2020-08-0601:53:15

After a long seven year wait we've finally got our hands on one of the most anticipated game sequels of all-time - the follow up to 2013's smash hit survival game, The Last of Us. The game sees us catch up with Joel and Ellie some 4 or 5 years after the events of the first game still navigating a world plagued by infected people but now with the added danger of further groups of survivors threatening their way of life. Along with those familiar faces we now have some new characters including Dina, Jesse and a new main antogonist called Abby. Join us as we dissect one of the best games of the year and of this entire gaming generation in our longest ever episode. Of course it goes without saying that this episode will contain SPOILERS so please get yourself comfy, listen and then hit up our Twitter page to let us know what you think about the game, your favourite moments, any gripes you may have and all that good stuff!
PS5 Reveal

PS5 Reveal

We now finally have our first official look at the PlayStation 5 along with a good selection of games to be released over the first 12-18 months too. There's a bit of something for everyone, from children to lifelong gamers like us, plus a couple of really standout titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the long awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn titled Horizon Forbidden West. We've also managed to sneak in a quick preview of The Last of Us: Part II which is released today so it's a good time for us to flex out gaming muscle and hopefully you'll enjoy what we've got to say. Why not head over to our Twitter and let us know what you think - what games are you looking forward to? Will you be going all-digital for this generation? Are you still holding out hope that Xbox can blow this out of the water?
Ever since the quite indifferent response to it's release in 2017, Justice League has been plagued by one question... WHERE IS THE SNYDER CUT?? The fabled version lauded by original director, Zack Snyder, who unfortunately had to leave the project due to a family emergency and many fans on various social media platforms since Zack himself has spent a lot of time telling people what his version contained, what was cut from the cinematic release and how much better his version would have been. This has led to a very toxic surge of fans - especially on Twitter - led by Zack himself pushing the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag for years in order to pressure Warner Bros/DC into releasing this version. Well that time has come as HBO have confirmed that in 2021 they will be screening this version. Now renamed as "Zack Snyder's Justice League", it's set to be screened a 4 hour miniseries rather than an actual film and they're putting up to $30M in to complete the editing... even though Zack has stated many times that the film was completely finished. Hmmmm. Well with this being such a huge talking area in our arena we had to talk about this didn't we? Not just the release itself but the movement behind it and the possibily ramifications going forward. Is this a good step for loyal fans or a really bad step for entitled people who aren't getting exactly what they want?
The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian

2020-05-0801:28:54

"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the  First Order. The series depicts a lone bounty hunter in the outer  reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic." The Mandalorian has been a huge draw so far for Disney+ - the new Disney-owned streaming service where you can find all your Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar and National Geographic content in one place - and as Star Wars fans it's our duty to talk about the show now the final episode has been aired in the UK. With a star-studded cast, a new adorable alien and a wise-cracking droid this ticks all the boxes on paper for a Star Wars smash but does it live up to the hype? Come with us while we explore the series. This is the way.
Tiger King

Tiger King

2020-04-2501:04:29

The latest in a long line of binge-worthy documentaries from Netflix takes us all the way to Oklahoma to follow the exploits of Joe Maldonado-Passge, aka, Joe Exotic - the self proclaimed Tiger King. What starts off as a light hearted look at his big cat zoo turns into a bitter feud with Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist with a similar love for big cats but a few skeletons in her closet (and septic tank...) too. The show has it all - drama, maiming, fires, attempted murder, alleged murder and a whole cast of very colourful characters to grip your attention and get you talking. Come hear our thoughts and let us know what you think over on Twitter when you've finished.
When Sam Raimi released his first Spider-Man film in 2002 nobody could ever have imagined that it would be the beginning of an entirely new genre of films which would make billions each year. With Tobey Maguire in the titular role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as his longterm love interest, Mary-Jane Watson, the trilogy exploded onto the big screen and took $2.5bn in the space of 5-6 years. Willem Defoe portrayed the villainous Green Goblin in the first film while the second gave us Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus which is wildely revered as one of the best villain portrayals of all-time but the less said about the villains in the third film the better. Join us as we take a web-sling down memory lane and let us know your thoughts over on Twitter.
The Batman

The Batman

Well it finally happened - after a short break we're baaaaaack! We're calling this the first episode of season two of Famous Last Nerds and we're starting off with a look-ahead to The Batman, Matt Reeves crime-noir take on one of the most beloved comic characters of all time with Robert Pattinson the latest man to take on the iconic cowl. Featuring an all-star cast and showing Batman during his earlier years this is set to be a fresh new take on a character we've seen so much on both the large and small screens. Let us know what you think over on our Twitter page - are you looking forward to the film? What do you think of the all-star cast? Are there any characters not in this film you'd like to see in a possible sequel?
Star Wars Episode IX has finally landed and so the fabled "Skywalker Saga" - which started with Episode IV: A New Hope in 1977 - finally comes to an end. We've seen three different trilogies, a huge cast from all backgrounds and some of the most beloved, wacky droids and aliens that have ever graced our screens so it seems only fitting that we give our take on this film, cover the best (and worst) bits while we say goodbye to Star Wars on the big screen for now.

Joker

Joker

For our first episode under our new name we're going to look at Joker - starring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips, this non-canon psychological thriller follows the life of Arthur Fleck, a struggling comedian desperately clinging on to his sanity while the world around him crumbles and beats him down. As his grip on reality fades a dark new persona arises - one he seems all too comfortable with. The film is tipped by many as an early contender for several Oscar awards too and by releasing it under the "DC Dark Label" umbrella, Warner Bros have managed to give themselves some breathing room for those expecting a swift Batman cameo.

With Alisson Brie (most famous for her role as Annie on Community) leading a star-studded ensemble cast this look at the women's wrestling movement in North America during the 1980s is based on a real wrestling organisation and it's trials and tribulations along the way. Definitely one to watch if like us you grew up watching wrestling.
Spider-Man Reaction

Spider-Man Reaction

2019-08-2236:59

So it looks like Marvel and Sony have had a little falling out over the terms of the new Spider-Man sharing arrangement and the major casualty of this is ol' webhead himself! As it stands right now Spider-Man will not appear in the MCU or any other films produced by Disney - only films made and produced by Sony. Will things change in the future? More than likely - why ruin a perfectly good thing - but until then we'll talk about the possible impact this has on both companies, where we go from here and our thoughts on the whole thing. Come join us!
The Boys (Season 1)

The Boys (Season 1)

2019-08-1001:11:12

The Boys is Amazon Prime's dark and gritty look at the world of corporate superheroes based on a comicbook by Garth Ennis who is known for putting a violent, unforgiving tone of comics for both Marvel and DC in the past. The show follows the adventures of "The Seven" - a gang of world famous superheroes backed by a global conglomerate, Vought International - and many other heroes who all view membership as the pinnacle of their superhero career.  We'll also be answering a few questions we've had on Twitter and going into more detail about our upcoming rebrand including unveiling our new name!

The finest program produced by Netflix is back for it's much-anticipated third season and it's broken records in a matter of days. 40M+ households started the show and 18M+ completed it within the first three days of release. That should go someway to showing how popular this show is as we travel once again to Hawkins, Indiana to follow El, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and the rest of our new friends to see what horror sci-fi shenanigans they're up to this time.
