At five feet, four inches tall and 137 pounds; a transient sex worker who took the lives of 7 men in several acts of self-defense, according to her. But how could this be possible? Born as Edmund Emil Kemper III, on December 18, 1948 in Burbank, CA; he is known better as the co-ed killer who was responsible for the deaths of 10 individuals; 8 of them occurring between May 1972 and April of 1973. His parents; Clarnell Elizabeth Kemper and Edmund Emil Kemper Jr. had three children, of which Edmund was the only boy and the middle child. Born as Richard Benjamin Speck, on December 6, 1941 in Kirkwood, IL; he is known for murdering 8 female students who lived together on the south side of Chicago. But that wasn’t the beginning of his crimes. As we’ve seen with all other cases; this was escalated behavior. Prior to these murders, he had been responsible for other acts of violence against his family and others. Additionally, Speck was pretty good at escaping the police…until he wasn’t. His talent ran out in 1966, after his killing spree, when he was captured two days later. For this episode, I tried to stick to the dates and the facts that we knew about him/his criminal life.
