recommended. This book is truly a real time example of how socialism and dependence on the state, destroys economies, cultures, and individuality, only we need not look to communist dictatorships of yesteryear, or third world developing countries across the world, but we can look right in our own backyard, in the middle of our country.Check Out More of Naomi's Work HERE!This book is totally worth the read. The American Civil Religion

The American Civil Religion

2020-08-3101:32:57

Today on TSQ, Matt talks about a very powerful force in American life:  The American Civil Religion.  This is not a new concept, but it is one that isn't discussed as much as it used to be.  A  civil religion is a phenomenon whereby the nominally secular state takes on things normally associated with organized religion, such as dogmas, holy sites or shrines, sermons, incantations and prayers.  It's creepy as all get out, and should offend us all, whether we are religious or not.Robert Bellah's Articlehttp://www.robertbellah.com/articles_5.htmTragedy of US Foreign Policy Bookhttps://www.fpri.org/books/tragedy-us-foreign-policy-americas-civil-religion-betrayed-national-interest/#:~:text=the%20National%20Interest-,The%20Tragedy%20of%20U.S.%20Foreign%20Policy%3A%20How%20America's,Religion%20Betrayed%20the%20National%20Interest&text=Pulitzer%20Prize%E2%80%93winning%20historian%20Walter,foreign%20policy%20ever%20since%201776WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
In observance of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we take a deep dive into the history surrounding them.  The A-bombings is one of those historical events just about everyone knows and has heard the story of, but hardly anyone really has a deep understanding of.  So many important details get lost in the process, and it doesn't help that the US government and media have done a great job of sanitizing and whitewashing the violent legacy of strategic bombing in WW2.Covered on this series (Pt 1 & 2)-A quick word about the Manhattan project and Hyde Park memo-Silverplate and the 509th Composite Group-Strategic bombing in general, including incendiary bombing-What was going on in the Japanese government circa 1945-The Potsdam Conference, declaration and its earlier drafts-The bombing mission and its aftermath-The influence of the USSR on Japan's surrender-The legacy of the bombings, and their defenders' main argumentshttps://www.nationalgeographic.com/photography/proof/2017/08/fire-fury-hiroshima-nagasaki-anniversary-nuclear-atomic-bomb-pictures/https://www.stripes.com/news/special-reports/world-war-ii-the-final-chapter/features/the-rarely-seen-images-of-death-and-damage-that-survived-hiroshima-1.360858WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon

On the sixth installment of our series on the history of US gun control, we examine the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986, which was the result of a Senate investigation in 1982 that detailed the litany of entrapment and malicious prosecution of gun owners and dealers by the ATF.  After finding that 75% of charges it filed were spurious at best, Congress made an attempt to rein the ATF in.  The FOPA revised several parts of the Gun Control Act of 1968, added some protections for travelers, and banned manufacture of new automatic weapons.  Thanks, Feds!Thank you to all of our listeners and supporters for seeing us through our 100th episode!Fraudulent Vote https://youtu.be/kxYnxx8cRxghttps://www.congress.gov/bill/99th-congress/senate-bill/49https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/12/feds-paid-a-teen-to-get-a-neck-tattoo-of-a-giant-squid-smoking-a-joint/282279/THE FIREARMS OWNERS' PROTECTION ACT: A HISTORICAL AND LEGAL PERSPECTIVEhttps://firearmscoalition.org/tag/atf-abuse/https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=osgrd1MPb7IPart IPart IIPart IIIPart IVPart VWebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreonNEW Merch Store!
On this edition of The Statist Quo, we embark on the most ambitions project to date...a history of revolutionary and republican movements in Ireland. Before we get into the meat of our topic, however, we need to go back several hundred years to see how and why the desire for an independent republic developed, which is in no small part the byproduct of British intervention. This is Part 1, covering from the 12th century to the middle of 1912. Fields of Athenry—Dropkick Murphyshttps://vimeo.com/27633199Jack Spirko on the Dark Side of Adam Smithhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-survival-podcast/id284148583?i=1000482898141WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
This is a continuation of our series on the history of US gun control. We pick up in the late 1970s, talking about advocacy groups on both sides, the media war that was taking shape, and several major assassinations and assassination attempts that would change the gun control debate for good.We also talk about the 1986 Miami FBI shootout where two FBI agents were killed by two Army vets and bank robbers. This changed American policing tactics and weapons forever and resulted in the 1986 Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act. Thanks for listening!Catch UP on Parts 1-4!Part IPart IIPart IIIPart IVWebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
Friend of the show Theo from Crowd Funded Government contacted me recently, with an announcement he wanted to make, about a new direction for CFG.  We spoke about this change of strategy for his organization. While I may not be involved much in electoral politics myself, I know that some of my listeners are, and that's why I published this episode.  I don't claim to know the best way forward...and if somebody that is more plugged into that world can make use of Theo's strategy, I'm all for it.Thanks for listening! Check out Theo's Awesome Website Crowd Funded Government!WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon

