That's the paradigm in which Ian Armijo has lived his entire life. When he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a kid, his life expectancy was 14 years old.Instead of shying back, Armijo met his genetic challenge head on and did everything in his power to live a full life that's true to himself.Today, Armijo is 40-years-old, has bought and sold many successful businesses, is a member of an outlaw biker gang, and is pursuing poker with everything in his soul.Listen to his story today on Chasing Poker Greatness. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

Today's guest is a good friend of mine for the last five or six years, Joe Desimone. Joe Desimone is a villager. He's currently an MTT Pro, but back when I met him in my old twitch street days he was battling in the cash game arena. He's been a successful professional poker player for the last 10 years or so. Greatest Village is very lucky to have somebody as skillful as Joe around to answer MTT questions where, you know, the village is not exactly full of MTT specialists, right? We're cash game pros typically so, Joe is a major, major asset to the Village. And in my conversation today with Joe Desimone he's going to drop a Greatness Bomb on an underbluffed spot when you're battling against fish, he's going to dive deep into his poker origin story, and him and I are also going to reminisce about the good old days. So now, without any further ado, I bring it to you a long time a professional poker player and good friend, the one and only Joe desimone. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

Today’s guest on the Chasing Poker Greatness podcast has over $4.2 million in live MTT cashes and is the founder of the Charity Series of Poker, Matt Stout.Matt’s origin story into the world of poker began as a 19-year-old college student and has taken the man around the world. And not just for travel but also for you know… living, as Black Friday forced Matt to seek out places where he could continue his online poker career. He’s lived in places like Costa Rica, Amsterdam, and Rosarita, Mexico. If you’ve ever been curious about living the life of a traveling online poker player, you’re about to learn which of those locales was Matt’s favorite and which one almost killed him. And, like I say pretty much in every single CPG intro, you’re also going to learn example #1021 of why I believe the poker world is chock-full of amazing human beings who not only chase poker greatness, but also chase what it means to be a great human being as well.In today’s episode with Matt Stout, you’re going to learn:- The events that led to Matt running charity poker tournaments for the Vegas Golden Knights.- Why college ended a bit early for Matt and a hilarious story about paying his tuition.- Matt’s trials and tribulations dealing with the aftermath of Black Friday.- And much, MUCH more! Now, without any further ado, I bring to you an all-time great poker player who lives to serve his fellow man… the great Matt Stout. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

Joe Johnson is an up-and-coming young gun who's in hot pursuit of realizing his poker dream. He and his fiance have recently moved to the poker boom-state of Texas where he plans on daily battling on the green felt, building up his poker bankroll, and carving out a successful career in the world of cards. If you'd like to join up with Joe and all the other aspring poker pros who live in Greatness Village, be sure to visit GreatnessVillage.comEnjoy the show.To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt
Josh Arieh has been in and around the game of poker his entire adult life and has racked up more than $8.1 million in lifetime MTT cashes.I feel like I’m in danger of going full Troy McClure in this intro but you may remember Mr. Arieh from the time he got third in the 2004 WSOP ME (The year that past CPG guest Greg “Fossilman” Raymer went the distance), his two WSOP gold bracelet victories, or from the legendary bad beat he put on Bryce Yockey at the final table the $50k Poker Players Championship playing 2-7 triple draw.It was a particularly brutal hand where he busted poor Mr. Yockey despite being a more than 99% underdog. One thing that tends to get left out of that story, by the way, is the fact that Josh had a commanding chip lead 4-handed and doubling up Yockey would have only cost him about 15% of his stack. Another fun little story about that event is that one of my closest friends (The man I have to give a hat tip to for introducing Josh and I in the first place) actually bought a rather large piece of Josh for that event. What Bryce Yockey didn’t know he had going against him is that my friend runs absurdly hot backing players so spiking a 1%’er was honestly kind of expected. But when it comes to having a rich, colorful, successful journey through the world of gambling and playing poker it’s hard to find a more compelling character than Josh Arieh. He has undeniably lived a fulfilling life of high adventure on the green felt Chasing Poker Greatness. And in today’s episode featuring the one and only Josh Arieh, you’re going to learn:Josh’s origin story into the world of poker and playing cards. What Josh was feeling, thinking, and experiencing at that legendary 2004 ME final table. The project Josh is currently working on will very likely fire you up.And much, MUCH more! And now, without any further ado, I bring to you a fearless gambler who has stood the test of time… the one and only Josh Arieh. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8YtPhoto Credits: Katerina Lukina
Today’s guest on Chasing Poker Greatness is a former StarCraft World Champion and the former owner of a little poker stream you may have heard of, Live at the Bike, Wayne “D22-soso” Chiang.Wayne has lived quite the life navigating the worlds of professional video gaming and then making the natural segue into the world of poker. It’s probably an overlooked quality of both aspiring professional poker players and long-time pros that an inordinate percentage of them tend to have had a major interest in some form of competitive gaming before venturing into the world of poker.Wayne’s one of the select few humans who has performed at a very high level in both disciplines for a very long time. He’s even invented a brand-new casino poker game that’ll be hitting the pit floors in the very near future… which is a project that has been in the pipeline for half a decade thus far.In today’s conversation with Wayne “D22-soso” Chiang, you’re going to learn:Wayne’s origin story as one of the OG professional video gamers in the world. Some big behind-the-scenes news and stories regarding Live at the Bike. What the poker world was like for Wayne coming up in Southern California. And much, MUCH more! Now, without any further ado, I bring to you world-class gamer, professional poker player, and businessman Wayne “D22-soso” Chiang. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

