Ever been intimidated by or skeptical about homeownership and/or real estate investing? Our friend Erika B. is the woman you need to know. Politics. It’s how people become dehumanized in the sight of the “free” and the hearts of the “brave.” In this episode, we chat with our friend, Justin Giboney of The And Campaign, about identity idolatry in politics, the Gospel-focused roles Christians should play in politics, and three components necessary to truly love our neighbors, regardless of their political affiliation. For more information on The And Campaign, visit https://andcampaign.org/To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.comIvey.Media/Partner

So, About Friends

Friends. How many of us have them? Better question: how many of us have the kind of friendships that can weather the storms of life and survive? Jackie shares the one thing that trumps everything in her deep, intimate friendships and Preston shares wisdom on cultivating healthy friendships after ending toxic ones.To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.comIvey.Media/Partner
Our friendship with Caresse has been . . . complicated. She joins us for this episode as we chat about her deconstruction journey, her exploration of queer thelogy, and how she experienced the transformative power and love of Jesus while on the brink of suicide. To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join us on patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.comIvey.Media/Partner
Whether you believe in it or not, every believer engages in spiritual warfare. Temptation is the enemy’s way of joining forces with sin in an attempt to destroy us. In this episode, we discuss our personal experiences with temptation post-salvation, encounters with God that changed our perspectives on spiritual warfare, and the role of faith in the battle against temptation. To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.comIvey.Media/Partner
Ask any healthy couple and they’ll tell you that communication is key for a strong relationship. The same goes for your relationship with God, which is why prayer is essential. In this episode, we’re chatting about the enemy of prayer, why prayer feels inconvenient, and how we can suck less at it.To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com
At the root of anxiety is one tiny word that has the power to suck joy and contentment out of saints and aints alike—fear. Specifically, fear of what we cannot control. We examine why Adam and Eve lacked anxiety in the Garden and what we can gain from them to lead less anxious lives. Book Reference: The Cry of the Soul by Dan Allender and Tremper LongmanTo get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com

The phenomenon of celebrity is quite…strange. Jackie talks about the pressure of maintaining a facade when notoriety places her in uncomfortable situations, and Preston advocates for a “hierarchy of opinions” to keep us all from becoming puppets. We also explore how celebrity culture affects the local church and its leaders.Previous Episode Reference: Fame: Christian Celebrity Culture (Season 3: Episode 5)Book Reference: Illusions of Immortality: A Psychology of Fame and Celebrity by David Giles Book Reference: The Great Divorce by C.S. Does running his bath water, baking him cookies, and rubbing his back equate to submission? The short answer? Nah. In this episode, we’re talking about how the purity of submission is displayed during the inconveniences of marriage and how true submission is a test of a wife’s trust—in God and in her husband. Previous Episode Reference: When Your Man is Intimidated by Your Gifts (Season 2: Episode 1)Book Reference: Holier Than Thou by Jackie Hill PerryTo get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com
Let’s be clear— headship and dominance are not the same thing. Christ-like headship requires two things that may be difficult for some husbands: sacrifice and vulnerability. Guns aren't foreign to the American way of life and neither is the misuse, murder, and destructive violence that's caused by them. Jackie isn't the biggest fan of guns for that reason. Preston, (her husband, as you know), owns them and believes them to be a useful tool in protecting your family. Listen in as Jackie picks Preston's brain about guns and how to make sense of a complex subject. To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com
We clearly knew something about sex before getting married but sadly, most of our perspectives were toxic. Worldliness and unhealthy Christian frameworks about sexuality shaped our thinking as it probably has for many of us. So let's talk about it. To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join uson patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com
If you heard someone use the word “Black biblical interpretation”, would you have any idea  what they meant by it? We didn’t until we had a chat with Esau about it and we soon realized  it’s a practice the entire church would greatly benefit from.  To purchase a copy of “Reading While Black” : https://amzn.to/3NCChT3 To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join us  on patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com

Friends are like family. Especially friends that have the same faith as you. So it can be  devastating when a friend leaves the faith they once represented. On today’s episode, we will  talking about how to deal with it, including how to walk with friends that are “deconstructing”.  To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join us  on patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com
The Bible tells us to guard our hearts right? Well, how often have you thought about how to  apply the principle to your marriage relationship? There’s temptations everywhere. From ex’s, to  co-workers, to pornography, even bitterness and entitlement can harden your heart towards  your spouse. Let’s chat about how to keep our hearts soft towards God and each other.  To get early access to 30 Minutes with The Perrys and other With The Perry’s content, join us  on patreon.com/withtheperryswww.withtheperrys.comwww.jackiehillperry.comwww.preston-perry.com

wow I didn't realize he took it down. he hasn't said anything about it. although I have dropped his Patreon recently so maybe he said something in there. I loved it. and I don't understand why he was surprised about the reactions to the theological thursdays. like he was legit surprised that they were so controversial.

So good! What amazes me about verse 2 is as a church, we have created this rule that if there a challenges, physically or otherwise, then sin is the root! Baffles me that this is still going on. I've been victim of this accusation when my child became ill from a unknown birth defect. Lord heal our ignorance as a church to see people and not be sin hunters!

I have avoided this epidsode like the plague until today, and I just wanted you to know that God has spoken a lot of grace into my heart through your willingness to be honest about your current struggles. So thank you for that.

I am at min 19:11 and I see that you have spoken about irksome and dangerous relationships. But you may have missed the ones in the middle, th (psychologically) toxic relationships where someone is creating division with you and others (i.e., with you and your spouse, etc), isolating you, manipulating you. That is toxic and, at some point, boundaries might look like cutting someone off. We are quick to say that people just want an easy life but I believe most people that are seeking help for "toxic" relationships are long-suffering and have been been victimized with little support for a while (possiblely years and years). In the church, we don't talk enough about toxic, spirit draining, or verbally/emotionally abusive relationships. The world just says leave the person and cut them off; but the church says endure and love. However for how long? Until you have little to no faith? Or little to no self-esteem? This can lead to a depressive state. At some point one has to discern when that type of relationship becomes injurious to your well- being.

it was your need for mercy and his response (visible repentance)! His being affected by how you were affected. Powerful because in the "church" it has been perfectly ok for only one side to be repentant while the other remain unrepentant, unaware, hard hearted, and continue in their sin. That begins to devalue the one person's humanity, spirit, and faith. It becomes ok with everyone (except God) for one to be the punching bag.

Powerful!!! Thank you for allowing God to use you in being real real! Soo important in navigating life as a Christian, this glorifies God, his mercy, power, love and grace instead of the facade and pressure of the false image of "perfection". To God be the glory!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

A great way to dig deeper into the understanding "toxic" friendships can be when someone first becomes a believer and them having to possibly discern their friendships when they were in a life of sin as 'toxic' to their new life in Jesus. Learning how to still love them but understanding that they may not be spiritually mature enough to endure that friend's constant presence without slipping back into their own ways.