On this episode of The Statist Quo, Matt is joined by Andrew from the Anarchy Among Friends Roundtable podcast.  They discuss a point Andrew made on his show a few weeks ago, he postulated that National Socialism was rising in America, and we are seeing many of the same political, cultural and social events that preceded the rise of the Nazi Party.Matt and Andrew define fascism and National Socialism using their founders own words, talk about the fascist governments of Italy, Spain and Germany and close with the similarities they observe in modern day America. Thanks for listeningAnarchy Among Friends Roundtablehttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/anchor-podcasts/anarchy-among-friendsThe Beard Strugglehttps://www.thebeardstruggle.com/ Get 15% off with Andrew's promo:  inkedanarchist15 WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
Today Terry (CDI Tactical), Matt Freeman (Statist Quo Podcast), and Pat Watson (Uncensored Tactical)  rub their big brains together to explain to the uninformed why open source security issues may not be as scary as some people may think. This is in response to yet another complaint they got about (gasp) “What if criminals used these techniques”?!?!Click here to view our *source FAQ article*, which has actually been updated and polished up a little for the first time in 3 years.Terry: *Instagram CDI Tactical*Matt: *Twitter StatistQuoPod*WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
Today Matt, solo, talks about the death of Elijah McClain and the recent reopening of the investigation of his death, which was preceded by the Aurora CO Police choking him out and a paramedic administering 500mg of Ketamine, an anesthetic dose.  Matt talks about McClain's death and  the use of Ketamine in general in emergency medicine, and the special challenging ethical questions it poses for lovers of individual sovereignty and liberty.Matt also talks about the recent "report" that made it into a NY Times story about Russia paying bounty money to the Taliban.  A person familiar with the matter claimed it was pathetic garbage.  IF true, this would be just another piece of journalistic malpractice from the failing New York Times.Enjoy!https://www.distractify.com/p/elijah-mcclain-body-cam NY times archived page--dont give those greaseballs clickshttp://archive.is/ndPGsWebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
Matt brings on friend of the show Pat Watson from Uncensored Tactical to discuss the biggest problem plaguing Americans today.  It's not thieving, corrupt government.  It's not bloodsucking corporations.  It's not the police state, or tech censorship, nor is it the Fed.  These are all HUGE problems, to be sure, but they all stem from one thing.  A failure of leadership, on the personal level. What is personal leadership?  It's taking personal responsibility for your own life, and instead of asking "Why won't somebody fix X" or "It's X person's fault", the self-leader asks "What can I do to overcome this problem?"This country was intended to be ran by people who were leaders in their own lives.  "Self-government", as the founders envisioned, requires self-leadership. We, the individual people, were supposed to be the sentinels of our liberties.  However, Americans have abdicated that responsibility, and instead have decided to follow false leaders, like politicians and celebrities.  Matt and Pat discuss some of the ways that has manifested itself, like in parenting and college debt.  Matt also talks some about his personal story, which is both a story of colossal failure of personal leadership and a story of an individual deciding once again to be a leader in his own life. Thanks for listening!Pat's website:  www.uncensoredtactical.comDiscussed on the show:  Divorce Corp documentary https://www.divorcecorp.com/WebsiteFacebookTwitterPatreon
This episode is a continuation of our discussion of the history of gun control in the United States.  Part 4 covers the Gun Control Act of 1968 from a different angle than Part 3, and we also talk about the societal and cultural climate of the 1960s and 70s, to see if we can tease out factors that caused people to demand gun control (if what the mainstream says is correct).  We also talk about the Cincinnati Revolt in 1977, marking the NRA's transformation into a pro-gun rights lobby.  We also go over some state gun control efforts, federal bills to ban handguns, the fact and fiction of Saturday Night Specials, and the rise of anti-gun lobbying groups like the Coalition to Ban Handguns (it's still around) and Handgun Control Inc, which would eventually morph into the Brady Campaign.Enjoy! The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence - Imagine A Future Free From Gun Violence (formerly Coalition to Ban Handguns)Guns Prevent Thousands of Crimes Every Day, Research Shows | Lawrence W.
