I watched, 'The Act' on HULU and was hooked by the first few episodes. The acting was great, and I had difficulty believing that Dee Dee Blancharde was portrayed by actress, Patricia Arquette. Totally amazing transformation. NOW... I stumbled upon this podcast by happenstance. I like Dr Phil, but the commercialization, via Oprah et al, of his doctoral knowledge and experience had turned me off to his show, so I stopped paying attention to his success and public relations. MY APPRECIATION FOR DR PHIL HAS BEEN REJUVENATED BY THIS PODCAST.! He really gets to show the listeners that he is no joke, and much more than just a puppet of daytime TV. He dives deep into this most fascinating story, as tragic as it was. The TV show, 'The Act' was highly dramatized, as it should have been. However, having a podcast with freedom of speech and time, REALLY DOES allow Dr Phil to dig in to the mental aspect as well as comparing the abnormal traits of the mother, and the affects of the world around her as the effects suffered from her pathos mental disorder, etc. Bottom line....this is one HELL OF A PODCAST!

could the police be helping to cover this up since this is a very rich family?

Katie Hawley I believe it was murder. no one would ever write in the 3rd person if they would kill themselves. also if your going to kill yourself, you would probably say your sorry to your loved ones. I also don't think a person would kill themselves and have there body be completely naked. You wouldn't have enough strength to tie the rope tight enough behind the back.

I have not heard enough to convince me it wasnt suicide. I thought it was said that the boyfriend left a message that max wasnt going to make it , I know there has never been evidence of this message but what did the boyfriend say?

I feel that Phil is overly simplifying when he calls Nicholas Godejohn a predator. He was simple and Gypsy Rose manipulated him.

I would love for you to interview Nicholas Gotajohn. I mean, from what I've seen and heard he was truly a mental person. And I don't think that he was in his right mind when he did the things he did. Don't get me wrong, I feel absolutely 100% bad for Gypsy but she's going to be so much better. And what are the odds if she has a child that she would do the same thing to them that happened to her?

I am wondering how she ever learned to walk in the first place, if her mom was like this since 3 months old?

Stacey Ruminski she was put in the wheelchair when she was 5 and told she couldn't walk. till she stood up one day and walked through the house that was her first inclination that her mother had been lying to, also causing her to have many, many unnecessary surgeries. this is a text book case of Munchausen By proxy. worse case I've ever seen and I'm a retired police officer so I've seen some pretty bad stuff lol

after watching the doc I felt so conflicted. Her mother was such a bad person. She tried to kill her step mother and you could say she killed her mother. Do I believe she should have been killed? No. I also don't believe Gyspy should be in prison either.
