In a world where 57% of white men support Trump and 57% of everyone else is against him you have to wonder what’s the matter with wypipo? Especially white men. Danielle and Toure talk to Jonathan Metzl the author of Dying Of Whiteness about what’s going on with white people. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Trump and the right decided it was time to go back to work—who cares how many die—as soon as they realized that many of those dying from Coronavirus are Black and brown. This is no coincidence. This is part of the racial contract that has been a part of America since the beginning. To explore the racial aspect of the back to work movement, Danielle and Toure are joined by Adam Serwer from the Atlantic. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The rage is real because the video of Ahmaud Arbery’s murder is traumatizing. The rage is real because that video is just one of many we all can see on our mind’s screen at any time because they’re burned into our memory banks from Tamir Rice to Sandra Bland to Philando Castile to Eric Garner. And they all tap into the pain of seeing the horrifying final photo of Emmet Till. And the lynching photos. And on and on. Why do we watch these videos? And what’s it doing to us to have them inside us? Danielle and Toure dig in today on Democracyish. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
What Black Voters Need

What Black Voters Need

2020-04-3036:07

What do Black voters need? What should Black voters demand from Biden or anyone who wants their vote right now? Can we be bought for the price of a Black VP or is there more we can demand? Can we talk about policies aimed at Black communities? More COVID testing in Black areas and more SBA loans for Black businesses? What about an end to the War On Drugs? Also… we finally talk through #BlackAF. Danielle and Toure are Democracyish. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Tis the season for pontificating about VPs. Who will Biden pick? Stacey? Kamala? Warren? And who should Biden pick? Will he remember that Black people got him to the place where he is or will he try to appease the Midwestern suburbs (read: wypipo)? And it’s fun but does it all matter? Will the VP choice even make the difference??? Danielle and Toure are exhausted by you America. Democracyish. Repubs: Go Lick A Pole

Repubs: Go Lick A Pole

2020-04-1644:07

Corona trutherism is rampant on the right. They doubt how many people it’s killed. They protest against staying at home. They want to fire Fauci. They are a mess. The right’s impulse to doubt media, experts, and truth is now endangering lives. Plus what’s the matter with Kanye??? Democracyish. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
All over the country Black people are catching and dying from Coronavirus at frighteningly high rates. The virus isn’t racist but the generational impact of systemic racism has left us more vulnerable. Danielle and Toure talk about the reasons why Coronavirus is striking Black people more and also say goodbye to Bernie this week on Democracyish. Where’s The BDE?

Where’s The BDE?

2020-04-0246:59

Trump is triggering us like crazy. We’re angry, we’re scared, we’re over his bullsh*t. The man wanted to “ride it out”—he asked what would happen if he did nothing about Corona. Jesus. We can’t. And Biden’s troubling. And Cuomo’s thrilling. Politics are giving us all the emotions this week on Democracyish. Make America Safe Again

Make America Safe Again

2020-03-1940:061

The world feels like it’s coming to an end. Might as well record one last pod. We’re scared, sad, angry, and feeling like we’re in a bunker hiding from the end. Democracy-ish: we’re scared out of our minds. Have a nice day. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Andrew Marshello Associate Producer: Ryan Woodhall Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Joe Biden appears to be the nominee. Black voters stood up and went for Joe in big numbers because he’s safe, and he’s decent, and he stood by Barack Obama for eight years. And because Bernie Sanders never did anything to overtly woo Black voters. Democracy-ish weighs in on the state of the race, still wondering why Joe Biden has a standing invite to the cookout. Hosts: Danielle Moodie & Touré Guest Host: Dr. Christina Greer Executive Producer: Adell Coleman Producer: Andrew Marshello Distributor: DCP Entertainment  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Brandaun Dean is an extraordinary person. He was the youngest Black Mayor in America, of a small city in Alabama, now he’s running for Senate in Pennsylvania. He’s also homeless. He’s also a dogged advocate for reparations. We were so impressed with him as a person we wanted to introduce him to you as someone to look out for. Bernie and the S-Word

Bernie and the S-Word

2020-02-2734:39

Bernie has moved into the lead and Bloomie has fallen flat on his face but there’s still much to argue about: who should drop out? Is anyone thinking about the good of the party? Does it matter who Bernie’s VP choice is? And how could reefer for everyone possibly be a bad thing??? Democracy-ish is en fuego once again. Your anger for white supremacy is real and yes, absolutely. But you screamed all along you wanted Joe, Joe is safety, you only want to beat trump. So? You got what you wanted - Joe. The racist, the rapist, the mentally declined Joe. Victory?!, The ironies of life with now you have demands? U organizing a movement to achieve that? Ha. Stop confusing voters..but hey, it's too late for that too, "wokeaf" lol

Yeah ok done and unsubscribing. STACEY ABRAMS?! The woman who thinks "FAIR fight" is the one where Bloomberg pays? I've said goodbye to Pod Save America for this main stream bs, why would this be different. Clear your minds, guys. #NeverBloomberg and those who he bought, yeah I know, that's a large army. #boycottMSM.

I'm having a hard time listening to this, more and more ongoing. Check out independent media for actual facts on Warren flipping on various issues, on and on. People SEE THAT. it's NOT about her gender. You've got to stop watching msnbc and spreading msm bs further. I'm getting wokeaf from your wokeaf... :(

Not sure how Toure can make a claim for Sherrod Brown being from Ohio but not Nina Turner. Also, Biden was Obama's VP to bring Foreign Policy experience to the ticket and Pence was brought on to get the white Evangelicals.

"it could have been you" is generally applicable to all humans able or not able to find compassion for others. Not just % of certain gender and color. How sad we can't all feel it could've been us any time a black person is murdered by a cop, or a child is placed into a cage, or a kurd is kicked out of the land their family lives on, or someone becomes homeless or.... It can always be any of us, friends.

Hello, I just found out about this podcast and I'm glad its here because it's good for youger black people to have a voice in politics 😁 I want to ask you how you feel about Andrew Yang? I've been watching a ton of his interviews and I am now a supporter. I left the democratic party and became an Independent for now until its time to vote again, since I live in Maryland. Also, why is it that it's starting to feel like 2016 when Hillary Clinton was shove down our throats. I was a Bernie Sanders supporter back then in the primary's but later voted for Hillary to win even though I knew she would lose. Just so you know, I'm a 40 year old black woman working as a city letter carrier born and raised in D.C. and a long time fan since MTV. ✌🏾💜💪🏾
