We’re a shithole country because we pay off Breonna Taylor’s family but don’t give us actual justice, because Russia and China are deciding who our next leader will be, because hundreds of thousands are dead and yet thousands are chanting no more masks because Trump told them it’s a hoax. We’re a shithole country. Thanks GOP. #Democracyish. Vote or Die

Vote or Die

2020-09-1041:30

Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize while he knew that Covid was real and could kill thousands and decided that the best course was… to do nothing. Can’t believe that sentence is real. America is a third world country. Vote or die. Democracyish. There’s so much to be sad about. The death of Chadwick Boseman. The murdering of Kyle Rittenhouse. The impending destruction of American democracy. We had a great run but if this is the final season of America, this country is going out with a bang. Democracy-ish. DNC Keeps It Real

Kamala: Unbossed

2020-08-1349:27

Kamala! Kamala! Kamala! We at Democracyish are emotional at seeing a Black woman, and this Black woman, ascend to the VP slot. This week it’s all about Kamala and our feelings and Shirley Chisholm and all the women who make up the spine of the Dem party and the Black community and America. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Will Biden pick a Black VP? He better. We think the choice is really which one he’ll pick: Kamala or Karen or Susan or Val. We’ll go through who we like, who we don’t like, and which potential choice makes Touré go through the roof. But we feel certain that Biden will pick a Black woman. Fingers crossed. Democracyish. Nightmare In Portland

2020-07-2350:51

Nightmare In Portland. Trump’s secretive military police—stormtrumpers—are attacking and kidnapping peaceful citizens in Portland. They will soon be in Chicago, Detroit, NY and elsewhere. This is fascism and it is extremely frightening. Danielle and Touré are scared out of our minds and you should be, too. Kanye Won't Save Trump

2020-07-1633:17

Kanye has exited the presidential race as quickly as he entered it. As if 2020 could get any crazier. Is Kanye the first or last in a string of would-be third party candidates? Will America still be entangled with this type of foolishness in... August? Is voting a third party candidate even acceptable in a world where one of the candidates is an existential threat to Black, brown and queer lives? Danielle and Touré discuss on democracyish. Reparations Now

Reparations Now

2020-07-0237:42

The racial wealth gap has not changed since the 1950s. The federal government has been helping white people build wealth and damaging Black people’s ability to create wealth for decades. The time for reparations is now. Inspired by Nikole Hannah-Jones’s NYT piece about reparations, Danielle and Toure make the case. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Associate Producer: Andrew Marshello Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Danielle and Toure debate whether it’s time to abandon America or time to stand up and work to make America great for once. #Democracyish. Trump's A Jackass

Trump's A Jackass

2020-06-1842:231

Democracyish with guest David Frum on the meaning of Trump and the meaning of the Rayshard Brooks case. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment    See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Danielle and Toure explain. Democracyish. As the country continues falling apart, protesters are everywhere, fighting symbolically for their ideals and too often finding themselves in literal fights with police. This week we talk about protesting hell with two people who were peacefully protesting when they got attacked by police. Democracyish. We unpack the lies and address the pain. Democracyish. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In a world where 57% of white men support Trump and 57% of everyone else is against him you have to wonder what’s the matter with wypipo? Especially white men. Danielle and Toure talk to Jonathan Metzl the author of Dying Of Whiteness about what’s going on with white people. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Trump and the right decided it was time to go back to work—who cares how many die—as soon as they realized that many of those dying from Coronavirus are Black and brown. This is no coincidence. This is part of the racial contract that has been a part of America since the beginning. To explore the racial aspect of the back to work movement, Danielle and Toure are joined by Adam Serwer from the Atlantic. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The rage is real because the video of Ahmaud Arbery’s murder is traumatizing. The rage is real because that video is just one of many we all can see on our mind’s screen at any time because they’re burned into our memory banks from Tamir Rice to Sandra Bland to Philando Castile to Eric Garner. And they all tap into the pain of seeing the horrifying final photo of Emmet Till. And the lynching photos. And on and on. Why do we watch these videos? And what’s it doing to us to have them inside us? Danielle and Toure dig in today on Democracyish. Yeah ok done and unsubscribing. STACEY ABRAMS?! The woman who thinks "FAIR fight" is the one where Bloomberg pays? I've said goodbye to Pod Save America for this main stream bs, why would this be different. Clear your minds, guys. #NeverBloomberg and those who he bought, yeah I know, that's a large army. #boycottMSM.

I'm having a hard time listening to this, more and more ongoing. Check out independent media for actual facts on Warren flipping on various issues, on and on. People SEE THAT. it's NOT about her gender. You've got to stop watching msnbc and spreading msm bs further. I'm getting wokeaf from your wokeaf... :(

Not sure how Toure can make a claim for Sherrod Brown being from Ohio but not Nina Turner. Also, Biden was Obama's VP to bring Foreign Policy experience to the ticket and Pence was brought on to get the white Evangelicals.

"it could have been you" is generally applicable to all humans able or not able to find compassion for others. Not just % of certain gender and color. How sad we can't all feel it could've been us any time a black person is murdered by a cop, or a child is placed into a cage, or a kurd is kicked out of the land their family lives on, or someone becomes homeless or.... It can always be any of us, friends.

Hello, I just found out about this podcast and I'm glad its here because it's good for youger black people to have a voice in politics 😁 I want to ask you how you feel about Andrew Yang? I've been watching a ton of his interviews and I am now a supporter. I left the democratic party and became an Independent for now until its time to vote again, since I live in Maryland. Also, why is it that it's starting to feel like 2016 when Hillary Clinton was shove down our throats. I was a Bernie Sanders supporter back then in the primary's but later voted for Hillary to win even though I knew she would lose. Just so you know, I'm a 40 year old black woman working as a city letter carrier born and raised in D.C. and a long time fan since MTV. ✌🏾💜💪🏾
