Adrenal Disorders in Dogs with Dr. Ruth Roberts today on Its A Dogs Life with Angela Ardolino only on Cannabis Radio. Ruth Robert's work as an integrative veterinarian and holistic health coach for pets has been one wrought with tales of triumph, tragedy, and tail wagging. But like most veterinarians, her journey began with the love she developed for her childhood pets. Just like that, it almost seemed as though Ruth was destined to spend her life to help and be a friend to animals. While in veterinary school, it became apparent to her that my role as a veterinarian went well beyond checkups and surgeries. Ruth Roberts realized that she was more than a doctor to our furry friends, she is their friend and advocate. We are the ones who they count on when they feel hurt or uncomfortable and they cannot speak for themselves. We are the ones who can heal them when all possible solutions thought by their owners to ease their pain have been exhausted. Paying close attention to what our pets eat, to what fuels their body, is the first step in preventative care and maintaining good health. Once Ruth realized this in entirety, she was horrified by the food I’d been feeding my own pets and recommending to my clients. Food from the bag or can is just not enough to keep our pets healthy at every stage of their life. Ruth realized that in order for our pets to meet their bodies’ nutritional demands, they needed real food. And thus, The Original CrockPET Diet was born.

Truth about Pet Food With Susan Thixton today on Its A Dogs Life with Angela Ardolino only on Cannabis Radio. Susan Thixton Animals have always been a big part of Susan's life. Her first dog as a child was a red Doberman named Duke that she competed in obedience trials with. Back then, it was standard to teach dogs using force. Even at 11 years old, and in defiance of those who were teaching her ‘how to train my dog’, Susan refused to hurt her best friend. Her kind methods of training paid off, out of a possible 200 points, they consistently scored 199 and 199 1/2 in competitions. Duke was her best friend and he was treated with respect; he returned the love tenfold. At 15, Susan's parents bought me a horse for her birthday. Susan went from showing dogs to showing horses. Her respect for animals continued with her horses; she had the number one Quarter Horse gelding in the State of Kentucky for several years. Susan then went to college on a horsemanship scholarship; taking three horses with her to school.

Healing Touch for Animals With Rachel Augusta today on Its a Dogs Life with Angela Ardolino only on Cannabis Radio. Healing Touch for Animals (HTA) is a holistic approach influencing the health and well-being of animals through energy medicine and intention. HTA techniques restore harmony and balance to the animal’s energy system while providing physical, emotional, mental, and instinctual stability. Stabilizing the energy system allows the natural succession of the body’s physiological response to support the immune system which encourages the healing process and promotes well-being. HTA can be used on all species: small and large animals, birds, aquatics, exotics, and humans. Anyone who has the desire to assist another animal or human can easily learn HTA. HTA uses the hands and energy of the practitioner to clear and balance the energy system utilizing HTA techniques so the body can self-heal. The correct physiology of the body is supported through relaxation and balance allowing healing to begin.

Integrative Veterinarian Dr. Katie Kangas DVM, CVA, CVCP joins us today on It's A Dogs Life With Angela Ardolino, only on Cannabis Radio. Dr. Kangas is an integrative veterinarian, which means that she focuses on preventative health and supporting natural healing or wellness through many holistic options in combination with traditional veterinary medicine. Preventative wellness and holistic care options include diet/food choices, nutritional supplements, acupuncture, herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies, essential oils, and more. Conventional medicine (for both animals & people) tends to focus more on the treatment of disease and the symptoms of the disease after the condition or illness presents itself. While this type of health care can have value, it also has limitations. Preventative and integrative veterinary medicine aims to support the animal’s health through diet, nutrition, and lifestyle practices that allow our pets to be more resilient to disease and live better quality lives. In other words, providing our pets with the tools to thrive, rather than to just survive. In Dr. Kangas's opinion, the most balanced health care uses a combination of both conventional and holistic options. This is called Integrative Medicine. It is her goal to empower pet parents to make better choices and take a more active role in promoting health and quality of life for their pets. We talk today about Dr. Katie Kangas, her journey, where she thinks this industry is heading and much more on It's A Dogs Life with Angela Ardolino.
