We will not be talking about photoshop, illustrator, or any complicated software that will take you months to get comfortable with. The tools we suggest are:CanvaWordswagKeynote or PowerpointIf you're a small business owner and you don't have a marketing department, these will help you massively with your graphics for your social media. In addition to the podcast, we have a run-through on YouTube where you are able to see these platforms and how they work. Today’s episode is all about engagement security. Making sure we are secure when being online is so important, especially when more people than ever are working from home.I'm joined by Kathleen Booth, the VP of Marketing at clean.io, the market leader in digital engagement security solutions. They are used by businesses looking to optimize their revenue and buyer experience by taking back control over third-party code on their websites. Before joining clean.io, she spent 13 years in the digital marketing agency world, first as Owner and CEO of Quintain Marketing and then as VP of Marketing at IMPACT.Kathleen is the host of the long-running Inbound Success Podcast and was named by TopRank as one of the 50 Top B2B Marketing Influencers of 2019.We talk about the fact that as marketers we're not taught about cybersecurity. We need to be aware of the issues and the risks that are associated with an online presence. A safer social experience can be provided through websites as there is more control over this platform.Social Media can suffer from the same vulnerabilities but more so since we don't have control over these platforms. An example is you don't have control of a platform getting hacked, but you can implement 2 Factor Authentication. These are just the basics. One of the risks we can encounter is social engineering, a malicious activity designed to trick people online into giving away sensitive information such as passwords. There are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself such as cybersecurity training and implementing policies internally.I hope you all stay safe. Today’s episode is all about formatting graphic posts for social media. With a wide range of social platforms, keeping up with the formats can be a challenge.Understanding the platform your target audience are using will provide a better social experience. Each platform has many features, new ways to post, share and create content. All of these can be leveraged by repurposing content to other formats and platforms.Once you know what platform you’re going to use, you can then start to focus on the content. How you format graphics is different for each platform. This means that the format you post on one platform may not be suitable for another. Here’s a quick cheat sheet to help you out.A quick win, when you don’t have a lot of time to create multiple variations of one image, is to use square graphics. This format works on pretty much all the platforms. It’s a quick win if you haven’t got the time to create multiple versions of the same graphics.Stay safe and enjoy the episode. Today’s episode is all about effective communication. There are more people online than ever before and it’s now essential to be an effective communicator when we’re using social media.I’m joined by Dr. Amelia Reigstad, a specialist in public relations and communications. Amelia is a university faculty member and also an effective communication consultant and coach. Working with organisations, she teaches them how to communicate effectively in the workplace. We take it for granted when posting on social media, or sending emails, or even when we’re writing that new blog post. We all communicate in the same way, right? Well, wrong! We all have different ways of being understood, and understanding too.So, ask yourself this question. How effective a communicator are you?I hope you all stay safe. Enjoy the episode!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about content marketing. In 2021, it's safe to say that we all need to create a lot of content to keep those marketing channels moving in the right direction. From blogs to social media, there's a lot to do. That's where Lyndsay Philips, President of Smooth Sailing Business Growth comes in to play. Having started as. VA, looking to find the right balance between working and family life, Lyndsay quickly saw the potential to help her clients when it came to their content marketing. Today, 10 years later, she's leading a team of awesome creatives, who's goal is to make their clients look good online and get results long the way. We're talking a little about the challenges we all face with content marketing today, and one of the biggest is how to keep up with all the new platforms, and types of content you need to be creating. Suffice to say, we're all facing that challenge. No matter where you currently are with your content marketing, check out the episode. It feels good to be back after our short couple of week's break, and thanks to everyone for the kind messages along the way. We're BACK! I hope you all stay safe. Today's episode is a little bit different. Yep, "again?" I hear you say. But it really is. You've probably noticed a bit of disruption to the podcast recently. Fewer episodes going live, not our usual cadence of 2 episodes