Today’s guest is a future poker hall-of-famer (Who sadly missed being inducted last year due to the WSOP shrinking their class by one member) and executive tour director for the World Poker Tour... the one and only Matt Savage.Matt’s career in the world of poker has now spanned 30 years, which, as someone who feels like a dinosaur because of their 17-year poker career, has to make Matt feel like something that’s even older than a dinosaur. And I don’t even know what that would be because, well, nobody does.Suffice to say, though, since Matt’s freshman poker year in 1991 the landscape around the game has changed dramatically and in today’s episode Matt’s going to wax nostalgic how the poker world of yesteryear compares to poker in the year 2021.In today’s Round 3 episode with Matt Savage, you’re also going to learn:- Matt’s thoughts on vaccination requirements to play major poker events.- Our thoughts on how-to make poker more fun.- How Matt and I feel about the future of online poker and whether or not it’s possible to police the games.- And much, MUCH more! Now, without any further ado, I bring to you the man who ran the Moneymaker WSOP Main Event, the founder of the Tournament Directors Association, and executive tour director of the World Poker Tour… good friend of the CPG podcast, the great Matt Savage. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt
Today’s guest on CPG is a high stakes cash game beast with over $2 million in live MTT cashes, and one of my personal favorite humans in the poker world, Jesse Yaginuma. You may recall Jesse being mentioned in a story recent CPG guest Justin Saliba told about the $5,500 High Roller Online WSOP Freezout event where in a very strange twist of fate 3 out of the 10 or so guys in a group chat managed to be the last three players remaining in the tournament. They had planned to meet up and play soccer the next day, and when Jesse busted out in third place he quipped, “You boys better bring your shin pads tomorrow.”This, to me, is a pretty typical experience with Jesse. On the green felt he’s about as tenacious and unflappable as they come and, off the felt, he’s just a laid back, hilarious dude that’s as cool as they come.In my mind, all of these are very important ingredients in my personal recipe for live poker greatness. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also one of the most talented poker players I’ve ever had the good fortune of going to war against. In today’s episode with Jesse Yaginuma he’s going to tell you poker stories that are near and dear to his heart, what he’s been up to since coming onto CPG almost two years ago, how he goes about addressing and plugging weaknesses in his poker game, and much, MUCH more!So now, without any further ado, I bring to you an amazing human being who’s a genuine poker talent… the one and only Jesse Yaginuma. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

From driving taxis for a living to obsessively research & betting on the ponies (and winning!), Peter Bermingham's time on this earth has been very well lived. And about one year ago Peter stumbled into Greatness Village, randomly hopped into a Poker Power Hour, and the rest, as they say, is history. In Peter's one year spent in Greatness Village (The CPG Private Slack community) he's missed ONE Poker Power Hour (Out of 52), bought all the CPG courses, and has been a prototypical obsessive student of poker. He's also flattened his cratering red line while going from a small winner at $25 NL to a big winner on the streets of $200 NL.I could not be more proud of him.Today you're going to learn all about Peter's journey through the world of cards, what the future holds, and much, MUCH more! And if you want to join Greatness Village for free, all you have to do is visit GreatnessVillage.com.Enjoy the show!
Today’s return guest on CPG is the author of “A Girl’s Guide to Poker”, the always brilliant and engaging Amanda Botfeld.Despite her book tour being on ice because of a global pandemic, Amanda hasn’t been sitting around resting on her laurels. Not only has she been studying and growing as a poker player, she’s also been creating and teaching a college level poker course for the next generation of card players. In the following conversation, you’re gonna hear me get fired up at some despicable internet trolls who are so miserable and have so little going on in their lives that they feel the need to tear someone down who's doing everything in her power to grow and popularize this game. The reason why that touched a nerve with me is because if the next poker boom is meant to come from a large influx of women entering the poker world, it will be exactly because of folks like Amanda Botfeld and in SPITE of the slimy trolls who exist only to ooze out of the sewers to spread their awfulness. And if you’re as passionate about growing this beautiful game as much as Amanda and I, and want to see it thriving for many, many years to come… highly consider either scooping up a copy of Amanda’s book or directing a human being you love in your life to pokerpowher.com.In today’s episode with Amanda Botfeld, you’re going to learn:- Amanda’s path to teaching a college poker course.- How poker has touched almost every aspect of Amanda’s life.- And much, MUCH more! Now, without any further ado, I bring to you poker pro, author, and teacher… the thoughtful and articulate grower of poker, Amanda Botfeld. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt
Today’s guest on CPG is Tom Wheaton who is the founder of Faded Spade (The official playing card of the World Poker Tour) and the poker marketing and talent agency Above the Felt (Where he’s put together a top shelf roster of poker players including 4x WPT champion Darren Elias, the founder of SolveForWhy and longtime friend of CPG Matt Berkey, WSOP Champ Chris Moneymaker, and poker pro & WSOP commentator Jamie Kerstetter). This is Tom’s second of what I believe to be many, many CPG appearances, because the man is a hero to the entire poker community. You’re about to hear just how passionate he is about growing and playing this card game we all love so much and how he’s consistently putting his money & time where his mouth is.Because not only does he run two poker businesses (somehow without neglecting his family), but in today’s episode he’s about to let you in on another major project he’s somehow carving out time for that has the potential to reverberate throughout the entire poker universe before it’s all said and done.In today’s episode Tom’s also going to share stories from his greatest poker hits collection, explain how he’s able to play $5k and $10k tournaments despite being under rolled (And how you can, too), tell you about the moment he felt he was genuinely a part of the poker community, and much, MUCH more!So now, without any further ado, I bring to you poker player, business builder, and champion of poker… the founder of FadedSpade and Above the Felt… the one and only Tom Wheaton. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt
