This was one of my favorite interviews ever. Ann was incredibly fun to hang out with. She was also in my top 5 marketers in my "interview bucket list."During this interview we got personal and talked about how Ann got started in writing, how she connects with her audience and what she does to slow down. I have an emotional connection with Ann's book 'Everybody Writes.' We talked about my mom, her struggle with cancer and how the words of a professor telling her that she couldn't write deeply affected her and they became the deciding factor on her dropping out of college. Ann shares how this professor was dead wrong, and that everyone CAN write and she covered some of the basics that you can work on to become a better writer. On this show we also cover what Ann is most passionate about in marketing, what marketing trends she would kill, what she would do if she had to start over from absolute scratch, and how slowing down and being strategic with your content is going to be key for business success. Everybody knows entrepreneurship is hard - you are guaranteed to go through the highs and the lows. On this episode of TAG! We talk with Corey Patrick of the Youngstown Business Incubator. Corey talks about how when your business is at your “lows” it’s their job to keep you going forward and keep pushing you because when you push through that’s when you hit that next breakthrough. The Youngstown Business incubator is definitely a unique incubator. They focus on growing businesses not just in Youngstown Ohio but all over the world. They offer help to any entrepreneur - no matter where they are located. In fact one of their mottos is “You can have an effective and successful start up company anywhere in the world - no one cares where it’s located.”Some of their clients include tech/software companies, 3D Printing Companies, Consumer Packaged Goods, Lifestyle Businesses as well as businesses founded by minorities and women. They are INCREDIBLY good at helping entrepreneurs grow by providing them resources, helping them with funding and getting them connected to the right people and businesses that will help them flourish. Corey shares about some of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs face. For most it’s funding. Corey says it has gotten better over the years for sure due to different opportunities for funding that are out there now, but there is always a demand for more. He also shares that most businesses fail because they are not willing to pivot or they are not coachable, or perhaps they lose interest over time because the business isn’t paying the bills or they are frustrated because they didn’t become an overnight success. On this show Corey offers advice and tips on how a new business can bring themselves to market more effectively. He also walks through how to do proper roadmapping and market research for your business as well. He also shares about how important a brand is and how a brand can make or kill a startup sometimes. If you are an entrepreneur and you are trying to grow your business - You DEFINITELY want to work with Corey and the YBI. https://www.linkedin.com/in/coreypatrick/https://ybi.org/Twitter : https://twitter.com/ybitweetsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/youngstownbusinessincubator/Fb - https://www.facebook.com/ybincubatorBlog that Corey Recommends: Social Media Today: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/Book that Corey Recommends:Traction: How Any Startup Can Achieve Explosive Customer Growthhttps://amzn.to/2QsS4HV

"If you don’t understand your competition and who you’re facing - you’re kidding yourself.”This affects your pricing strategy, what features and benefits you’re offering and your go to marketing strategy. The competitive analysis isn’t just to check a box. It is to affect your future plan, and it affects the speed of your innovation. If you have a fast competitor you better be faster. Jeff shares how to properly roadmap your company to success by knowing your competition, your strengths, your weaknesses and he walks through how to aligning your segmentation, targeting and positioning for your business.Metisentry is knows as “The SaaS Factory” and they have helped dozens of SaaS companies find success. Jeff outlines that one of the biggest challenges in marketing a tech company is just understanding where you are best able to serve. Targeting and segmentation are crucial in your marketing efforts.“When problem solving for a client, do it with their end in mind instead of your own, If we aren’t a fit, we aren’t saving anybody any time or creating any value, its important to be honest with yourself and say Here’s where we fit and here’s where we don’t”.Be able to say NO to businesses because you may not be their best solution, but when you are, it won’t be overselling yourself and it will be a natural fit. This is a great episode and one of my favorite quotes from it was: “If you promise the world to your customer and don't deliver on it, that’s what they will remember.”

