In 1997, a teenager from Indiana named Travis Meeks took acoustic guitar, heavy alternative rock, and pure brooding intensity to the top of the charts with Days Of The New’s self-titled debut album (often known as Yellow). But behind the massive radio singles and multi-platinum success was a band on the brink of complete collapse driven by Meek's massive ego, substance abuse struggles, and relentless compulsion to control every note. Join us as we dive into the genius and tragedy of Days Of The New. We break down their iconic 1997 debut and explore a couple of tracks from their follow-up (Green) to glimpse a hint of the grand, experimental direction Meeks was desperately trying to take the project before it all unraveled. Believe it or not, this is our first ever country episode. To help us break the seal, our buddy Mitch joins us to explore Rattlesnake Milk's self-titled from 2020, an album that blurs the lines between classic country, psychedelia, and Americana. If you've never ventured into modern country, or have been actively avoiding it like Travis and Quentin have all these years, this might just be the perfect place to start.
