Powerful Storm Over Northeast U.S.; Fire Weather Concerns In Southern California - A powerful low pressure system will linger across the Northeastern U.S. on Tuesday. Gusty winds will be common from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to the Eastern Seaboard, while heavy snow will impact areas of northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania and southwestern New York. Unsettled Weather in the East; Elevated Fire Weather Conditions for Southern California - An area of low pressure moving through the Appalachians will bring moderate to heavy rainfall, strong to severe thunderstorms, and snow for much of the eastern U.S. through Tuesday. In the wake of the system, some areas in the South may see temperatures exceed 20 degrees below average. Central U.S. Storm; Elevated Fire Weather for Southern California - A storm will bring isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms across the central Plains into the Midwest before strengthening while shifting Northeast Sunday where snow and ice is possible from the Great Lakes into interior New England on the leading edge of the storm. Flooding Continues in the Southeast; Above Average Temperatures from the Plains to the East Coast - Widespread significant flooding is ongoing across portions of the Carolinas and Virginia from Eta. Some locations along main stem rivers will remain in flood well into next week, as routed water makes its way across the coastal plains. Unsettled Weather in the Northwest; Fire Weather Conditions in the Plains into the Ohio Valley - Unsettled weather will persist through today in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies. Mixed precipitation is expected in the Northern Plains. Blustery conditions in the southern and central Plains into the Ohio Valley will bring fire weather risks to the regions. Eta Shifting Offshore; Series of Pacific Storms to Impact the West -  The center of Eta will pass just offshore of the coast of South and North Carolina through Friday morning. Widespread minor to moderate and scattered major river flooding is occurring in the wake of Eta. Eta Impacting Florida Again; Flooding Possible across Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic - Tropical Storm Eta is forecast to move inland over the northern portion of the Florida peninsula on Thursday. Tropical Storm Eta to Impact West Coast of Florida; Flooding Possible Appalachians to Mid-Atlantic - Eta will move close to but offshore of the southwest coast of Florida Wednesday and move inland over the northern portion of the Florida peninsula on Thursday. Eta will bring Tropical-storm-force winds, Life-threatening storm surge and heavy rainfall with a potential for flooding. Eta Over the Southeast Gulf; Snow and Ice for Upper Midwest - Eta will slowly shift north across the eastern Gulf of Mexico through much of the rest of this week. Eta could approach the Florida Gulf Coast later this week as a tropical storm, and possibly bring impacts from rain, wind, and storm surge.
