It was a pleasure for the Capital Club Dubai to host a discussion focused on “CBDCs, Crypto, NFTs – Creating Digital Value" in another episode of Technology Heroes Unplugged. The topical dialogue on today's asset classes in crypto took place with Hassan Khan, CEO of TODAQ and Dr. Geoffrey Goodell, Senior Researcher at University College London, moderated in an engaging exchange with Naveed Minhas. The conversation focused on the hype and speculation of NFTs that needs to be understood relative to the true value of crypto being a medium of exchange and an emerging asset class. The discussion further explored Hassan and Geoff’s perspectives across digital value, gold standards, CBDCs features, privacy of crypto usage, ecosystems that crypto helps evolve, and macro trends that support crypto. Are NFT’s a bubble or unit of exchange? It concluded with perspectives on monetary policies and the liquidity of crypto versus a timeline to deliver stability for emerging assets.
It was an honor to host Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr, Global Digital Magnate and former founding Director-General of Smart Dubai, with Mohammed Shael Alsaadi, CEO of Corporate Strategic Affairs at the Department of Economic Development, Government of Dubai at the 4th episode of Technology Heroes Unplugged at Capital Club Dubai. The discussion was both frank and insightful on "Perspectives of Dubai's Digital Future", moderated by Naveed Minhas. H.E Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr and Mohammed Shael, as leaders, shared insights and stories, on topics as diverse as Dubai's pandemic response, cashless societies, the role of regulation, culture, and Dubai's future at the forefront of digital progress.
The third episode of Technology Heroes Unplugged at Capital Club Dubai, with Yuri Misnik, Paolo Barbesino, and Rafik Majiti was hosted to discuss "Why build a digital bank in 2020?” in a Conversation moderated by Naveed Minhas. The guests shared their insights focused on the opportunities for Digital banking, from a continued dialogue with the regulators to deregulate, the paradigm of customer acquisition and growth, the relevance of a super app vs banking platforms as well as the importance of culture to drive new digital business models.
Capital Club Dubai's Episode 2 of Technology Heroes - Unplugged saw payment leaders such as Samer Soliman of Network International MEA, Javed Alam of DXC MEA, Haytham Al Maayergi of ADIB UAE, and Arjun Vir Singh of Al Futtaim for the discussion on the adoption of digital payments in MENA. It was hosted by Digital Platforms Executive Naveed Minhas. The guests helped drive a great dialogue which helped to find conclusions on the importance of interoperability and schemes for the region.