per week, and maybe even I've been sounding a little under the weather for lack of a better description. Well, all of that comes down to feeling pretty much fed up with the current situation. Lockdown here in the UK is now well into week 9 (I think - I can't even remember) and along the way, it's become harder and harder to stay energised, to look after myself and continue to produce more and more content. So I've decided to take a step back. Take a little time away. Refocus my attention, and try to make sure that I give myself some time to re-energise. If you've been feeling like this, I hope you now know that you are not alone. In a large number of conversations I've had recently, A LOT of people are feeling the same way. But it's as if we're not really supposed to talk about it. Like it's some kind of taboo subject. Or that if you tell your audience you're struggling, they'll simply run away from you and never come back. I disagree. Rather than trying to cover up what's going on, I wanted to talk about it. Instead of pretending I'm too busy, or that life is too awesome, I'd prefer to share the reality with you. These last 9 weeks have been brutal. The monotony, and repetition of a daily routine, without much interaction, have proven very hard. I've done my best to look after myself and along the way, I've experienced ups and downs. Well, I've reached that point now where I just need to take some time away from everything. Re-assess my goals, objectives and where I want to focus. Take some time to build up my energy stores and be able to come back with a new focus and energy. So that's what I'm doing.           Hopefully, all of you will understand, and in 10 days or so when we come back, you'll be here ready to check out the new episodes and to continue to listen, learn and enjoy the podcast. If not, that's ok too. If you don't look after yourself, you definitely can't look after anyone else. And that's the position I'm now in. If you're feeling the same way, I'm happy to chat. You can hit us up on any of our social channels, links below, and I'd be happy to talk to you about it too. in the meantime, look after yourself, those around you and stay strong. We'll see you soon. Stay safe everybody. A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about trusting your gut. Well, your intuition at least. For many people, it comes in the form of that sensation that something's not right. But did you know there is a developing science around what we call intuition? I'm joined by Sunil Godse from Intuitionlogy. He's spent years, interviewing hundreds of business leaders, to better understand what intuition really is, and just how big a part it can play in running and marketing our businesses.  Sunil is passionate about helping people understand their intuition better.  Most of us can remember at least one time we've gone against our gut and it hasn't worked out well. But what if you could take some time to figure out those good intuitions that landed you that amazing new client, or that helped you open a new opportunity? How powerful could it be to start listening to maximise the opportunities that appear in front of you? How much of a difference could that make to your business?   I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about making better video content. We're all looked down here in Europe, and especially in the UK. LoFi video (video content that you can make yourself) has become stock in trade for a lot of us.  In our previous episode, we talked about what LoFi video is, today we're talking about how you can improve the quality of your videos. I started off only wanting to detail 3 things that we use on a regular basis to create content. In the end, I covered 4. 1. BigVu - it's an app and it's very simply a teleprompter for your iPhone. It's the perfect app if you don't feel confident to just talk to the camera, and you prefer to work off a script. 2. Phone holder and ring light clamp - this is a cheap and effective way of improving the quality of your video 10 fold (notice I didn't say 10X). 3. EpocCam -  by El Gato - This is a tiny piece of software that you can install on Mac and PC - and an app that you can install on your phone. Together, they allow you to use your smartphone as a webcam. Most iPhones today are far better quality than even the best webcams.      4. Rode VideoMic Me-L - This is an iPhone (lightning connector) directional microphone. This will upgrade the quality of your sound massively. (apologies, it's £66, not £40-something).That's it for today. If you're creating video content, we'd love to hear what you're up to, and if you're not sure how to get started, simply reach out to us on social media and ask. We're always here to help. Today's episode is all about LoFi video. If you're not sure what that means, don't worry, that's what we're here to help with today. LoFi video is simply video content that can be created simply, cheaply and very easily. The Superbowl happened last week. That's the perfect example of big-budget video creation for brands. The Superbowl ads are a BIG thing every year. Brands compete to come up with the best idea possible, and they then throw MILLIONS of dollars at agencies, stars and production studios to make it possible.  