We had Tshepo Ntshole - Hall as our guest today to share her life and professional story.
Tshepo is quite a house hold name for many in Botswana because of her career in radio.
She shared her story on how she started as a creative and radio personality which includes her journey in TV production and event management such as the Miss Botswana 2005.
Her creative and eventing work merged when she worked with the now retired O Mag in SA, bringing the first ever O Mag Tea parties to be hosted out of SA.
We touched on how she grew up - and how she was raised. Touched on her as mother and wife.
Her spiritual journey- and how with age, perspective and view of the world changes. We touched on how if your life is aligned with God, if you pay attention, each stage in your life transitions to who you need to be in that season. Sometimes even losing friends and gaining new ones.
Tshepo has since left radio in 2016 - we tapped into her journey post radio.
Her story in Business, the ups and downs of it. How alignment in values in super imperative in Business. The importance of trusting and believing in yourself.
Her crash and burn story - trusting too much in Business.
What a story - of a creative in Business that persevered through it all.

Today on Suero TV I am reviewing a book I read In January 2024. The name of the book is The Legend of the Monk and the Merchant by Terry Felber
A book based on twelve keys to successful living- a book that addresses money and ministry in the market place.
It's a story about a monk and the merchant set in Rome during the Renaissance. The story line is a grandson having his grandfather teach him how to lead a fulfilling successful life. The grandfather is a monk turned successful merchant ( Business man) in Italy.
The Grandfather was into manufacturing Trading beats which were a hit during during the sixteenth century in Italy. In fact this made him very successful but always kept the basics of life to have all rounded success.
He shared business basics that aligned with purpose- touched on value of having a Mentor and Hard Work, Basic money management skills such as budgeting and living below your means.
The book also touched soul prosperity , how trials develop character and taking responsibility of problems that are a result of your own bad decisions.
The book also touched of how lending money destroys relationships -I have discussed each principle in detail and what it meant.
Sharing this wonderful read that gave good perspective to start the year. I hope you enjoy the review.
On this episode Bupelo and I discussed financial planning for 2024.
Bupelo is our resident guest on everything personal finance. She is a certified financial planner and co running her own consulting firm Lima Consulting.
We reflected on the year 2023 - the interest rates being reduced by
25bps to 2.40% Bank of Botswana.- What this means for you and your spending power. Inflation reduced to 3.1 in October 2023 from 3.2 in Sept 2023 within the Central Bank's preferred range of 3%-6%.
VAT being increased back to 14% from 12% and why the govt needs to be doing this. We touched on why prices of goods and services still seem to be high besides the inflation going down.
We touched on household budget, the need emergency funds, debt
management, diversifying your income, life insurance and managing funeral covers. How to manage in these uncomfortable economic times and just get your things in order.
Lastly we also touched on combining incomes as a couple and why it is so imperative for a healthy marriage.

Thato is an insurance and banking specialist, transformational

He started his professional journey at FNBB as a graduate trainee, he was
then promoted to a Business Development Officer and then Manager Sales - Electronic Banking Division.
He then moved Metropolitan to become the Head of Operations for 7 years and then moved to
BOMAID to become Chief
Operations Officer for 3 and half years.
Thato is now at Key Wealth as General
Manager - Training and Wellness.
Thato is also a family man with a
wife and two kids- believes in a good balance in family time, hard work pursuing
your passions and hobbies. He has a passion for running and golf.
With all his accolades, excellent and
successful professional journey, if you know Thato you would know how passionate he is about Financial Literacy. He preaches and lives it.
We brought him in to speak more about
it in the most practical way.

Presently, Lorato Edith Boakgomo-Ntakhwana is Managing Director of Gravitas Investment t/a Sally Dairy and an Independent Non-Executive Chairman at Botswana Telecommunications Corp.
She also serves as Chairperson of LEA and a non Executive of Metropolitan. In her past career she held the position of Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director at First National Bank of Botswana Ltd. and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at FNB International.
She received an MBA from Loyola University Maryland, Inc. and an undergraduate degree from the University of Botswana.
Lorato and I were having a conversation about leadership. I was a picking her brain on her leadership skills and how she does it.
We discussed the important values she demonstrates as a leader and her greatest strengths.
We also discussed failure as a leader how can one handle it.
We also touched on the challenges that many leaders are facing in leading in a pandemic.
Leading the latest generation as our future leaders is another challenge that Lorato and I touched on and the best way to handle.
How she gets a team to buy into an organization’s vision is what Lorato also shared.

Retirement Planning – Why should you have a Pension Plan?

Creating your in case of death file is a serious process. So you want to start by planning first. Being as organized as possible during the process — especially at the beginning — can help, as it will likely take a few weeks to gather.

Today I brought Thato Kgasa from Bifm back, to speak on how businesses can save for a rainy day or even invest to grow the value of their businesses.
The one thing I always talk to my SME clients on is having at least a 6-12 months emergency fund savings for rainy days to cover fixed costs such as salaries and rent on days when payments from clients are delayed or there is no cash inflow for whatever reason. One thing about running a business is that rainy days occur more often than not. Now that COVID19 hit, most businesses were hit had because there were no emergency fund savings for rainy days.
We spoke on the how you can save and how much to put aside.
Emergency Fund Savings is not only for Personal Finances but for Business Finances too.
We also spoke on how a business can invest a part of their revenue for different reasons, such as raising a deposit for business growth.
