In 1967 Martin Seligman initiated the field of research on learned helplessness. This can develop in childhood or adulthood as a response to enduring negative effects: neglect, abuse, famine, war, unjust imprisonment, chronic illness, etc.  10 months into this pandemic we are seeing the negative effects of felt helplessness in ourselves and society.  When the people of Israel felt powerless over the situation of their sin and suffering, God sent us Jeremiah.  Today Jeremiah (select verses from chapter 31) teaches us hope in the Messiah Jesus
Here's a devotion for this weekend. Let us pray the Lord send workers from his church, like St. Luke, who will minister to the needs of body and soul
