Given that Danny has spent several months at a time in self-imposed solitude and silence, at various ashrams and retreats, we thought he’d be the perfect guest to offer advice and insight that can help us through this period of uncertainty. Many of us around the world right now find ourselves in lock-down and are dealing with varying degrees of challenge and change. It's about changing your behaviour or language and trusting that the feelings will follow. As long as your motivation is in the right place, and you stay connected to your truth, acting “as if” can help your goals become your reality. Just make sure you're interested in changing yourself on the inside, not simply trying to change other people's perceptions of you. So instead of “fake it until you make it” we like to say, “be it to become it.” Be the thing you want to be, start running before you can walk, and step into a new way of being and experiencing yourself and your life.
In this episode, Penelope Waller, Stephanie Kasen and Katie Churchman talk about the challenges of working remotely and being part of an international team. As facilitators and coaches at 4D Human Being, they regularly find themselves travelling all over the world for work. However, the 4D team also live in different parts of the world as well, with bases in Milan, London, Charlotte and New York. So a couple of weeks ago, when the trio was running a workshop together in New Jersey, they took the opportunity to record a podcast and speak honestly about the challenges and rewards of working from home, travelling for work and staying connected as an international team.
There are many benefits to moving abroad: you may get to embrace new opportunities, perhaps learn a new language and experience the sights, sounds, traditions and flavours of a very different culture. However, moving abroad also comes with its challenges.In April 2018, Etna International asked 500 expats: ‘has your sense of identity changed since living abroad?’, ‘do you like yourself more?’ as well as other questions related to the psychological impact of settling into a new culture. The survey revealed that 35% of expats surveyed said their sense of identity had changedSo, in this episode Katie Churchman and Penelope Waller discuss the challenges, changes and joys that come from moving abroad.
In this episode we’ve got both of the Waller sisters on the show at the same time talking about relationship patterns. As identical twin sisters Philippa and Penelope Waller  know a lot about understanding the self through relationship. And the truth is that whether we or not we are a twins, in a romantic partnership, or on only child, we are always in relationship. And always have been. We are shaped by the relationships we are in because we do not live in a bubble. We exist within two contexts, the environment and our shared culture. Today’s episode consider how the people in our lives and the relational patterns we form with them are constantly shaping who we are and who we will become. To quote Jacob Moreno, one of the 20th century’s foremost advocates of human interaction defined his fellow human beings as the following: “Man is a relational being.”