Lo-Fi video is the complete opposite of that. It's clever and insightful content that can be created by you, at home or at work, using simple tools like your phone or your laptop. For example, have you noticed how Sky News relies pretty much exclusively now on Zoom or Skype calls to run interviews? You can use LoFi video to do the exact same thing for your business. You can create simple, but effective content about who you are and what you're business does, simply by recording yourself talking about it. Check out today's episode and if you're stuck coming up with ideas contact us on social media and we'll share some of the videos we've helped create for businesses around the UK. Today's episode is all about partnerships. How can your business develop partnerships that are not only profitable for both parties, but also for your customers and audience? We're joined by Adam King, the first of our guests to return to the podcast. Partnership is a term that's often bound around without understanding the true potential it provides us all with.  From affiliate deals to co-authored content, introductions to referrals partnerships come in all shapes and sizes. The best partnerships you'll build are the ones that symbiotically help everyone involved. It's not just about partnerships today. I asked Adam to come back on the podcast for another reason too. He recently made some bold decisions for his business and most importantly his podcast. After more than one hundred episodes, he rebranded. Now that's something a lot of people would be scared to do. I strongly recommend you check out The B2B Growth Think Tank. Why did he rebrand? That's exactly why I brought him on. To tell his story, and to remind you that it's ok to pivot your business. In fact, it's healthy to do it when the time is right. His new podcast has a whole new framework and purpose, and it's directly focusing on tackling the problems that B2B businesses are currently having.I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about understanding a fundamental principle for success in marketing, and anything else for that matter. You see, trying something once, and saying it doesn't work simply isn't a good strategy. As with most things in life you need to consistently show up. Doing something, again and again, to make sure that it has a fair chance of actually getting some results. And then, and this is the really hard part for most of us, you need patience. Guess what? It's not going to happen overnight. There are no overnight success stories that don't start with years of effort and hard work. At least none that I know of. And all of this was inspired by a recent article I read by Seth Godin titled Chasing The Cool Kids. Stay safe and enjoy the episode. A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about Louie Torres. Yes, he's the founder of Unleashed Marketing and yes he helps dog trainers secure more business through digital marketing. But the episode is about MUCH more than that. You see, for Louie, this is the space he's chosen to work in. But the reason why Louie is so successful in the space is that he really understands his clients, their problems and their needs. And that's what's important about this episode. Way too many of us try to be all things to all men, and as a result, it ends badly. It doesn't end up working out. Because of how Louie understands his customers, he's also incredibly good at understanding their customers  (he was one at one point). We talk about automation, saving time, find more effective ways to communicate and maximising what would otherwise be dead time for dog trainers, and guess what, no matter what you do, you'll find that this is applicable to you and your small business too. I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about looking at what the future of digital marketing might in fact look like in the next couple of years. Now, we definitely don't have a crystal ball over at Social INK, and technology evolves at an increasingly fast rate, but some "future" things, might already be out there. We know for sure that cookies and tracking are changing. With new laws set to come into effect, and Apple making bold moves for user privacy (like annoying Facebook recently) the endlessly tacking people around the net is going to be a thing of the past. But what about AI and how that's helping to create content, or more importantly - simple messaging bots that automatically respond to your messages and questions? Who knows, but I'm going to be looking to get some guests on over the next couple of months to talk about what we all think will likely happen. In the meantime, here are just some of my thoughts. And some things you should probably check out if you didn't know they were a thing. Stay safe and enjoy the episode. A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about SERPs. Not sure what SERPs are? It stands for Search Engine Results Page. Basically, it's what you see when you type something into Google (or Bing if you're one of the 5%). Jason Barnard has been fascinated with SERP for a long time now. Over the past 8 years, he's been pulling together a database of brand SERPs and looking for those key factors that make it all-important and powerful for brands. Join us today as Jason