We’re BAAACCCKK and better than ever! We’ve been away for awhile and we’re making some changes. Please welcome our new co-host,from episode 1, Amy Probst! We’ll be changing the name of the podcast as well in the near future (as soon as I can figure out to do it with the least amount of interruption). This episode we are lucky enough to have our old friend Nate DuFort. Nate is a former Second City Chicago producer who got his start with Amy and I in our old Second City Detroit days. We talk comedy in Trump’s America, common core, and children. Check out Nate’s podcast Midstream on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/midstream/id1200724797 And WELCOME ABOARD AMY!!!
This weeks episode is a real treat. All the way from LA we have Swamp People producer Mike Eshaq. And, as an additional treat, Amy Probst sits in for Tom on this episode. We’ll discuss behind the scenes at Swamp People (obviously), the secrets of reality TV, and that time Mike lost his cell phone in Detroit. Enjoy!
Scott White gets the honor of being our first RETURNING GUEST! He’s visiting for the week and stopped by the Itchy Knot Studios to spend an hour with Ken and Tom (and Bob, Jason’s working the Lions game). We talk about the Lions (good grief), Scott’s time travel through Canada doing stand-up, and the money Tom is losing because his fantasy football team sucks. Consume away!
Well, after a short layoff, WE’RE BACK!!! This week’s guest is Second City Novi alum Quintin Hicks. Quintin wrote the critically acclaimed one-man show Fish Dinner (parts 1 and 2), teaches improv at The Planet Ant, and performs as a guest periodically with The Planet Ant Home Team. We talk professional wrestling, about Quintin’s time at the Second City, and we all discuss what it’s like to get old(er). Enjoy!!!
This week’s guest is comedienne Stephanie Hillier. She currently lives in Omaha, NE, but hails from right here in the great state of Michigan. Wow, what a fun episode. We talk about the World Series of Comedy, that drinking bender we have all been on that soured us on a particular liquor, and the dirty jizz rag that Tom uses to wipe off his exploding beer. Check out our Facebook page (The Ken and Tom Show: Tales from the D) to see pictures of some of the things discussed. Oh yeah, and while you’re there, give it a like and a share. Consume, yo!
It’s the ComedySportz World Championships LIVE! from Rock Island, IL. We took the show on the road and interviewed ComedySportz folks from around the country (and one from the UK). We spent 5 days in the Quad Cities and it was PHENOMENAL! We drank. We improvised. We mingled. We learned. We bonded. Our guests include Jeff Priskorn, Jacob Bach, John Cooper, Matt Garnis, Jess McCartney, Ryan Mcgillen, Kirk Keevert, Justin Green, Jesse Kunith, Ben Frailey, Jordanna Cole, Sean Paraventi, Matthew Russell, and Glen Abernathy. Enjoy the ride with us!
Our guest this week is Second City Detroit Alum Jeff Fritz. We talk about Jeff’s time with the Second City Detroit, his time in NYC, and why riding a motorcycle sans helmet is not such a great idea. Jeff is currently the Artistic Director at ComedySportz Detroit. We also learn that Fritz is not afraid of the future, and everyone can reference Dune except Ken. We love you, so listen.
Jeff Priskorn is an actor, improvisor and musician. You can see him in many commercials on your television and you can catch him at ComedySportz Detroit. He’s been in numerous local bands including Curious Jack, Phruitopia, and Mad Rabbit. We talk about the biz, try to explain away why it’s taken 6 episodes to get Jeff on the program, and discuss the numerous cease and desist orders we have all received throughout the years. Consume!!!
Visiting us all the way from Houston, TX it’s Wyandotte’s own (wait, what? It’s Woodhaven? Got it) Woodhaven’s own Scott White. Scott is a comedian who is currently playing comedy clubs and ComedySportz theatres around the country. Topics discussed: comedy inspirations, Jason tries to take over the show, and what a crappy research department the Ken and Tom Show has (we have no budget). Give us a listen, won’t you?
Meet Ken, Tom, and Jason. You’ll learn they’re hang-ups (especially Ken’s), movies that they have all seen, bizarre habits, and more. It’s a very entertaining hour and fifty minutes, especially if you want to hear Ken get made fun of for most of it. Ken’s wife and kids and Jason’s wife even make appearances (don’t worry, we cleaned up the language when the kids were in the room). Where is that bouncer that’s supposed to be watching the door???
This weeks guest is comedian Rico Bruce Wade. This was a very exciting episode for me (Ken) because Rico was my very first improv instructor and helped set me on the path I travel to this day. I don’t know where I would be without his initial guidance. Tom couldn’t be with us for this episode, so sitting in for him is episode 1 guest Amy Probst. Jason makes his triumphant return as a married man. And we talk The Detroit Creativity Project, German short hairs, what it’s like to do stand-up on St. Patrick’s Day, and who is now running the ad department at Nationwide. Have a listen, won’t you?
Our guest this week is ComedySportz Detroit owner Rich Goteri. We talk about his time at Saturday Night Live, name drop like nobody’s business, and stare in awe as Tom talks about why he doesn’t eat White Castle. It’s crazy fun, and you might even learn something about “the business”. Have a listen, tell your friends, tell your enemies, and share this podcast. But most importantly, enjoy Episode 2 with Rich Goteri.
From the Itchy Knot studios, it’s our inaugural episode! Our guest this week is the venerable Amy Probst. Amy is a comedienne, an adventurist, an animal lover, and a great story teller. I can’t say enough about her. I think she is someone you will want to know too. The podcast is about an hour and thirty-six minutes, so hunker down and enjoy. One note, this is a NSFW episode (our language is a little salty). But hey, it’s funny so you should be able to look past that. Have a listen, won’t you?