I had a great time interviewing the leader of “The Sales Rebellion - Dale Dupree” Dale has such a refreshing take on sales, it was like a breath of fresh air. He is challenging salespeople all over the world to ditch the hard pitches, the swarm conversation, and their egos. Dale seeks to shape the future of sales, to bring empathy, compassion, and integrity back to the forefront. He encourages salespeople to adopt the principles of servant leadership and to build their community, brick by brick. You can tell during this conversation that Dale truly cares about everyone he talks to and it’s NOT just about the pitch. He shares how having true empathy can actually radically transform the success of your sales, but more importantly the success of the legacy that you are leaving behind. Dale gets real on this episode about the loss of his father, and how his father’s character and true compassion for others shaped him into the man that he is today. Each year, brands spend over $600 billion (and counting) to convince us to buy their products. Yet, as consumers, we have become insensitive to most advertising. Brands that succeed are the ones that help us find meaning. In this process, the brands became meaningful in and of themselves. On this episode Emmanuel Probst - Author of the book “Brand Hacks” shares how your brand can develop true meaning in the eyes of the customer and how you can develop an emotional connection with them. Connecting emotionally with your customers is incredibly important because emotion drives loyalty.

Want to know how to use personalized account-based marketing (ABM) to win new clients as well as protect and expand existing accounts? On this podcast, we interviewed Kristina Jaramillo and Eric Gruber of Personal ABM.

They share their story of how they shifted away from a content management agency into an AMB agency by creating their company ‘Personal ABM’. They share how they moved from “One-To-Many” marketing to a much more personalized form of marketing because while One-To-Many might drive awareness, it’s too impersonal to move hearts and minds.Kristina and Eric both work with supply chain & tech marketers to add a personal account layer that enables them to influence revenue with new business & account expansion.  By shifting profiles, content, and messaging for specific accounts and conversations related to account-specific gaps and impacts, they have helped their clients have reversed “no” positions. They have created a turnaround for accounts like P&G that were provided notice that their commitment with a distributor would most likely end and that the business would most likely go to a national competitor. They have also created $2M sales cycles for a client with accounts that were unresponsive for 5+ years. On this episode, they share personal account-based approaches that help to align sales, marketing, and customer experience teams and drive million-dollar wins for their clients.
Give exceptional value. Enjoy extraordinary results. On this episode, we had the distinct honor of interviewing Bob Burg, the co-author of the ‘Go-Giver’ series of books. This was a great episode full of great insights from Bob. I promise you, if you were to apply these insights to your personal life and your business, you will see dramatic results.Bob also shares the five laws that will bring you both personal effectiveness and professional success. He also outlines how selling is not just about the “how-to” but it’s really about growing as a person inside and out. He shares how true growth then manifests itself as success on the outside. He also shares how great salesmanship is never about the salesman or about making the sale. He suggests shifting the focus from “making money” onto serving your client, and once you make this shift, dramatic success will follow. This was a great episode, and I’ve personally applied these principles to my personal life and business and can absolutely tell you that they work.

3 Core Pillars That Will Maximize Your Social Media This episode is 🔥. Pure 🔥. I highly recommend. Adam Brown is the founder of Sircle Media in NYC and they are definitely on the cutting edge of social media marketing.Sircle is an amazing agency and they fantastic work for their clients. Their social channel is proof of this. As an agency they have decided to focus more on marketing their clients than marketing themselves. They put their clients and their corporate culture ahead of any kind of shameless plugs (that most other agencies make). And because of this successful strategy, they have clients who have been with them for a LONG time and they have cultivated very happy customers. At Sircle they believe in a 3 pillar approach to social media management. ContentEngagementGrowthAdam walks through tactics and suggestions for each of these three pillars and explains how your brand can leverage them to their maximum potential. He also explains that business strategy should always drive social strategy- not the other way around.Whatever the business objectives are - you layer in social on top of it, when you do that, and you continue to do that consistently, thats when you have success. He lets us know what brands usually get wrong with social media - They underinvest financially and emotionally in social media, most companies look at it as a nice-to-have or a luxury rather than a must-have. Most brands shrink back on social when times get tight. When times are tough it’s not the time to let off the gas. Most brands are also very siloed, they are either all content (art, video, photos post) or all engagement or all metrics (ROI’s), and not always a good balance of all 3.Adam wishes more people/brands knew that in social media, followers are NOT the metric you should be looking at. Instead Look at cost per thousand REACHED *not cost per thousand impressions*. He also advises to measure your engagement because it is the gold 💰 in the hills of social media - most brands don’t work this like they should. A lot of brands leave “money on the table” when they don’t invest time into engagement. You can connect with Adam Brown here: https://sircle.me/https://www.instagram.com/sirclemedia/https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamjbrown23/https://twitter.com/SircleMediahttps://www.facebook.com/SircleMedia