explains the ins and outs that are often forgotten, especially when it comes to brand searches. That's right, we all think people searching for our brand already know all about us and can find us easily, but even I learnt a thing or two during this conversation. I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about experimenting. Yes, I know what you're all thinking, "he's talking about experimenting AGAIN!" But that's what digital marketing is all about. It's about constantly trying new things to see what works and what doesn't. In this episode, James O'Donnell and I (Chris Bruno) are trying something new. An experiment of sorts. We recorded this episode of the podcast LIVE on the Social INK channels. We want everyone to try different things. Use the word experiment - so everyone else knows that you're simply trying something out. What's the worse that could happen? No one listens, watches, or engages? No worries, move on to the next experiment. But don't let "fear" stop you. Don't let other people's opinions influence you. You're doing great, and most people won't even try. Stay safe, look after yourselves and remember to start experimenting.  A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today's episode is all about public relations - also known as PR. What we think of as PR might be antiquated. The thoughts of meeting journalists for drinks or dinners and building a relationship certainly no longer fit the times we've been living for the last 12 months or so. But in reality, it changed long before social distancing came into play. Victoria Kennedy, CEO of Victorious PR joins us on the podcast today. She understands what it's like to try to get your name out there. As an opera singer, she was constantly trying to get her name out there. Today she helps a wide range of business owners get their story and message out into the world. The press is online more than ever, and that's where people consume content. So whether you've always wanted to publish a thought leadership piece on Forbes, or you're trying to announce your latest product launch, you'll want to hear what Victoria has to say. Today's episode is all about looking after yourself. 2021 is off to a strange start. Feels a little like we never really left 2020. There have been a ton of memes and gifs expressing how people are feeling so far this year. And I guess it's completely understandable. Today I wanted to share that it's ok not to feel great. Heck, I know that I don't always feel great. In fact, so far this year (yes, all 2 weeks of it) I've had 2 days of feeling like I just wanted to sit in a corner, in the dark and do nothing for a hours on end. It's normal to have ups and downs in life, but at the moment, life almost feels FLAT. Like there are no ups or downs to speak of, it's almost worse. The lack of variety in our surroundings, environments, activities, etc makes things even more challenging. Well, I just wanted to say that when it comes to you, your business, or your marketing, right now, don't be too hard on yourself. Do things that make you smile. Try new things you've never done, or simply take a break away from it all for a while and then come back to it when you're ready. Either way - if you need it, we're here too. Feeling down - get in touch. Want to chat - get in touch. Not sure what to do next - get in touch. Fancy a game of FIFA - get in touch. Seriously - this is who we are - you can find us live every day on Social INK's YouTube channel - or simply reach out to us directly on any of the All About Digital Marketing Channels. One way or the other we will reply and we will be here to help out. Stay strong, stay safe, and look after yourselves. Physically and mentally. Today's episode is all about local search, but more importantly, it's about finding your happy in your business with John Vuong, Owner of Local SEO Search. That sounds a bit "hippy-ish", but it's far more important than you may have realised. Now, this isn't about positive thinking, or breathing techniques to get through the day. It's about how to make sure that you're building a productive and happy business, that actually fits in with the goals you had when you first started. Of course, we also talk about search, and what really are the basics every small business should be focusing on. Like Google My Business. Are you using that to help build your business? I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode. Today’s episode is all about wishing you happy New Year. Or is it? As lockdown Version 3.0 has begun here in the UK, it’s easy to think of 20201 starting as bad as 2020 finished. But I don’t think that’s the case. It’s another reminder that we’re not quite out of the woods yet, but that definitely doesn’t mean things aren’t getting better. What does it mean for your business though? Well, things aren’t looking like they’ll be back to business as usual, at least not for the foreseeable future. So the importance of digital once again is imperative for your business. Take this time to find ways to communicate and engage with your community, your customers, your suppliers. You might be surprised at just how responsive people will be.I hope you all stay safe.Enjoy!A huge thank you to Campaign Refinery for sponsoring this episode.
