Description

A lot of people associate the phrase “a good talking to” with scary thoughts. Ones that usually involve a manager scorning your poor performance or when your mom finds out you’ve eaten a full pack of biscuits. Thankfully, the new Independent Music News podcast A Good Talking To features neither. Instead, podcast hosts Adam Howes and Stephen Billington will chat to independent artists and bands about everything from terrible music to favourite albums. They might even chuck in a joke or two. Tasty.

A Good Talking To is back again! It's the fourth episode, and this time Steve and Adam had Conor Houston on to chat about his music career so far, and what his plans are for the future. But wait! There's more. They also chatted about his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the stage shows he's been involved with, how variety is the spice of life and the time he met Ozzy Osbourne, amongst other celebrity encounters. It's all good stuff. Enjoy.
A Good Talking To podcast is back. Yes, we’ve been away for a couple of months, but now we return with an interview with Oliver Manning; a singer, songwriter, podcaster and meditator. He also likes red wine, which is a Brucie Bonus. Wow, what an old reference. I apologize profusely. On this episode, we had a good natter about busking, his lyrics, the creative process of making music, The Mayboy LP and much more. Adam also embarrassed himself at the start of the show. It’s worth a listen just to hear that. Enjoy.
Daniel Thomas, the founder of Independent Music News, is a hard man to contact. He's got me blocked on all seven of my Facebook accounts, he refuses to take my calls, and he tells me to "remember the restraining order" every time I approach him in person. But today I, Stephen Billington, demanded answers and tracked him down to his cave in Liverpool. It was a pub called The Cave, but that's not the point. IMN has been making some changes lately; exploring new avenues of creativity and expanding the reach along with it. I sat down with Dan and his lovely beard to discuss this, new podcasts and merchandise, how anyone can become a contributor, his personal journey with the company, and the new Bandcamp subscription that will be on offer soon (and what you get with that). We could have written an article with all this stuff in, but we got lazy. So enjoy this interview instead.
SUE is a lady's name, but did you know it's also the title of a band? You may not have, but you soon will after you listen to our lovely little interview, where we sat down with Elliott Stone, the frontman of the band, who's debut album It Will Never End has just been released. We talk influences, epic track names, the formation of the band, the future, and Adam even tries to coerce Elliott into telling his favourite joke. Spoiler alert, it fell flat on its arse. Either way, we hope this one pleases your ears. If it doesn't, we get whipped with a belt. No pressure, but please review us favourably.
Today’s show features Moses Rockwell; a rap and hip-hop star from Rochester, New York. I’d give you some spiel about him, but I think the podcast best represents him as a musician and a person. He’s a lovely man, and I think I love him. Anyway, without further adieu, here’s the first show.
