This is the first episode of 2022, and I know that many of you have already broken at least one resolution if you are even still making those. But I have a suggestion for one that is EASY to do, and will make a big difference in the daily lives of all of us here in Holly Springs. I want you to stop leaving your car idling when you’re waiting in car lines. That’s it. Now this idea isn’t mine, it’s the aim of a group here in town called Clean Air Holly Springs. I spoke to their co-founders Rachel Woods and Kristina Natt och Dag. They’re focused on helping us get more air quality days in the “green” category and fewer in the “yellow” and “red” classifications. Before we get started, If you’re enjoying this podcast, consider becoming a supporter by clicking the Patreon link on my website hollyspringsdeepdive.com. Here we are, in the month leading up to election day 2021 in Holly Springs. In this episode, you’ll hear from Timothy Forrest, who was the very first candidate to reach out to me for his interview - this interview was done all the way back in July, so when you hear us talk about his website just going live, know that this happened back when I hadn’t decided yet that all of these episodes really needed to be released on the same day. So here we are. Welcome to the Holly Springs Deep Dive Podcast! Here we are, in the month leading up to election day 2021 in Holly Springs. I’m releasing ALL FIVE town council candidates’ episodes on the same day - that way no one gets to make the first impression OR has the last word. No candidate heard another candidate’s interview before they had their own. This is as fair as I know how to be.Tim Forrest’s interview was recorded in July, and the other four were in recent weeks. Each candidate is different and you’ll hear what I mean. The show notes for each candidate include all of the campaign pages I could find as well as a link to their campaign finance reports. Looking into those reports may be interesting to you.Your last day to register to vote in this election is October 8, which is Friday, at 5 p.m. Early voting starts on Thursday Oct. 14 through Sat. Oct. 30.  Election Day is Tuesday, November 2. You can vote for THREE OF THESE CANDIDATES.Check your registration, verify your polling place, and view your sample ballot here. You have everything you need, Holly Springs. Now let’s turn out and vote.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/hollyspringsdeepdive )
Election day in Holly Springs is right around the corner, and one of the best ways to get to know the candidates running for office (besides this podcast, of course!) is to attend the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce Candidates Forum, produced in partnership with the Town of Holly Springs. This episode features the Chamber's Chairwoman, my friend Tonya Palumbo. We talked about how the event is set up, a couple of hiccups that happened during the planning for this year's Forum, how YOU can submit questions for the candidates, about the new moderator, and why it's SO VERY important to pay attention to the candidates and vote. Before we get started, If you’re enjoying this podcast, consider becoming a supporter by clicking the Patreon link on my website. I know I did when I first heard about her plans for closing.
